  1. I'm surprised that people just post and make definitive statements without giving reasoning. Like, for example, it's almost certainly faster than Nidoking on everything except the big fights. Its cry is shorter and it is quicker in the beginning. I think it would be unwise to completely discard the idea without examining each step. Until you actually optimize a route for Clefable and run calculations or simulations comparing it to the other options, just listing the advantages of the other routes is not an answer. Also, I STRONGLY object to the notion that "theory only gets you so far". "Theory" is the answer to what you can spend a lifetime trying to get through pure execution. It's actually the other way around. Theory is the answer, actual speedrunning itself is just a simulation which can be used to estimate the answer.

  3. Kaizaron, you are exactly writing it off. I am not going to "just believe you" on faith without some actual numbers showing one factor is greater than the other. And you are simply dead wrong about theory. Theory can be conclusive if everything is accounted for with the theory. That is my goal, to conclusively solve the theory. I am not interested in actually performing speed runs myself, but rather solving the problem of optimality. As to the other posters, you are motivating me to actually put work into routing this, just to show you dicks just how important theory is, regardless of what is fast. When I talk about theory, I mean using a 100% accurate model to mathematically simulate runs, taking into consideration frames that it takes for every little piece. A frame-by-frame simulation is better than a simulation which contains human error, and I understand probability theory to where I could make customized routes based on different parameters. You also said really false stuff like theory (as in timing optimal runs) not being the conclusion, when the questions I asked can be answered conclusively without actually running the game manually. There is already PokeBot which does exactly that, but the simulations take too long for my liking which is why I am making my engine to trim them down. This isn't just theory as in a strategy; we are dealing with actual hypothetical runs.
