  1. The article “How hard is it to pay attention?”, written by Murray Rosenbaum and published in The Huffington Post online in June 2013, addresses the many possible ways to get distracted in the modern world.
  2. The author starts off by covering the most common source of distraction - social media and smartphones and how they distract him from his work. He considers the combination of those two to be basically unavoidable unless the phone is completely ignored. He then goes on to explain that ignoring might be really effective but it also creates a risk of missing important situations, questions, etc.
  3. The author then adds the internet itself and video games as other sources of heavy distraction and procrastination. He emphasizes that video games might be the most addictive way to get distracted because unlike friends, they rarely tell you to stop procrastinating and start working.
  4. The solution that the author offers is basically only responding when it’s a really important message and ignoring all the others - it’s much more effective than apps that restrict you artificially.
