Hey Tompa, I used to TAS SMB3 a long time ago (over a decade ago, in fact). I don't know if you and/or Lord Tom have looked into this, but I was able to save a few frames in World 1 over the current warps TAS. However, I still need to save a few more frames. I'm considering trying to create a search tool to find minor optimizations if it hasn't been done already. I'm offering to team up with you guys if you're up for the challenge. What do you think about that?

And those improvements, including what's in the newest TASes, is enough to get a good Boomerang Bro patter in 8-Tank. Some time will then, currently, be lost to manipulate the hands, where no time at all was lost in the current "No Wrong Warps" TAS
And as 17 frames have to be saved up until enter Bowser, a couple of more frames have to be saved elsewhere
But yes, I wouldn't mind to team up and push this game further!

I would look at 8-1, 8-2, or 8-F if that's the case. I think we could find something that is barely fast enough there. Those three levels are each probably improvable by one frame.

I believe two frames can be saved in 8-1. One from not having to delay for the card at the end of the level

I tried that spot a lot in the 100% and Warpless runs as well, didn't manage to save anything

That's unfortunate. I remember trying to help Genisto with that part. The fortress has some very precise optimizations, but I wonder if there's a frame to save there.

Have you tried looking at Bowser's Castle itself for those needed frames?

Yeah, there isn't much to work with in the castle itself either
Another thing I haven't looked into for possible improvements, is subpixel management for enemies
As the subpixel value for each sprite is kept between levels. So you can set up to have an enemy close/further away from you
This could possibly save a frame with the Boomerang Bro and Boom Boom(edited)

I need to check how much ahead the run is up to the hands, and how many frames are required to manipulate them

Hmm, I don't think so. He used to always contact me about everything, so I've taught him quite a bit throughout the years. I'm active in the SMB3 discord, but most of them there don't have much TAS knowledge

As for the 1-3 improvement: It isn't checked out with Hammer Brother movement, so it's not certain it will actually save anything
+ that it will likely not give us a good Boomerang Bro pattern either. But all frames saved are good frames!
