  54. The humans only understand the terror they feel and the apparent meaningless of killing humans for whatever alien purpose there is.
  55. There are no artificial intelligences or alien species terrorizing humans -- that's just fiction.
  56. But, those stories are allegories with us as the alien species.
  57. And you're seeing insight into how the animals we kill feel about our practices.

  81. We do the opposite.

  91. Hedrin: Are you able to spend an equal amount of posts describing the nature of the turkey's life?
  92. You've already reminded yourself of how much you like to get turkey carcasses hundreds of times in your life.
  93. Doing so again is of course boring and small.
  94. But, have you ever spent time wondering what it's like to be born into your one and only life as a turkey?

  103. You compared humans in civilization with full bellies and safety and science to turkeys in the wild.
  104. This is extremely unfair.
  105. Yeah, humans in civilizations with full bellies and safety and science act okay at times.
  106. They're not always retarded.
  107. And when turkeys also feel full and safe and loved you'll be surprised by their depth.
  108. What you should do is compare humans in war zones and refugee camps to turkeys in the wild.

  115. As they shit where they live, rape each other, and pray to invisible beings?
  116. There's a lot to feel contempt for, right.

  122. Many, many species like to eat and be insensitive to other animals.
  123. If that's the highest standard you're going to reach for as a human than you're not much better than a bear or a dingo.
  124. But, if you can ponder the realities of a turkey who has no ability to defend itself against our global civilization.
  125. If you can care deeply about its experience and lament the immense suffering their species feels as a result of the actions of our species.
  126. If you can wish they didn't feel that unnecessary suffering and hope for a day in which more humans are thoughtful about the well-being of all species.
  127. Then, brother, you have become a being of some honor, and I would admire that.
  128. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bodhisattva_vow
  129. The Bodhisattva vow is the vow taken by Mahayana Buddhists to liberate all sentient beings. One who has taken the vow is nominally known as a Bodhisattva. This can be done by venerating all Buddhas and by cultivating supreme moral and spiritual perfection, to be placed in the service of others. In particular, Bodhisattvas promise to practice the six perfections of giving, moral discipline, patience, effort, concentration and wisdom in order to fulfill their bodhicitta aim of attaining enlightenment for the sake of all beings.[1] Whereas the Prātimokṣa vows cease at death, the Bodhisattva vow extends into future lives.
