  1. Hello Ms. Johnson. I hope you are doing well.
  2.
  3. First, I would like to preface this with the following:
  4. I mean the following to be from a place of constructive criticism and request. The content of the email
  5. is, of course, what I firmly believe. I by no means have any intention of undermining or patronizing you with the following.
  6.
  7. Okay, with that said.
  8.
  9. Ms. Johnson. I would like to bring to your attention an issue that I have found to make your class somewhat limiting. I understand that you expect us to have the
  10. third and fourth paragraph rough drafted for tomorrow. These parameters were enumerated in an email you sent to Ian, which he proceeded to share with many of your 7th-hour
  11. students, including myself. He shared this email because of a commotion that was caused due to the misunderstanding of your directions. I, personally, was not aware that we needed
  12. to have the third and fourth paragraph completed in its entirety. Furthermore, once we finished our In Cold Blood pg 1-32 worksheet, we were instructed to either read on revisions on our analysis paper. Now the entire class had their first 2 paragraphs done and dusted. Proofread. Polished. Printed out for your collection today, however, when we went to turn them in, we were advised that we were not going t be collecting them today. This lead to the confusion at hand: When we were given the option to work on the paper, I assumed you meant continue proofreading and revising, for you had not yet collected out papers. In my mind, that means that section of the project is still in progress and thusly, still what we are to work on. Because I had spent hours this weekend really working on the two paragraphs, I opted to read from In Cold Blood today. Now, I am finding out that I actually need to write another 2 paragraphs. I am okay with this and I really want to stress that because the purpose of this email is not to complain, nor to get out of work. I really just want to communicate frustrations that I have been having with the communication structure of your class. On a side note (this is more of a personal issue) but I am not allowed to use electronic devices after 9:30. This in and of itself poses struggle for me getting homework done, however, it poses a significant issue when it comes to English class and the writing of anything.

  14. As mentioned before, I do not want to sound like I am complaining or getting out of work. This is something that has been an issue in the past with subs. This particular incident quite irked me, until I realized it is no one's fault. That is the purpose of this email. I am attempting to share with you an issue of mine and many members of your otherwise absolutely amazing class.
  15.
  16. What would be a grievance without a solution? Right :P
  17.
  18. I have thought about setting up a Remind system for your classes. The way it works is you go to remind.com and set up an account. This will allow you to create a class. From here, you will be given a class code to share, similar to that of google classroom. Each one of us can text that code to 810-10 and it will set our phones up so that you can send out a group text, and it will go to each of the students' phones. Furthermore, we can communicate directly with you by replying. This communication link already exists, of course, with email. However, it is an option as well.
  19.
  20. I apologize for any twinge of disrespect that may have been conveyed through the duration of the email.
  21.
  22.
  23. Best Regards,
  24. Tyler Holewinski
