- Setup
- -------------------
- zpool data storage
- 3x5 raidz1 + 1 coldspare with 16x Seagate Barracuda Green 5900.3, 2TB
- zpool client data/VM
- 2x2 mirror with Seagate Barracuda LP ST32000542AS, 2TB
- 2x2 mirror with Samsung Spinpoint F1 HD103UJ, 1TB
- 1x1x with Crucial m4 CT064M4SSD2 64GB read cache
- 1x2x with Crucial m4 CT064M4SSD2 64GB mirror write cache
- zpool client OS
- 1x2x mirror with Crucial m4 CT128M4SSD2 128GB
- Motivation:
- data storage:
- Long term data storage where space efficiency counts, should do around 300MB sequential read/write.
- client data:
- Primarily used for incoming data files, two dozen low activity virtual machines and Windows 7 client bigger storage. Performance should be OKish with 2 striped 2TB disks and 2 striped 1TB disks combined with a 64GB mirror SSD of write-cache and 64GB read cache SSD. This would probably bit hit the hardest of all volumes.
- client OS:
- Used for Windows client booting, is a mirror of disks.
