  1. The Manifesto was published as the platform of the Autistic Guild, a community of autistic inviduals, first published exclusively in the English language, and later freely published in other languages and methods of communication, and under the political and social conditions of the world in 2023 AD, unavoidably an underground society. Under their own accord, in March 2023, the guild decided to prepare a complete theoretical and practical programme. Drawn up in English, the manifesto was written and distributed. This manifesto can be distributed and shared freely, as long as it remains unaltered.

  3. Preface
  4. A new spectre is haunting the world - the spectre of the autistic struggle. Autistic people have long been ostracized and misunderstood by mainstream society, treated as a burden or a problem to be solved rather than as individuals with unique perspectives and strengths. All around the world, autistic people have been denied their basic human rights, subjected to harmful therapies and forced conformity, and relegated to the margins of society.
  5.
  6. But this is beginning to change. Autistic people are coming together to form a movement, to demand recognition, acceptance, and autonomy. We are pushing back against the ableist assumptions that have long dominated public discourse about autism, and insisting that our voices be heard.
  7.
  8. Two things result from this fact:
  9.
  10. I. Autism is already acknowledged by some people to be a valid way of being in the world, and an important part of human diversity.
  11.
  12. II. It is high time that Autistics should openly, in the face of the whole world, publish our views, our aims, our tendencies, and meet the prejudices and misconceptions about autism with a manifesto of our own.
  13.
  14. To this end, Autistics of various backgrounds and cultures have come together to craft this manifesto, to be shared with the world in multiple languages. We urge everyone to listen to our voices, to learn from our experiences, and to work with us to create the needed changes to create a world that is truly inclusive of all neurodiverse people.
  15.
  16. Chapter I: The Neurotypicals and Neurodivergents
  17. Comrades, we, the autistic people, under the umbrella term of neurodivergent people, have been subjected to severe injustice at the hands of our families, teachers, employers, and other authorities, who are the neurotypical ruling class. We have been tormented, battered, sexually violated, ostracized, and excluded by our oppressors.
  18.
  19. As per the US National Autism Association's survey on autistic children, over half of us have endured physical or emotional abuse by our peers. About half of us have suffered physical assaults by peers or non-autistic siblings. Nearly 10% have been victims of vicious group attacks, some of which include striking the genitals, while about 12% have never been invited to social events.
  20.
  21. Shocking statistics reveal that 1 in 6 autistic boys and 1 in 4 autistic girls experience sexual abuse before reaching adulthood. Moreover, autistic children are 10 times more likely to experience physical abuse by parents or guardians. Globally, only about 9% of autistic people enter into marriage.
  22.
  23. Regrettably, in non-epileptic autistic adults, the primary cause of death is suicide. The United States Department of Labor notes that a staggering 85% of autistic adults are unemployed, even though the National Autism Association reveals that 44% or more demonstrate above-average intelligence, and only about 40% are nonverbal. This high unemployment rate is not due to autism, but rather due to the employers' lack of acceptance and accommodation. Surprisingly, the United States employs the most autistic people per capita in the developed world. Canada's autistic unemployment rate is 86%, and the United Kingdom's is 88%.
  24.
  25. As if this were not enough, autistic people are deprived of basic citizen privileges, such as a driver's license, in developed countries worldwide. We are denied organ transplants, immigration, and the right to serve in the military or own firearms. Governments like Australia have been known to deport autistic individuals born in their country. In the United States, we can be forcibly hospitalized if we have a meltdown in public, which results in a loss of freedom and a substantial financial burden.
  26.
  27. So called “organizations” such as Autism Speaks have been researching a "cure" for decades while spreading fear of autism. Their primary objective is to identify the cause of autism and eradicate it. In their ideal world, all pregnancies would be screened for autism, and all autistic pregnancies would be terminated. They aim to ensure that none of us are ever born again and that those of us who are already alive will never be accepted by society.
  28.
  29. This is genocide. This is intolerable. It aligns with the definition of genocide in Article II of the UN Convention on the Prevention and Punishment of the Crime of Genocide.
  30.
  31. The world neuro-typical population's general consensus is that autistic people are subhuman and do not deserve the same rights and privileges as citizens of their respective countries. This is because neurotypical people have an implicit subconscious bias against us. As per a study by the US National Institute of Health, neuro-typical individuals unconsciously judge interactions with autistic people to be less favorable, making these assessments within 90 seconds, irrespective of age.
  32.
  33. Autism is regarded as a disease, a cancer, something that needs to be eradicated. The autistic individual is viewed as defective, weak, foolish, and useless. They do not like us. They do not want us. They will never accept us.
  34.
  35. Chapter II. The Autistic Guild
  36.
  37. In what relation does the Autistic Guild stand to the neurodivergent people as a whole?
  38.
  39. The Autistic Guild is not a movement that is opposed to the neurodivergent rights movements, but we do stand opposed to the lack of any change done by those movements.
  40.
  41. We use our name to seperate us from the nonsensical terms used widely.
  42.
  43. The distinguishing feature of the Autistic Guild is its opposition to the misuse and overuse of the term "autistic" in modern society. The word has been so heavily used and misappropriated that its meaning has become lost and indistinct, leading to the marginalization of genuine autistic individuals.
  44.
  45. The advent of social media in our time has only exacerbated this problem, as individuals falsely claiming to be autistic have garnered attention and popularity. These individuals do a great disservice to the autistic community by perpetuating stereotypes and caricatures that do not accurately represent the lived experiences of autistic people. Some of these individuals claim that their intention is to spread “awareness”, if that is their intention, they are spreading the wrong type of awareness.
  46.
  47. The Autistic Guild stands in opposition to this temporary trend. We believe that it is essential to uphold the integrity of the term "autistic" by accurately representing the experiences and struggles of those who genuinely identify as such. This means rejecting those who falsely claim the identity for personal gain or attention.
  48.
  49. Furthermore, the Autistic Guild recognizes that autism is not a uniform experience. Autistic people have different needs, abilities, and preferences, and any approach to supporting autistic individuals must be flexible and tailored to the individual's needs.
  50.
  51. The Autistic Guild advocates for increased understanding and accommodation of autistic individuals in all aspects of society, including education, employment, and healthcare. We reject the notion that autistic individuals should be forced to fit into the neurotypical mold and instead strive for a world that values and accommodates neurodiversity.
  52.
  53. The guild recognizes that the fight for autistic liberation is not just about changing laws and policies, but also about changing the hearts and minds of people. The guild is committed to challenging the stigma and discrimination that autistic people face, and to raising awareness about the value and contributions of autistic people to society.
  54.
  55. The selfish misconception that induces you to transform into an individual that is palatable to modern society, the social norms and trends surrounding our people most be eradicated, and destroyed at the source.
  56.
  57. Chapter III. Autistic and Neurodivergent Movements
  58.
  59. The various types of autistic people, including “high functioning” and “low functioning”, and those with co-occurring conditions, have led to misunderstandings and misrepresentations of the autistic community. These misunderstandings have led to the formation of different movements, each with its own goals and objectives. A “movement” here is defined as a group of thought, shared by many individuals.
  60.
  61. The first movement is the neurodiversity movement. This movement advocates for the acceptance of neurodivergent individuals and the celebration of neurological diversity. The movement recognizes that neurological differences are natural variations in the human experience and should not be pathologized or cured. The neurodiversity movement seeks to promote understanding, acceptance, and accommodation for neurodivergent individuals in all areas of life. However, little actual progress has been made, with this movement mainly just speaking and expressing, and not taking any genuine action and many of our kind are still subjected to so called “assistance” and “help”. This is only a facade built by neureotypicals who do not express any genuine positive intentions, whether explicitly or implicitly. Since the neurodivergent movement has failed to make any improvements to our situation, we are opposed to that aspect of it, even though we are united in our struggle.
  62.
  63. Another movement is the autism cure movement. This movement advocates for the elimination of autism through medical research and intervention. The autism cure movement views autism as a disorder that needs to be cured or eliminated. This approach has been criticized by the neurodiversity movement, as it pathologizes autism and ignores neurological diversity. This movement has propagated much great suffering for autistic people, leading to their struggle for basic rights.
  64.
  65. There is also the parent-led autism advocacy movement, which aims to raise awareness and advocate for the needs of autistic individuals, particularly children. While this movement has good intentions, it has been criticized by some members of the autistic community for promoting a deficit-focused approach and often failing to listen to the voices of autistic individuals themselves. It is notable that the parent-led movement is focused only on children, with many belonging to this movement “trolling” or overwise trying to make autistic people seem foolish. With autistic people on Reddit in particular being subjected to this unacceptable behaviour.
  66.
  67. Finally, there is the Autistic Guild, a movement that stands in opposition to the mainstream autism advocacy movements. The Autistic Guild rejects how autism is considered a disability and instead consider it as a divergent way of thinking. The guild advocates for the rights of autistic individuals to self-determination, autonomy, and collective action. The Autistic Guild is critical of the neurodiversity movement for being too focused on acceptance and not doing enough in its intentions for systemic change. At the same time, the Autistic Guild opposes the autism cure and parent-led advocacy movements for their focus on fixing or controlling autistic individuals.
  68.
  69. The so-called "Social Media Movement" is not a movement at all, but a gross misunderstanding of autism perpetuated by non-autistic individuals seeking popularity and attention. This trend not only exacerbates existing stereotypes and discrimination, but it also harms genuine autistic individuals by making their struggle even harder. By reducing autism to a mere trend or fashion statement, social media influencers and their followers only contribute to the marginalization of true autistic individuals and fail to address the complex and nuanced reality of the autistic experience. The Autistic Guild stands in opposition to this harmful trend and seeks to educate, raise awareness and take action about the realities of autism.
  70.
  71. It is important to recognize the diversity of perspectives within the autistic community and to listen to the voices of autistic individuals themselves. While the neurodiversity movement has made some progress in promoting acceptance and accommodation for autistic individuals, there is still much work to be done to ensure that all autistic people are able to live fulfilling and autonomous lives.
  72.
  73. Chapter IV. Position of the Autistic Guild in Relation to the Various Existing Opposition Parties
  74.
  75. The Autistic Guild is a new force in the world, born out of the struggles of autistic people against the discrimination and marginalization they face. As such, it stands in opposition to all existing social movements who have failed to address the needs and concerns of the autistic community.
  76.
  77. The aim of the Autistic Guild is to achieve true liberation for autistic people, to create a world in which they can live without fear of discrimination or marginalization. To achieve this aim, the Autistic Guild recognizes the need for radical change in society. It recognizes that the current social and economic system is fundamentally flawed, and that it must be replaced with a new system based on the principles of social justice, equality, and human dignity.
  78.
  79. The Autistic Guild is not aligned with any existing movement, as they have all failed to truly represent the interests of autistic people. The Social Media movement, for example, is not a true movement at all but a gross misunderstanding of autism, used for popularity and attention. This harms true autistic people, making their struggles harder and reinforcing negative stereotypes and discrimination.
  80.
  81. Instead, the Autistic Guild aims to build a new movement, a movement that is truly representative of the needs and concerns of autistic people. This movement will be built on the principles of solidarity, mutual aid, and collective action. It will aim to educate society on the true nature of autism, and work to dismantle the barriers that prevent autistic people from fully participating in society.
  82.
  83. The Autistic Guild understands that true liberation for autistic people cannot be achieved without the overthrow of the current society’s way of thought. As such, it stands in opposition to neurotypical ideals and treatment of autism, which has created a society that is hostile to the needs and concerns of autistic people. It recognizes the need for a new society, one that is based on the principles of cooperation, mutual aid, and unity in diversity.
  84.
  85. In conclusion, the Autistic Guild is a new force in the world, born out of the struggles of autistic people against discrimination and marginalization. It stands in opposition to all existing societies and movements, recognizing that they have all failed to truly represent the interests of autistic people. The Autistic Guild aims to build a new movement, one that is truly representative of the needs and concerns of autistic people. It understands that true liberation for autistic people can only be achieved through the overthrow of the current social and economic system.
