  1. GODZILLA: heavily mutated individual of unknown reptile species native to japan
  2. YAMAGOKI: heavily mutated japanese cockroach. not sure what its power is.
  3.
  4. - Godzilla is not born from nuclear testing exactly. Rather, he's born more directly from the atomic bombings of Japan in 1945, as is Yamagoki. While Yamagoki travels north to Russia to feed on radiation from the tests over the coming decades, Godzilla resides in the Pacific Ocean and thrives on the radiation from the tests there, both growing larger with time. Their first encounter was near the Bikini Atoll in 1954, where Godzilla (having freshly acquired a great amount of radioactive energy) scored against the giant roach. Their second encounter was near the site of the Tsar Bomba explosion in 1961, with Yamagoki trouncing Godzilla before the latter's retreat back into the oceans. Both the Soviet Union and the United States were at the very least vaguely aware of their existences, but never came to any sensible conclusions regarding the unexplained anomalies surrounding the tests; as both were hidden by the radioactive fireballs and subsequent great glowing blast clouds.
  5.
  6. - The two later encountered each other again in the 1990s, causing great disturbance to vessels in the Pacific Ocean during the stormy seasons. In 1998, out of desperation, Godzilla takes across the Panama Canal by night and makes his way to the Atlantic Ocean, swimming north to avoid Yamagoki. It is at this point that the United States Government gets its head out of its ass and realizes the connection between the anomalies and these new reports of a giant creature. A Japanese sailor aboard a fishing trawler caught up in one of the battles is interviewed and claims to have seen a mythological creature, a beast of legend from his native island, lending the creature its name: "Gojira." It is at this point that a team of scientists is assembled to research what this "Gojira" is.
  7.
  8. - Mid-March 1998. Godzilla is tracked through the Atlantic Ocean for a time by the US Navy and with the help of a few NATO nations before the nuclear submarines are summarily attacked and destroyed by the monster as they lose track of him. The USAF and Army are alerted to be on standby in the Northeast United States, but it proves almost too late: Godzilla makes landfall in NYC soon after, storming through the city. Every tank round and missile volley thrown his way seems to harm him to some degree, but the wounds surely heal by the end of the day, and his resolve keeps growing. This full assault, full of tanks, fighter jets, and helicopters, proves a failure, merely wounding the beast. A scientist, having studied the effects of radiation on animals, observes that Godzilla is likely the first known case of a truly radiotrophic vertebrate -- and soon realizes where he's headed: the Indian Point Nuclear Power Plant.
  9.
  10. - At the same time, the Mayor of New York City and a news reporter, both caught up in the calamity that just went down, arrive at the base camp within the confines of the city. The Mayor expresses concern over the state of the city, while the news reporter has captured footage of the monster directly, giving them a clear view of just what it is they're dealing with: a giant reptilian creature, like an outdated reconstruction of a dinosaur, with enormous spines which seem to vent steam periodically. The rainfall that reaches its back evaporates to mist, leaving a trail of vapors behind it. They soon put two and two together: that this creature runs like a giant reactor, venting off excess heat through its spines. And its a reactor that needs fuel -- although it seems to them like it's running fine.
  11.
  12. So why is it heading for the nuclear plant?
  13.
  14. - The wounded monster takes a lie-down in the Hudson River, and the Navy sends a small number of vessels up to surround it -- not to kill it, but to make sure it doesn't "try anything funny". The orders: let it rest, and let it eat. As the night goes on, the ships near the sleeping giant make close passes to observe the state of the monster, watching as its wounds heal overnight through the rising mist surrounding its now-cooling body. At about 1:30 AM, Godzilla gets up from its nap and strolls over to the pre-evacuated nuclear plant. Unfortunately, thanks to damage caused to one of the vessels as it gets up, the Navy opens fire, prompting Godzilla to retaliate angrily, making an example of one of the vessels and roaring at the other two in a display of dominance, wrecking it in the river before making his way to the power plant.
  15.
  16. - Ripping into Reactor 2, the kaiju finds the reactor core and begins to lift it from the bowels of the power plant. Unfortunately, shrouded in the night, another bogey starts closing in on their location. Yamagoki has arrived. The giant roach lands east of Godzilla, skidding across the neighborhood as it lands and turns to face its opponent. Godzilla stares at Yamagoki and tears open the core, ravenously devouring the uranium within before ripping the remaining reactor in half, roaring at the bug and spraying reactor water everywhere.
  17.
  18. - Thus begins the first real fight. Godzilla and Yamagoki square off in Westchester, leveling much of the county as they battle. Godzilla seems to have the upper hand at first, but Yamagoki soon enough begins pulling Godzilla around. The giant cockroach is too fast for even Godzilla, and is thrown into the Hudson through a building, knocking it out. Yamagoki perches atop the George Washington Bridge, lets out a chittering scream, and buzzes off into the heart of Manhattan, leaving behind a wounded and unconscious Godzilla collapsed against the cliffs of the Palisades.
