  1. Health is the measure of whether or not a person’s body and mind function as they should and how resilient the person is to illness and disease.
  2.
  3. We experience life through our bodies, so our health plays a huge role in how much we can do and how we feel. In the grand scheme of things, it can also influence our outlook on life.
  4.
  5. Health is an extremely broad term and can be defined in various ways. However, for the purpose of this site: A healthy person has a well functioning cardiovascular system, digestive system, and lymph system, all their organs function as they should, and there is no chemical imbalances. Also, the person is not genetically predisposed toward any serious illnesses and does not have any permanent injuries which leave the body functioning less then optimally. Moreover, the person has a strong immune system and recovers from minor injuries and physical conditioning at a normal, or higher than normal, rate. Finally, the individual’s tear and wear, such as tooth decay, eyesight degeneration, cartilage wear, etc occurs at a normal, or lower than normal rate.
  6.
  7. A healthy person is generally able to enjoy life more, as they spend less time in pain and recovering, and more time living. They are also able to hold more demanding jobs, such as those that involve stress, unusually long hours, unhealthy conditions, and/or physical labor, as they are not immediately crushed by such jobs. In terms of appearance and charisma, healthy people tend to look better, as they look youthful and free of “defects.” In addition, healthy people tend to have an easier time being friendly and engaged, as they are not in pain, exhausted from normal things, uncomfortable, suffering from side effects of medication, or trying to suppress a socially unacceptable physical condition. Healthy people naturally have an easier time with fitness as well, as there us no pain and innate weakness holding back their development.
  8.
  9. On the other hand, unhealthy people tend to suffer in all of these areas. Their health serves as a huge limit to what they can and cannot do. Depending on the severity of the condition, some of these people cannot even look after themselves. Some cannot veer far from civilization or major hospitals, as they often require professional medical care and/or medicine just to survive. Some have to spend the majority of their time and money just to keep their condition at bay.
  10.
  11. Naturally, health is a huge limiting factor in what kinds of jobs individuals can hold.
