- Bio: He's a native to the Netherworld, born in the Crucible town. He grew up pretty alright. Both his parents loved him, though his father was often too busy working to help support him and his chronically ill mother to tell him that.

Mitch is proactive, cheery, and a fast talker, traits he'd earned from his parents. These traits led him to taking the initiative to join in on one of Boetius's classes at the young age of 11, 6 years ago. Fortunately, he was able to discover qi after a few months of effort, at which point he was allowed to take Boetius as his master and start training in qi cultivation. Something his father and mother were delighted to hear about. He later joined the guard force officially on his 16th birthday.

Around a 4 months ago, he got a girlfriend. One day, during an intimate moment, he decided using the secret art [Fisherman's Duress] was a good idea. Now she wont stop bugging him about it.

Mitch practices the cultivation technique that Boetius teaches any that can wield Qi. After practicing for five years, he's opened the apertures in his nose, mouth, and left shoulder, putting him at rank 1 of the technique. The benefits at this stage are limited, just giving him a few extra years of life and making him a little healthier.

[Charybdis Breath]
An internal strength technique that uses the natural movements of the lungs to support its growth. Its qi paths flow along the nose mouth, and arms, eventually congregating around the lungs. As the cultivation of this technique deepens, it starts to resemble something reminiscent of a second set of lungs. Users of this technique have greater respiration abilities as it's qi captures and distributes oxygen as needed. In addition, due to its nature as a breathing technique, users have increased resistance against inhaled poisons, though are just as vulnerable as a common human against other methods of application.

Rank 1 Qi Transformation: Nature Shift
Changes the nature of the practitioner's Qi, giving it the trademark supplementary respiratory behavior.
Requires the vital essence of an avian creature to initiate the technique, the stronger the life form the better. Additional medicinal materials needed to neutralize any harmful agents as well as boost the effect. The user can be considered to have reached the peak of rank 1 after opening the nose, mouth, and shoulder apertures.

Rank 2 Qi Transformation: Qi Cycle
To advance to this stage, the user needs to establish a Qi cycle around the lungs. There are eight meridians (qi pathways) that flow throughout the body and come into contact with the lungs. Advancing in the 2nd stage involves creating a qi cycle (referring to a cycle that generates qi) between the yin lung meridians and the yang large intestine meridians. One can be considered to have reached the peak after creating a stable cycle. Failure to advance can cause a loss of cultivation base as well as internal damages, such as shredded lung.

Rank 3 Qi Transformation: True Qi
To breakthrough to rank 3, it requires an accumulation of qi until it reaches a high enough density to trigger a change, fusing wen and xie qi, two natural qis of the body. Maintaining control of the cultivation base is where the difficulty lies. If it happens that the cycle one built wasn't strong enough, the weight of True Qi will cause it to collapse. Moreover, the purifying effect of True Qi's fusion can potentially wipe Nature Shift's transformation, putting you back at rank 2.

A secret art that uses controlled muscle contractions and refined movements to excite the qi and blood, pooling into the selected arm, causing muscles to swell. In an instant, it expends the pent up fluids into a powerful thrusting motion. The effective strength as well as number of uses of this technique scale with the user, to a degree. For example, Mitch's own use of the technique wouldn't exceed the realm of peak human, and he can only use it once before risking injury. This technique shows off its true ability at rank 3, qi splitting off from the initial attack and creating another, albeit weaker.

To learn this secret art, one's arm must be prepped with alchemical treatments via acupuncture over a three month period, building something of a structure within the arm that acts as guides to the flow of qi and blood. Moreover, one must enter a unique mental state during the use of this technique, else it fail to activate. For a matter of training mental state, it can be mastered in a matter of hours or years depending on the practitioner.

Use of this secret is liable to cause bone fractures and circulation problems. Therefore, Boetius is always running out of medicines that can help treat this.
