  3. Personal information has been redacted. The notice was original displayed at various locations at campus on May 28th, but only recently drew larger attention. The notice is still seen on campus.

  5. Was someone testing the security of UC Berkeley computers, or was someone simply using a computer that was in an area accessible to the public? UC Berkeley did not make a press release regarding this incident. The notice was posted on campus without media attention drawn to the incident, although media contact was listed on the notice.

  15. On Monday, May 18th, 2015 staff at the Haas School of Business reported a person who unlawfully accessed several University computers located in areas open to the public. The extent of the suspect's activity is still under investigation, but at this time there is no indication that any personal, protest or confidential information was compromised.

  17. The UC division of Information Services and Technology (IST) is aware of the issue and can provide guidance to campus departments and affiliates on how to prevent the method apparently used by the suspect to defeat security measures.

  19. The suspect is not currently under arrest and is not restricted from public areas of the University. He has been observed on campus multiple times since January 2015 and has been reported to UCPD for lodging and other unusual behavior. If you have reason to believe he might have unlawfully accessed other computers on campus, please contact UCPD at the number below. If you observe him on campus and/or using University computers please be alert and report any criminal activity to UCPD without delay.
