  1. Melon - Today at 9:13 PM
  2. Junction broke me in the first engagement
  3. Because I went to look at his armour as my character could see it with his shenanigan eyes
  4. And he didn't even mention what it was made of
  5. So I was like 'hey ho shit armour gunna explode you'
  6. Suddenly he's saying its tungsten, and he only mentions that in a completely different section
  7. Feels bad man
  8. If I'd known I'd have just used a bodkin
  9. and ended this already
  10. Decoy - Today at 9:15 PM
  11. True
  12. Melon - Today at 9:15 PM
  13. I can't really fault him because I did the same thing with demon acid
  14. But w/e
  15. Doll Maker. - Today at 9:17 PM
  16. Yep. You are still a good distance away though so no real loss. Just lock and reload.
  17. Mobius - Today at 9:19 PM
  18.
  19. If I'd known I'd have just used a bodkin
  20. and ended this already
  21.
  22. huh metagame?
  23. hello metagame?
  24. Doll Maker. - Today at 9:19 PM
  25. lol
  26. Melon - Today at 9:22 PM
  27. Magic eyes?
  28. I'd have been able to see if he was wearing thick af armour
  29. Hence why I went to look at what armour he was wearing
  30. Kiyomi - Today at 9:22 PM
  31. Magic eyes that run on magic acid
  32. Melon - Today at 9:22 PM
  33. to decide if I should use an -armour piercing- arrow
  34. Kiyomi - Today at 9:22 PM
  35. But yeah just shoot Moar Arrows melon
  36. If you can beat a house cat you can beat anything
  37. Doll Maker. - Today at 9:23 PM
  38. It's more or less the type of arrow you would have used.(edited)
  39. Melon - Today at 9:23 PM
  40. That's what I tell myself
  41. Doll Maker. - Today at 9:23 PM
  42. You were aware that he wore armor, but you specified the bodkin.
  43. Melon - Today at 9:24 PM
  44. I used a shatterhead because my character didn't see any substantial armour
  45. So it's a surer bet
  46. But unfortunately I should have seen pretty substantial armour
  47. as he is apparently wearing a tungsten suit
  48. Doll Maker. - Today at 9:25 PM
  49. Well, Junction specified he's wearing large armor.
  50. Melon - Today at 9:25 PM
  51. ' Ironically in his adventures on Academy Island before his accident, Retaliation discovered that the best way to make really hot flames was to cool yourself as much as possible. To this end he designed, tested, and constructed a personalized suit of combat armor designed to keep his body as cool as possible. The Cryogenic Combat Suit serves a vital function for Retaliation's powers as without it he would simply keep heating up until his body was enveloped in a super heated plasma cloud he could only barely control.'
  52. That's the armour description
  53. Nothing in that really told me he was wearing heavy armour
  54. It told me he was wearing a personalised combat suit designed to keep him cool
  55. But he did state it was made of tungsten, just in a different section
  56. Doll Maker. - Today at 9:26 PM
  57. You shouldn't be doing that in the first place. You are aware of that, yeah?
  58. Melon - Today at 9:26 PM
  59. Which would have totally changed how I, and my character, saw what he was wearing
  60. Doing what?
  61. Doll Maker. - Today at 9:26 PM
  62. Studying a character sheet and basing your attacks on it before even meeting said character.
  63. Melon - Today at 9:27 PM
  64. I had met the character
  65. I looked at the sheet to see what he was wearing because my character could see him
  66. Mobius - Today at 9:27 PM
  67.
  68. Melon - Today at 9:13 PM
  69. Junction broke me in the first engagement
  70. Because I went to look at his armour as my character could see it with his shenanigan eyes
  71. And he didn't even mention what it was made of
  72. So I was like 'hey ho shit armour gunna explode you'
  73. Suddenly he's saying its tungsten, and he only mentions that in a completely different section
  74. Feels bad man
  75. If I'd known I'd have just used a bodkin
  76. and ended this already
  77.
  78. (edited)
  79. It's this line of deduction
  80. is why I said metagame
  81. not the power you would have used
  82. Melon - Today at 9:28 PM
  83. It's funny
  84. Because I said ages ago that my character's eyes are a form of legalised metagaming
  85. and you all disagreed
  86. Mobius - Today at 9:28 PM
  87. yeah and you wrote it worst then
  88. Melon - Today at 9:28 PM
  89. This is how being able to see with telescopic clarity is a powerful ability
  90. Mobius - Today at 9:28 PM
  91. No
  92. You described it as something different
  93. Melon - Today at 9:28 PM
  94. You can see exactly what someone is wearing and plan your attack accordingly
  95. Or at least you can when you read it properly
  96. Mobius - Today at 9:28 PM
  97. I recall this from Lest arguing with you
  98. So unless you want me to dig real deep in the backlogs
  99. Doll Maker. - Today at 9:29 PM
  100. You are basing the arrow you would have used on that. It's also a specific type of arrow. And we don't do legalized metagaming here so.
  101. Melon - Today at 9:29 PM
  102. What?
  103. Mobius - Today at 9:30 PM
  104. man gonna take awhile
  105. Melon - Today at 9:30 PM
  106. I think the decision to use an armour piercing arrow probably would be based off if my opponent is wearing hard af armour
  107. Mobius - Today at 9:30 PM
  108. yeah but none of that was mentioned during that reasoning nor did you do that
  109. You just told us
  110. "had his armor section said the metal type"(edited)
  111. Doll Maker. - Today at 9:30 PM
  112. You are basing the arrow you would have used on information you wouldn't have had.
  113. Mobius - Today at 9:30 PM
  114. like come on guy
  115. Doll Maker. - Today at 9:31 PM
  116. We don't allow you to metagame here.
  117. Melon - Today at 9:31 PM
  118. I meant more in regards to just stating if his armour was of military level
  119. Though I suspect you could realistically discern the nature of a type of armour by eyesight alone
  120. Provided you had telescopic vision
  121. Mobius - Today at 9:31 PM
  122. I recall the vision seeing into the soul of the enemy
  123. Melon - Today at 9:31 PM
  124. Not anymore
  125. Mobius - Today at 9:31 PM
  126. yeah
  127. Melon - Today at 9:31 PM
  128. But it can see through cover
  129. So presumably I can discern the thickness of the armour
  130. Mobius - Today at 9:31 PM
  131. How?
  132. Melon - Today at 9:32 PM
  133. Looking at it
  134. Mobius - Today at 9:32 PM
  135. rofl
  136. Melon - Today at 9:32 PM
  137. With magic eyes, I imagine
  138. Or rather, judging body proportions
  139. Mobius - Today at 9:32 PM
  140. what if it was just really thick plastic?
  141. Melon - Today at 9:32 PM
  142. I can see my opponent's entire body, and can estimate the thickness of their armour based off those biological cues
  143. Mobius - Today at 9:32 PM
  144. how would you know?
  145. Melon - Today at 9:32 PM
  146. My character probably hasn't encountered someone wearing thick plastic
  147. Mobius - Today at 9:32 PM
  148. Lol
  149. Melon - Today at 9:32 PM
  150. So he'd have assumed it was armour and used an armour piercing arrow anyway
  151. Mobius - Today at 9:32 PM
  152. your character was from a whole different era compared to everyone rofl
  153. Melon - Today at 9:33 PM
  154. Yes, but he is familiar with modern equipment
  155. r-o-c-k-t-r-o-n-i-c - Today at 9:33 PM
  156.
  157. Melon - Today at 9:33 PM
  158. He's been alive for a long time
  159. Doll Maker. - Today at 9:33 PM
  160. You are reaching, Melon. You don't mention being able to tell the differences between types of armor in your sheet.
  161. Melon - Today at 9:33 PM
  162. 'and has a rudimentary understanding of most forms of technology as well'
  163. I have a rudimentary understanding of modern technology
  164. Doll Maker. - Today at 9:33 PM
  165. So we have no reason to belive you could know.
  166. Melon - Today at 9:33 PM
  167. and I could tell if a guy was wearing good armour or not
  168. Especially if I could see it as if I was standing an inch away from it
  169. Doll Maker. - Today at 9:34 PM
  170. ru·di·men·ta·ry
  171. ˌro͞odəˈment(ə)rē/
  172. adjective
  173. adjective: rudimentary
  174.
  175. involving or limited to basic principles.
  176. Melon - Today at 9:34 PM
  177. Yar, guy wearing thick metal, probably good armour
  178. pretty basic tbh
  179. Doll Maker. - Today at 9:34 PM
  180. So I could have an understanding of a remote, but I wouldn't know the types of plastic used for it, etc.
  181. Mobius - Today at 9:34 PM
  182. I am so glad I don't work tomorrow
  183. Melon - Today at 9:34 PM
  184. I don't really need to know the exact chemical composition
  185. Just if it's reasonably good armour
  186. Or what my character would perceive as good armour
  187. Doll Maker. - Today at 9:35 PM
  188. Not all bulky armor has teh same density or makeup.
  189. Melon - Today at 9:35 PM
  190. I was under the impression Junction was wearing some sort of tight supersuit that kept him cool based off his description of his armour
  191. Hence my character would have no idea he was even wearing armour
  192. But obviously you can't really wear Tungsten like that, so it would be more obviously plated
  193. Or w/e his armour composition is, I still don't actually know
  194. Mobius - Today at 9:36 PM
  195. This sounds more reasonable than what you said earlier
  196. "i looked at the sheet"
  197. Melon - Today at 9:36 PM
  198. :sob:
  199. Yeah, I looked at the sheet because he didn't really describe his armour comp to me
  200. IC
  201. Nor has he really described his frost freeze plasma attack thing
  202. Doll Maker. - Today at 9:37 PM
  203.
  204. encased by the helmet of his cryogenic combat armor.
  205.
  206. As opposed to the fact that he states he's wearing combat armor in his apperance?
  207. Melon - Today at 9:38 PM
  208. Well, I didn't try to shoot him in the head
  209. So I wasn't really looking at his face
  210. Doll Maker. - Today at 9:38 PM
  211. Cryogenic combat armor implies it's not just his head, bruh.
  212. Melon - Today at 9:38 PM
  213. Yes, but combat armour can mean anything really
  214. Especially with a sci-fi character
  215. Doll Maker. - Today at 9:39 PM
  216.
  217. Appeaance: Tall but possessed of a lithe build. Athletically fit with long limbs. Face is a bit squarish with pronounced cheekbones underlining a pair of striking blue eyes. His hair is a very dirty blonde color that is usually encased by the helmet of his cryogenic combat armor.
  218.
  219. The cryogenic combat armor itself is large and bulky,
  220.
  221. Melon - Today at 9:39 PM
  222. I had to use cues my character would actually understand or recognise
  223. If he was wearing a skin-tight super armour that looks nothing like armour, I'd have still used the shatterhead
  224. Doll Maker. - Today at 9:39 PM
  225. It literarly says in teh second paragraph it's large and bulky.
  226. Melon - Today at 9:39 PM
  227. Foolishly I didn't look at the appearance section
  228. I'm not used to people putting their armour in the appearance section
  229. As it's considered equipment, rather than an intrinsic part of a character's physical appearance
  230. Not to mention there was an actual armour section
  231. So I sort of expected relevant information to be there
  232. Doll Maker. - Today at 9:40 PM
  233. Well, the armor would be part of his apperance.
  234. Mobius - Today at 9:40 PM
  235. >reading profile sheet for ic justification
  236. >not metagame
  237. Well it's a good thing the profile was all fucked up
  238. honestly if I didn't want to run this legit and give you guys the appearance of being 100 percent unbias
  239. I would hide profile sheets
  240. Melon - Today at 9:41 PM
  241. I wouldn't have a fucking clue what my character could see if you had
  242. Mobius - Today at 9:41 PM
  243. I would love to see how broken most strats are when not taking notes of their opponents
  244. like
  245. Doll Maker. - Today at 9:42 PM
  246. Melon, this is what it looks like to me. You fucked up with the wrong arrow because you were gonna use his sheet to see, which one to use.
  247. Mobius - Today at 9:42 PM
  248. I would love to do a hidden sheet tournament
  249. but I won't
  250. cause if I did
  251. I'd get screamed at for all sorts of reasons(edited)
  252. It'd be a lot worst
  253. Melon - Today at 9:42 PM
  254. I fucked up because I imagined his armour different to what it actually looked like
  255. And so my character used the wrong arrow
  256. Mobius - Today at 9:42 PM
  257. Nope
  258. rofl
  259. Well yeah that's how metagame works(edited)
  260. 如月 涼子 - Today at 9:42 PM
  261. No sheet tournament would be nice
  262. Mobius - Today at 9:43 PM
  263. Well hidden sheet
  264. 如月 涼子 - Today at 9:43 PM
  265. Why do you think people won't like it?
  266. Mobius - Today at 9:43 PM
  267. cause if I nerf something
  268. Melon - Today at 9:43 PM
  269. Also I failed because he did actually describe his armour being bulky IC
  270. Mobius - Today at 9:43 PM
  271. someone will want to know if I nerf something else
  272. Melon - Today at 9:43 PM
  273. And I missed it
  274. But w/e
  275. Mobius - Today at 9:43 PM
  276. that they'd think needed nerfing
  277. or accuse me of gaming the system
  278. by giving profiles to "certain" players
  279. and without proof
  280. I can't argue otherwise
  281. Doll Maker. - Today at 9:43 PM
  282.
  283. Melon - Today at 6:43 PM
  284. Also I failed because he did actually describe his armour being bulky IC
  285.
  286. He descrobed it in his apperance too.
  287. Mobius - Today at 9:43 PM
  288. See with open sheets at least people can see our incompetence at times
  289. and we can correct it
  290. like with Darth and the fire guy
  291. or DLL
  292. So with open sheets we can prove our end
  293. Melon - Today at 9:45 PM
  294. If you do closed sheets you have to watch every fight like a hawk
  295. Because no one knows what their opponents can do
  296. There's no way to self moderate
  297. 如月 涼子 - Today at 9:45 PM
  298. I see
  299. Hidden sheets would be interesting though
  300. Mobius - Today at 9:46 PM
  301. with open sheets I can just blast accusations with open facts everyone can see
  302. It would
  303. Melon - Today at 9:46 PM
  304. Not that I have any fucking idea what my opponent can do anyawy
  305. 如月 涼子 - Today at 9:46 PM
  306. Because people would now have to play cautious
  307. Melon - Today at 9:46 PM
  308. Yeah, for one fight
  309. Unless you plan to make fights hidden as well
  310. 如月 涼子 - Today at 9:46 PM
  311. Like imagine if no one knew about Mitsu's electric field
  312. And they just run upt him
  313. up*
  314. Mobius - Today at 9:46 PM
  315. Lol
  316. Melon - Today at 9:46 PM
  317. I suppose it'd add an interesting layer of strategy to hide your abilities until later rounds
