  1. -
  2. 21. Rain
  3. - Twenty years have passed since the Rebellion, and things have settled down. Majin, Hanako, and Cyrus, all three without a place to return to, moved into the same house, located in Lumina, or rather, New Cheruba. Tenebrae was renamed Lumina. Majin and Hanako now have a teenage son, Kazesho. Majin and Kazesho leave for a walk through the city. Majin held an umbrella up, covering the two from the rain. They were soon approached by an Empire soldier, a former Rebel, like most of the Rebels had decided to become. His presence was requested by the current emperor, Valefar, the man who once led Ulciscor. Majin leaves with the soldier, giving his umbrella to Kazesho and telling him to return to the house before the rain worsens. As Kazesho heads home, he encounters a girl.
  4. 22. Phoenix
  5. - Kazesho meets a girl named Uyen. Upon finding she is homeless, Kazesho takes her to his house, where he hopes to convince his parents to allow her to stay. Elsewhere, Majin has knocked the soldier out. In the soldier's hand is a stun gun. Majin continues his journey to Lumina alone. He sways, dodging a bullet he pretends to be unaware of. In that instant, Majin grabs his sword and swings it in the direction of where the attack came from, and a line of fire erupts from his blade, crashing through the window of a nearby house. Majin begins running to Lumina, curious to find out why he is wanted by Valefar. The next day, Uyen is now a member of the house. Kazesho and Uyen travel around New Cheruba and later gain a friend in another their age, a guy named Zanacross. Majin has finally arrived in Lumina, Cyrus is now with him as well. Only one person stands in the way of the palace. He reveals himself as Phoenix, the commander of Valefar's army, and a powerful fighter, undefeated in combat. Cyrus battles Phoenix while Majin runs past him, heading inside. There, Majin encounters Valefar. Majin turns to find the only entrance into the room is blocked by shadow tentacles. It is then that Majin asks Valefar a question. He asks if he is Edtome. Valefar tells him he is half correct. Majin comes to the conclusion that the orphan, Edward, and the Rebel, Valefar were put under some sort of mind control. Valefar tells him he is correct, but upon being asked by whom, he does not elaborate. Majin hears someone slam into a wall outside, and Valefar wonders if Phoenix is finished with his fight. Phoenix enters the room, tossing an unconscious Cyrus onto the floor. The door is once again blocked by shadows. Valefar then gives Majin an order to transfer Septem to someone besides Adam, Cyrus, and Hanako or the entire population of New Cheruba will be killed.
  6. 23. Slaughter
  7. - Without thinking, Majin complies. Majin transfers Septem to Kazesho, and tells Valefar he gave it to a random civilian in New Cheruba. Valefar calls him foolish, and prepares for a full scale assault on the city of New Cheruba. Valefar and Phoenix arrive in New Cheruba with thousands of soldiers, revealing the man who defeated Amon is hostage to the city. Valefar explains that they want the person who possesses Septem, and, if their demands are not met, the city will fall. Majin tries to argue that they don't know they have the power. Valefar's response to him is that the city's population will simply be reduced to zero. After a few moments, nobody has come forward. Valefar orders his soldiers to begin the attack. People are hunted down and killed, houses are broken into, among other things. Zanacross is killed during all this. After some time, a group calling themselves Rebels appear and fight back. A Rebel named Alex locates Kazesho's house and offers him the chance to join the Rebels and rescue his father. A group of soldiers appear, and Alex grabs Kazesho and Uyen, hiding them. The sound of gunshots from within his home are all Kazesho needs to comprehend his mother has just been killed.
  8. 24. Amor
  9. - After the soldiers leave, Alex, Kazesho, and Uyen encounter a mysterious cloaked man. He tells Kazesho of what Majin did twenty years ago, stopping the Empire utilizing the power given to him. Kazesho accepts when asked to use this power called Septem to stop Valefar and his plans. The man disappears as quickly and silently as he appeared. Kazesho leaves Uyen under Alex's protection, and runs into the streets at an inhuman speed. After a few minutes of searching, Kazesho finds the vehicle with Valefar, an intimidating soldier, and two people tied up, one being his father. The soldier, Phoenix, spots Kazesho and attacks him. Kazesho evades the attack and runs up to Majin and Cyrus. Kazesho creates a knife in his hand from nothing, and slices the ropes up. Before Valefar can react, the knife in Kazesho's hand transforms into a sword he names Amor. Amor is swung, beheading Valefar. However, Valefar's head regenerates. Instead though, a featureless black head is created, much like Edtome's. The rest of Valefar's body changes to reflect this. Rather than a black pool, an army of tentacles extend out from Valefar's back. Majin and Cyrus are barely able to dodge another flurry of attacks from Phoenix. Kazesho causes the sword in his hand to disappear, and jumps off the vehicle with Majin and Cyrus, fighting their way through the incoming soldiers. Kazesho analyzes the situation as they run. A mass of soldiers surround them. One of the greatest warriors in the world is behind them, followed by a tentacle themed monster, a puppet for an unknown puppetmaster. Kazesho creates two swords and tosses them to Majin and Cyrus, then creates a copy of Amor. This is where the battle begins.
  10. 25. Shattered
  11. - Looking back, Kazesho notices Valefar has disappeared. Phoenix however, is in pursuit of the three. Majin, Cyrus, and Kazesho split up, deciding to go after all the soldiers before taking on Valefar and Phoenix. Phoenix follows Kazesho, intent on keeping the power of Septem in check. Once Majin and Cyrus are far enough away, Kazesho spins around and slams into Phoenix, finally catching him off guard and knocking him over. Kazesho becomes increasingly frustrated as the fight continues, unable to land a single hit on Phoenix. As Kazesho begins to realize his movements are inhuman, Phoenix reminds him he is not unique in possessing the power of Septem. The battle ends in Phoenix's favor, Kazesho flees, unable to match Phoenix's fighting abilities. Upon arriving to the area where Alex and Uyen were, he finds Alex. To his horror, he finds that Uyen has been killed, and Alex is wounded. Before Alex stands a nightmare, the thing that could once be called Valefar. Phoenix catches up and joins them, and Valefar orders the soldiers nearby and Phoenix to retreat. Valefar leaves, sparing Kazesho, telling him he will destroy everything. Departing, Phoenix questions Valefar's actions. Valefar has decided to let Kazesho live, at the price of losing everything he once knew. Valefar earlier was unable to find Majin and Cyrus, and gave up on it, as they are mere humans now. Phoenix remains silent, wondering if this is truly their correct course of action. Kazesho is left alone, his mother dead, along with the first friend he ever had.
  12. 26. The Second Rebellion
  13. - Majin and Cyrus return the next day, now certain all the soldiers have left New Cheruba. Majin and Cyrus organize the Rebels that fought off the soldiers. There are about a hundred of them, divided into small groups of three or four. The other two members of Alex's group are Nathan and Rhy. The leader of these Rebels is a man known only as Dirge. Majin has brought Kazesho along, who has been quiet and unreponsive since his encounter with Valefar the previous day. When Majin asks for Kazesho's assistance, Kazesho tells him to take Septem back. Majin's response is that he gave Septem to him for a reason. That reason was not to get rid of it. Kazesho is eventually convinced to lead the attack in Lumina, not willing to let Valefar cause any more damage. Two days pass, and the attack begins. Nothing more than a full frontal assault on the gate of Lumina, just as it was twenty years ago. Leading the charge is a teenager with the power to do anything. Kazesho creates Amor in his hand from nothing, and swings it. Razor wind springs from the sword, slicing down the gate. Valefar's soldiers intercept the Rebels. Cyrus battles alongside Alex's group while Majin and Dirge search for Phoenix. Kazesho battles his way through the soldiers and enters the palace, ready to face Valefar.
  14. 27. A Promise to Dirge
  15. - While Kazesho confronts Valefar, Majin and Dirge encounter the commander of Valefar's army, the man with the power of Septem, unrivaled in battle, a fiercesome foe called Phoenix. After a few moments, it becomes obvious how outclassed Majin and Dirge are. They are forced into a defensive state, unable to do anything but block or dodge Phoenix's endless attacks. The palace's doors are kicked open, Kazesho is backing up out through the entrance. Valefar is slowly approaching him, numerous tentacles extending from his back. Phoenix acknowledges Valefar, calling him pathetic. Valefar questions his statement, and Phoenix tells him that his decision to leave New Cheruba was as stupid as could be. The real reason Valefar chose to leave was simply the fact that he only desires to kill those with happiness, and decided to spare the crushed Kazesho out of pity. In truth, Valefar's life was most likely awful, and his entire existence is to fill his envious ambition of destroying everything he was unable to have. He is even unable to create a body of his own, a goal he has worked deeply on, and instead infects those happy humans he despises so much. Phoenix tells him to stand aside, and says he will exterminate humanity on his own. Charging forward at an incomprehensible speed, Majin's chest is pierced by Phoenix's blade. He falls back in a pool of blood. Not even a second later, Dirge is the next attacked. He managed to dodge the lightning fast strike completely, yet a cut still runs down his right shoulder. Kazesho blocks the next attack aimed at Dirge, and Dirge speaks to Kazesho. He gives Kazesho one order. That order is to not die. Kazesho nods, and Dirge falls on the ground, now unconscious. Meanwhile, all of the soldiers have been eliminated. About half of the Rebels remain, including Alex, Nathan, and Rhy. They watch as Kazesho faces off against Phoenix. The two fighters of unlimited potential stare at each other, motionless. The two strongest people in the entire world are about to fight to the death. Humanity's fate is on the line.
  16. 28. Cold Heart
  17. -Kazesho creates and swings Amor. Phoenix dodges a blast of wind that smashes through a wall behind him and attempts to behead Kazesho. Kazesho dodges the attack. The battle goes on for what feels like forever. All the while, Kazesho is asking Phoenix his motive for wanting to wipe out humanity. As their conversation drags on, it becomes increasingly more clear that Phoenix harbors a vicious hatred for everything around him. To prove his superiority in battle, Phoenix attacks once more, slashing at Kazesho. Kazesho blocks the blow, however, blood runs down the side of his face. Defying logic and what is seen, Phoenix's attack still manages to land. Filled with newfound strength, Phoenix unleashes a barrage of attacks, each one blocked or dodged by Kazesho. Unfortunately, each one still appears as a wound. Covered in blood, Kazesho has no idea how to defeat this enemy. Only two things remained on Kazesho's mind. His mission to defeat Phoenix, and the last words of Dirge before he lost consciousness. He must both defeat Phoenix and survive. Phoenix charges forward, this attack with more murderous intent than all previous ones. This time, Kazesho does not evade it. The rapier slices into the side of Kazesho's neck, and he grabs it, pulling it from Phoenix's hand. A burst of razor wind pushes Phoenix back, cutting up his sleeves and cutting his cheek. Blood trickles down Kazesho's neck. He aims the sword straight at Phoenix, telling him their fight is far from over.
  18. 29. Acceleration
  19. - Kazesho lunges ahead, aiming to stab the defenseless Phoenix. Phoenix imitates Kazesho's actions, creating a new weapon from nothing and parrying the attack. Kazesho presses his blade against Phoenix's and unleashes a high burst of wind, sending him back several inches. The wind itself inflicts tiny cuts on Phoenix's body. Taking the sudden chance, Majin leaps from the ground and stabs Phoenix with Hansuru from behind, straight from his back to his stomach. Phoenix coughs blood, looking at Majin with fury. In a split second, Phoenix kicks Kazesho to the ground, causes Hansuru to fade out of existence, and slashes Majin once more. A deep wound from his left shoulder to his right side sprays blood everywhere. Satisfied that he was finally able to land a hit on Phoenix, Majin falls back, telling Kazesho to end it. As Phoenix turns his head, Kazesho dashes forward, penetrating his chest. Kazesho's shout resonates with the air, and a powerful blast of razor wind directs itself at Phoenix. The sound barrier is broken, and a hole is blown through the undefeated warrior, Phoenix. Phoenix's memories flash before him for an instant. Some, if not all people, desire to be the best at something. Phoenix desired to be the best warrior. One day, he met a strange woman. She entrusted him with a power that would instantly make him the best there ever was. Phoenix set out to prove his superiority in combat, and challenged various foes. Along the way, though, he became increasingly more distant from everyone else. Everyone was a potential enemy he needed to defeat, and he began to hate his enemies. He needed a challenge. It soon presented itself in the form of the emperor, Valefar. Valefar recruited Phoenix as the commander of his army. That day, they swore to wipe out every other human on the planet. It was all to satisfy his thirst for battle. What Phoenix really wanted the entire time though was simpler than it seemed to be. His only desire was to lose. Realizing he had been speaking about it the entire time, he turns his attention to Kazesho and thanks him. Phoenix falls, now a defeated warrior. The life within him fades, his desire fulfilled. Kazesho gets up, ready to rest. He turns around, and the terrible realization hit him as he sees it. The other of the two has been watching the entire thing this whole time. Valefar is leaning against a wall, looking bored.
  20. 30. Foreshadowing
  21. - Kazesho enters a battle stance, staring Valefar down. Valefar slides the tentacles back into him and tells Kazesho not to bother. Valefar assures everyone present that he still intends to exterminate humanity. The next time they meet, he will have a body of his own. Violet sparks surround Valefar for an instant, and he passes out. A voice echoes throughout Lumina. The voice says to Kazesho they will meet again. Immediately after the disappearance of the one who infected Valefar, a man appeared. His face was concealed. He was wrapped in a cloak. Majin spills blood trying to speak, on the edge of death. Majin looks at Kazesho, then to the man. He asks the man not to do it a second time, leaving things too vague for anyone else to understand. The man nods. Majin turns to the sky and says he's decided to rest with Hanako. Majin closes his eyes. The man shrouded in mystery turns to Kazesho, noting the losses he has been through. He undoes a small portion of the damage the posessor of Valefar has done. That small portion matters significantly for one person, though. That is his reason for doing it. Caaz once saw a miracle like this. A bright light shines in front of the man. As it fades, a life is created from the light. The man revives the girl named Uyen. He departs, lifting the spirit of a stifled soul.
