[S] Playground war (Green)

>Summer was finally here.
>You, Sayori and a few other kids from your street had been planning for weeks now.
>An all out, sun drenched turf war.
>A match of "King of the Hill" to determine who would lay claim to the park slide.
>Whoever took the highest point in the playground was to be crowned king/queen.
>Every man was out for himself, every man except you, that is.
>Yesterday Sayori came over to your house and begged you to team up with her.
>"C'moooooon Anon! You know I'll get beat out there!"
"Why would I team up with a girl of all people? Girls are gross!"
>"But I wanna win! Please Anon!"
>"I'll buy you ice cream, anything!"
>Ice cream sounds nice! But this IS Sayori..
"With what money?"
>"Uh... I-I'll find some, I promise!"
>You gave it some thought.
"Pinky swear?"
>"Pinky swear!"
>The two of you wrapped your pinky fingers around one another and then set to work preparing.

>"Anon! It's Sayori, she wants you!"
>Before your mother even finished calling you, you were racing down the stairs.
>You give her a quick peck on the cheek before heading out.
>"You two have fun now!"
>The door closed, leaving you, Sayori and a red pull-along tray full of water balloons.
>The little girl gives you a smirk as she hands you a bright green water gun, taking the pink one for herself.
>She raises her hand to her forehead in a salute.
>"Let's move out, soldier!"
>You can't help but smile at her getting into character.
>That's what makes her so special after all!

>The two of you make your way to the local playground, remaining vigilant for any sign of an ambush.
>Lo and behold, a boy around your age appears out of seemingly nowhere and aims his set of dual water pistols at you.
>You barely dodge two streams of water before taking aim and firing back.
>Your attack catches the boy off guard, briefly looking at his soaked shirt before scampering off towards the park.
"C'mon, if that slowpoke Mark is gonna get there before us then everyone must be there."
>"Agreed!"
>The two of you high-tail it after Mark and finally make it to the park.
>What lies beyond the red entrance gates is a warzone.
>Well, a warzone in the minds of a six and seven year old.
>Children screaming and giggling, play-fighting to claim their prize atop the tower.
>You and Sayori spot a good place for cover and rush to it.
>Finally you dive behind your protection, a small wooden wall with a pirate ship wheel on one side.
>The two of you inspect the damage.
>Sayori's shirt is half drenched, meanwhile you got off almost scot-free save for a wet leg where a water balloon burst off of you.
>Despite the "wounds" Sayori has suffered she's as optimistic as ever.
>"There's no way I can lose this time! Not with my best friend on my side!"
>You return her beaming smile before taking a balloon from the trey, popping out of cover and throwing it in whichever direction.
>Sayori does the same.
>Unfortunately for you, the trey isn't very big so you run out of balloons quite quickly.
>But at least you hit a few people!
>You even sent a little girl named Sarah home crying because her dress got wet.
"Don't look at me! It was her fault for wearing the stupid thing!"
>Your excuse fell on deaf ears as Sayori called you a meanie in jest.

>Some time had passed now since the war had begun.
>Most of the children had left by now, either in tears or because their parents came to pick them up.
>Unluckily, someone had already claimed victory, so you and your partner wouldn't be winning anything this time.
>"Heck! We were so close too!"
>Your eyes widened at Sayori's French.
"Sayori! You can't say things like that!"
>The girl caught herself and suddenly went into a flurry of panic.
>"D-Don't tell mom! Please Anon she'll kill me!"
>A smirk splits across your face. Contrasting with Sayori's worried pout.
"I won't, on one condition."
>"What?"
"Two ice creams."
>"Oh you're hopeless! Fine, two ice creams!"
"Deal!"
>You laugh at your victory. These ice creams are going to be sweet!
>The two of you make your way out of the park, travelling down the pathway that connects it and the street.
>A tiny amount of water sloshes around in your blaster.
>Suddenly a devilish idea creeps into your mind.
>You pump the gun as fast as you can manage.
>Aim..
>FIRE!
>A jet of water hits Sayori square in the face, catching her off guard.
>She squeals in terror, water dripping from her face.
>She turns to you, eyes burning with the need for revenge.
>Her gun is empty however!
>You laugh as a pathetic wheeze escapes it's nozzle.
>Your laughing is cut short as Sayori throws the gun to the ground and tackles you with surprising force.

>You land on the grass behind you with a thud. The weight of a six year old sitting on your chest.
>You stare up at the girl. Behind her coral hair the sun begins to set, painting the horizon in a faint orange glow.
>"Very funny, Anon. But now you're going to pay!"
>She has your arms pinned to the ground by your wrists.
>Her bright blue eyes staring straight into yours. Burning with a passion.
>A passion..
>FOR TICKLING!
>Sayori's fingers find themselves at your sides, you can't help but burst into laughter as the sensation shoots through your entire body.
>She giggles along with you as tears begin to form at the corners of your eyes.
>The two of you roll around a little, you wrestling to get the girls fingers away from you.
>Finally you settle for pleading as the girl winds up on top of you again.
"Mercy! Please have mercy!"
>Suddenly she stops. Now she's looking down at you again.
>Red cheeks separated by her beaming smile.
>From this angle her smile is perfect, save for the chipped tooth from the time she fell head first into a table.
>You regain your breath. Nows your chance!
>Your hands shoot up to the girls sides, fingers wriggling away.
>The girl bursts into hysterics as you work at tickling her.
>She loses balance and falls forward into your chest, wriggling and squirming under your touch.
>Sayori can barely breathe through her laughter.
>Suddenly, two arms snake their way around you and hold you tight.
>She's... Hugging you..?
>You settle down before returning the hug, squeezing the little girl tight to your chest.
>You hear her let out a deep, content sigh.
>Looks like she's happy here, despite being on the ground.
>Some time passes.
"We should probably go home, Sayori. Dinner will probably be ready soon."
>"Mmm.. Dinner.."
>"Okay Anon!"
>The girl gets off of you, you stand up and dust yourself off.
>You set off for home again. Talking and laughing along with the little girl. Reminiscing about the day you had.

>The two of you enter Sayori's home and close the door behind you.
>Her father is standing in the hallway. He examines the two of you.
>Two kids covered in water, grass and muck stand before him.
>A grin forms on his face under his old glasses.
>The grin soon turns into a chuckle.
>A chuckle becoming roars of laughter as he doubles over at the sight of you.
>"Honey, your mother is going to be pissed!"
>Suddenly a female voice sounds from the kitchen.
>"Henry dear, whatever are you laughing about?"
>Sayori's mother enters the hallway and takes one look at her daughter.
>Her face changes from confusion to parental rage.
>"SAYORI WHAT ON EARTH HAPPENED TO YOU!"
>"Nothing mom! Promise!"
>The woman rushes over and grabs the girl, ushering her upstairs.
>"Get into the bath! I don't want to see a speck of dirt on you when you're done!"
>"Bye Anon! See you tomorrow!"
>Sayori disappears at the top of the staircase.
>Her mother turns to you.
>"Anon, you're in quite the state as well, you could do with cleaning up too."
"I know, I know. My mother is going to have my head when she sees me."
>"Well, that's what you get for playing in the dirt."
>Sayori's mother is a bit of a stick in the mud. Thank god she got her father's personality.
>"I'll see you around lil buddy."
>He says, before disappearing into the kitchen.
"Bye!"
>Sayori's mother holds the door for you and ushers you out.
>"Goodbye, Anon."
>The door closes.
>You walk down the path and into the street. Fingers crossed that you don't get grilled too hard.
>At least you had fun though.
>And at least Sayori had fun too.
>Your seven year old brain can't put it's finger on what. But something about that girl is oddly special.
