  1. "Lying Is A Step Towards Tomorrow" - Shikyoin Hibiki
  2.
  3. This stage (world) is a silent film (silent)
  4. Its subtitles alone unending
  5. Destined (fated) to save
  6. The songstress's (canary's) singing voice
  7. Casting aside your borsalino
  8. On this rose-scattered path,
  9. Fire ceaselessly with your machinegun
  10. Let's deceive all, Oh
  11. The cage's key has broken
  12. As long as there's something I want to make come true,
  13. If my hand can grab it back,
  14. I won't let go - for eternity
  15.
  16. Lady! Lying is a step towards Tomorrow (Maybe!)
  17. Even that voice reaches no one (Bang! x5)
  18. Lady! Lying is a step towards Tomorrow (Maybe!)
  19. I know (Love's) liar!
  20. I know (Love's) fire!
  21. Countdown, yes, admiration
  22. Hey, listen! It's howling (howlying) "Can you hear me?"
  23.
  24. Scripts (stories) are absurd (nonsense)
  25. That's precisely why they're intolerable
  26. Questionable morals between reality and fantasy (dreams)
  27. If you put your cabriolet's top down,
  28. You're on a journey of escape with this song
  29. Stealing a march on your pursuers,
  30. Let's race off towards the east, Oh
  31. Nothing bars your way - Now, max out the volume into the red
  32. And soar (flap your wings) in an infinite sky - this melody is a paean to freedom
  33.
  34. Lady! Lying is a step towards Tomorrow (Maybe!)
  35. No matter where you go, this stage (world) (Bang! x5)
  36. Lady! Lying is a step towards Tomorrow (Maybe)
  37. I know (Love's) liar!
  38. I know (Love's) fighter!
  39. Countdown, yes, simply
  40. It's always been like this, right? Aah, I realized
  41.
  42. At some point, both right and left have become a maze (labyrinth) of reflecting mirrors
  43. There's no exit; it's like a self-written, self-starring utopia (paradise)
  44. Even so, a song rings out - The songstress (canary) seeming to perform two roles is
  45. Not only you, but also me, you see
  46.
  47. Oh Lady! Lying is a step towards Tomorrow (Maybe!)
  48. Acting is, itself, the truth (Bang! x5)
  49. Lady! Lying is a step towards Tomorrow (Maybe!)
  50. I know (Love's) liar!
  51. I know (Love's) fire!
  52. I know (Love's) liar!
  53. I know (Love's) fighter!
  54. Countdown, yes, admiration
  55. Tomorrow is fickle (Maybe!)
  56. Even miracles are commonplace (Maybe!)
  57. That's why, yes, I embrace this stage (world)
  58.
  59. NOTES:
  60.
  61. - The title literally translated is "a liar is tomorrow's beginning", which is a play on a Japanese proverb that, also literally translated, means "a liar is a thief's beginning". It's something you'd tell kids to highlight that lies are a slippery slope to worse behavior. "Today's liar is tomorrow's thief" scans in English, "Today's liar is tomorrow's Tomorrow" doesn't. Ah well.
  62. - Hibiki doesn't specify a subject a lot of the time here, perhaps because it's implied she's singing both to and about herself. I did the best I could with inserting the subject "you" or "I") I felt was most strongly implied at any given moment.
  63. - The liner notes use parentheses in a few different ways. Sometimes they're offering how Hibiki is pronouncing the kanji - even when (like "stage" vs "world") they're two different words - and sometimes they're the backup vocals.
  64. - A "borsalino" is a specific kind of fancy fedora. Combined with the machinegun, I presume she's alluding to gangster films for this metaphor.
  65. - "Howling (howlying)" was originally an uncommon kanji and how to pronounce it. Since there's still wordplay in that the word is "usobuku" and the word for "lie" is "uso", I stuck a pun in the parentheses.
  66. - "Cabriolet" was spelled "gabriolet" in kana. But that's...not a thing. The only results I could find looking for "gabriolet" (in kana or English) were Japanese people misspelling the swanky car. Nothing else in the song makes me think the error was on purpose, so I fixed it.
