-
Dear Fireball1725,
- It has come to my attention that the way in which our Minecraft Server ‘Serendipity’ is being managed is not to your personal liking. We have tried to be reasonable with you however in your pursuit to bring “justice” to the developers of the mods you have destroyed a Minecraft community that enjoyed your contribution.
- Your senior administrator, JoeDeath, wasn't exactly reasonable on irc. Selling items you don't own is not reasonable. Breaking the EULA, copyright laws, and mod licenses is not reasonable. You have been behaving far from reasonable.
-
Granted, working hard to create mods for the game should warrant some sort of retribution. We wanted to do that for you, however your disinterest in words and desire for “justice” were the prevailing factors in our decision to simply put the server down.
- So you are blaming Fireball for the fact that you shut down your server? It's not his fault that you aren't able to keep it going without breaking copyright laws.
-
Your toxic attitude towards server owners is abhorrent as they are the ones creating environments for the whole community to appreciate your mods.
- His attitude isn't toxic. He's just protecting his own property. What is toxic; is how you broke copyright, stole money, and treated your users like you did.
-
You’re acting like you work for Mojang/Microsoft. Mojang/Microsoft will never thank you for your contribution, and they will never pay you for your efforts. It’s because of developers like you that Mojang/Microsoft will take advantage of the modding community and your intellectual property just to add a few more dollars to their very padded pockets. You’re making an already multi-billion dollar company a little richer. It is sad to watch everyone just bend over to the big guys.
- He isn't doing this for Mojang. He's protecting his own property from theft.
-
In order for positive change to take place the entire gaming community (developers, server owners and players) all need to band together and play for the same team. What has happened is Mojang/Microsoft has successfully put a rift between developers and server owners. They knew by doing that it would split in the community and create a potential opening to launch their own modded realms using your mods. They succeeded.
- YOU’RE PLAYING FOR THE WRONG TEAM.
- This sounds like some kind of conspiracy theory. Modders normally have no problems with server owners, as long as they are drifting their servers legally.
-
Our inbox is flooded with sad and pleading messages to not shut down the server. Unfortunately we have to tell hundreds of young kids that all their hard work and time playing with their friends is over.
- That isn't Fireballs fault. It is your fault that you don't know how to drift a server legally.
