  1. Yemoja was born among the Coralkeepers, a large prominent clan that helped to oversee the management of the coral towers of New Atlantis. An old clan that had joined in the founding of the city and been tasked by the first council to maintain the coral's health and insure that they didn't float astray and damage each other. To this day the clan has kept the moniker of Coralkeepers by and large. With all of their clans-members expected to have a working understanding of ocean currents, architecture, and stewardship. That is not to say the clan only does one thing. Indeed many of its members, used to the dangers of the outer reefs, have chosen to dedicate themselves to the Royal Guard not only to keep their city safe but to guard their family specifically. This small cadet branch are often called Coralguardians by the main branch. The clan as a whole has interactions with the outside world beyond Atlantis, at-least more than most, often helping to facilitate the little trade that does exist.

  3. Due to their work with the Coral's a great many of them work within the Priesthood. Such when Yemoja was born with a faint, almost whispy, Octopus spirit at her side she was pegged for a life within the faith. Which seemed to prove correct as she grew up, showing a natural inclination for the intricate rituals and managements needed to keep the coral towers maintained. What's more she demonstrated a natural charisma and ability to work with others of her clan and more impressively with those beyond the clan. For the first twenty-two years of her life she trained and worked as a Priestess of Yama, specifically working as a healer for the city. With what fee time she had, was devoted to the hatcheries. Helping to tend to and usher in the next generation of Sirenia.

  5. Indeed it seemed this would be Yemoja's life, at-least it would have been. Yemoja founder herself deeply in love with another Sirenian from a competing clan. It was a passion for the ages in her eyes and she became blinded by emotions. It wasn't until it was revealed the entire affair was a manipulation in order to diminish the reputation and steal the work of the Coralkeepers that she snapped. In a fit of rage the Priestess slew her lover, tearing them asunder and casting the bodies to the currents. This was bad enough but the act of simply tossing the body into the currents where it would be difficult to sink and make things harder on Yama.

  7. Called before a council of judges for her crime Yemoja pleaded for forgiveness. Explaining all that had happened and asking for a chance to make things right. However, the council would offer no mercy nor even a death within Atlantis. No they passed possibly the worst punishment they could, exile. Cast out with nothing into the great ocean the former priestess was forced to find a way to survive and a charismatic pirate captain offered that chance.
