Front End Web Developer

Health Gorilla is hiring a Front-End Web Developer who is motivated to combine the art of design with the art of programming. Responsibilities will include translation of the UI/UX design wireframes and HTML mockups to actual code that will produce visual elements of the application. You will work with the UI/UX designer and bridge the gap between graphical design and technical implementation, taking an active role on both sides and defining how the application looks as well as how it works.


RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES

Develop new user-facing features
Build reusable code and libraries for future use
Ensure the technical feasibility of UI/UX designs
Optimize application for maximum speed and scalability
Design desktop and mobile-based features
Help back-end developers with coding and troubleshooting
Collaborate with back-end developers and web designers to improve usability
Write functional requirement documents and guides
Collaborate with other team members and stakeholders
Participate in application testing and correcting known bugs
Stay up-to-date on emerging technologies
Ensure high quality graphic standards and brand consistency

KNOWLEDGE AND SKILL REQUIREMENTS

3+ years proven hands-on web development experience required
Proficient understanding of ReactJS and Typescript
Proficient understanding of web markup, including HTML5, CSS, JavaScript and Typescript
Good understanding of asynchronous request handling, partial page updates, and AJAX
Experience with REST API, GraphQL would be a plus.
Basic knowledge of image authoring tools, to be able to crop, resize, or perform small adjustments on an image. Familiarity with tools such as Gimp or Photoshop is a plus.
Proficient understanding of cross-browser compatibility issues and ways to work around them.
Experience working in an Agile/Scrum development process and tools (Jira, Confluence, GIT)
Strong understanding of layout aesthetics and good sense of taste
In-depth understanding of the entire web development process (design, development and deployment)
Experience working in distributed teams across multiple time zones
MS degree in computer science, Engineering or a related subject
Strong organizational and troubleshooting skills with attention to detail
Strong analytical ability, judgment and problem analysis techniques
Interpersonal skills with the ability to work effectively in a cross-functional team
