After your little bout with the researchers, you approach a shrine, elevated above the water by stilts. It's a small, quaint place, with stone steps leading from the water to a door. However, that's not the most striking feature. Before the shrine stands a small, dark grey Pokemon, umoving, seemingly meditating. The water around it seems as if it's flooded with smoke or ash - it's blackened and swirling, in contrast to the mostly clear water elsewhere. Unlike most of the Pokemon on the route, it immediately notices you and strikes a relaxed, but guarded pose as the 'smoke' in the water rises up around it. The shrine's door is blown open, and the water near the entrance ripples.

Surprisingly, the Pokemon smiles, cocks its head, and speaks up. Or perhaps that's not the best way to put it...it's more like it skewers its words violently into your thoughts. A word kebab, if you will. It's enough to give you the start of a, ah, piercing headache.

From the sides of the shrine seeps more smoke...or that's what it appears as, anyway. But only for a moment. It soon solidifies around the Riolu, taking the form of some perhaps familiar, definitely angry Pokemon. What smoke doesn't take form bleeds into the Riolu, making it seem more...dense and powerful. /I hope you're ready...As they say, long is the day, and long is the night. But, you won't have to wait for me! And heaven knows, no one is going to wait for you.\
