Bio:
The Comtois family is a clan of some importance in Sivult. They’ve held a duchy of reasonable size near the Northern border of the land almost since it’s initial formation, as the founder aided heavily in the revolt - the founder being named Michael Comtois as well. This was the start of their long lineage. From the revolt to the present day they’ve been where they are, protecting the north-eastern border from aggressors and their own lands from bandits and other ne'er do wells.

The current-day Michael Comtois’ father, Mathys, was the product of several generations of protecting the country, and being taught of his heroic heritage - he strove to live up to his ancestor, trying to be a just and fair duke. It’s from his father that Michael (the fourth of 5 children), named for that ancestor, gains a lot of his personality traits - while he has the stubbornness and the ego expected of a man of such lineage, he looks up to his father and his ancestors and tries to be brave and, if he hasn’t had the time to get to ‘kind’ or ‘just’ yet, he’s at least got some skill at arms.

Michael’s profile came onto Jack’s desk for two reasons. One, the young man is quite skilled with sword and lance, overconfidence aside, and is similarly a skilled rider - two traits he’s shown protecting his family’s lands from bandit incursions (both actual bandits and “bandits” from Govitz). The second, is an individual in his employ who would be coming with him, one ‘Lucette’, with whom he was already familiar with. The two factors played heavily into the decision to pick him.
