- - Save a template with the core elements you need for Melodic Techno:
- 1. Low end
- 2. Main Lead
- 3. Front melody
- 4. Back melody
- 5. Low Pads
- 6. High Pads
- 7. Clap/Snare - combine with reverse/ sweeping clap on the 4th clap (deadmau5 style)
- 8. Hats
- 9. Ride
- 10. Perc / Perc Loop (these sound good with delays)
- 11. Shaker loop (EQ out lows, delay, sidechain compression)
- - Usually will have two kicks. One lower end that comes in after 16 bars and one higher one. Can also just automate to HP the low-end with EQ.
- - For the Lead, try having one with delay that is wider and one without. Use sidechain compression, EQ, and some filtering to make sounds more interesting
- - Atmospheric Pads
- - Atmospheric Vox for the feels
- - Risers, Sweeps, Impacts
- - use Gain utility to make sure the sub and Kick are in mono
- - Synth Swell (common in this genre at the end of a segment). OTT, Camelphat / Sausage Fattener, EQ, Reverb, then Delay to make it sound Epic.
- ===============================================================
- - Start with Kick, usually want one that's very punchy.
- - Next add Pads. Add sub-oscilattor to make it sound deeper / more aggressive, and then add chorus and Plate Reverb to build the ambience.
- - Note: when adding in chorus, since it makes the stereo image wider, you may be at risk for phasing issues later on, so add in some Mid-Side EQ to cut some lower end for the sides, and then boost some mids for the middle
- - For the high pads, use a different sound that contrasts from the sound of the low pads. Can also give the high-pads more attack so it comes in abit smoother. Can also add some movement with an LFO
