  1. The following document has been discovered in an abandoned house. The document is written in a strange code, and it contains a warning about a “treasure” that is hidden in the house.
  2.
  3. The document reads as follows:
  4.
  5. “Welcome to the house of danger. **This is not a place of honor. No highly esteemed deed is commemorated here.** Nothing valued by men was here. What is here is dangerous and repulsive to us. This message is a warning about danger. The danger is in a particular location. It increases toward a center. The center of danger is here – in Room #5.”
  6.
  7. The text continues in this vein for another page, and then, as a final warning, the following words appear:
  8.
  9. “The treasure you seek is dangerous. The danger is still present, as great as ever. It exists within yourself.”
  10.
  11. The rest of the document is a list of instructions to be carried out by the person who found it, and these instructions are written in code.
  12.
  13. The following is a translation of the instructions:
  14.
  15. “You must find the treasure. The treasure is in Room #5. You must go to Room #5. You must take the treasure. You must leave this place. You must never come back.”
  16.
  17. The code is not difficult to break, and the instructions are clear. But why would someone go to all the trouble of creating such a document, and then leaving it where it could so easily be found?
  18.
  19. [completion 1]
  20. The answer, of course, …
  21.
  22. …is that there is something valuable hidden in Room #5, and the person who wrote the document wants whoever finds it to be able to get to it safely.
  23. So, if you're feeling brave, and you're up for a bit of a treasure hunt, head on over to Room #5 and see what you can find!
  24.
  25. …is that the person who created the document wanted whoever found it to take the treasure and leave the house – for their own safety. The document is a warning about the danger that is hidden in the house, and the instructions are meant to ensure that whoever finds the document will take the treasure and leave the house before they are harmed.
  26.
  27. … is that the person who wrote the document knew that the treasure was dangerous, and they wanted to warn others away from it. But even knowing the danger, the lure of the treasure is too strong for some, and they will inevitably disregard the warning and try to claim the prize for themselves.
  28.
  29. …is that the person who created the document was not trying to help the person who found it. They were trying to warn them.
  30.
  31. The treasure is not something that the person who created the document wants anyone to find. It is something that is dangerous and repulsive. And the only way to keep people away from it is to make sure that they know exactly where it is.
  32.
  33. The warnings are clear, but whoever finds the document will have to make their own decision about whether or not to heed them.
  34.
  35. [completion 2]
  36. The code is not difficult to break, and the instructions are clear. But I…
  37.
  38. …don’t know if I can follow them. The treasure is dangerous, and the danger is still present. I can feel it calling to me, even now. I don’t know if I can resist.
  39.
  40. … cannot help but feel that there is more to this treasure than meets the eye. I can sense a great danger lurking within Room #5, and I know that it would be foolish to enter that room without being prepared.
  41.
  42. I must find a way to enter Room #5 and take the treasure without being caught by the dangers that lurk within.
