- Lore:
- Kokuujin'Zantetsu is a man of Ionian origin famous for his ability to master two styles and maintain proficiency in both. Many wonder at what gives him the drive to learn and master two completely different styles, and he has earned a hefty reputation for what he has done in his lifetime. However, the secret to his motivation lies not in hard work, nor dedication, or even supernatural powers, but in something far more human and yet inhuman. At his core, Kokuujin'Zantetsu is a man who wears many faces.
- Kokuujin'Zantetsu did not always have the name everyone knows him by. As a child, he went by the more simple name of Savien. Savien was neither particularly strong nor extremely intelligent, but one thing that never failed to escape notice was how different he seemed to be every day. One day, he would be friendly and amiable, the next cold and standoffish, and the next after that brash and arrogant. He had very few friends because his shifting personality made him extremely unpredictable, and the few people he was friends with were never on close terms with him, save for a young girl called Aloine who never seemed to mind how unpredictable he was, almost as if she understood him on a level deeper than he understood himself. He wasn't bullied, but he wasn't acknowledged much either.
- When the Noxus-Ionia conflict broke out, Savien was one of the only survivors in his village. He was lucky enough to be called away on errands to the Shojin Monastery at the time, and the Noxus army had moved on to other areas of Ionia by the time he got back. However, seeing the destruction of his village and the cold-blooded murder the Noxians were capable of broke something in Savien, and a flood of emotions coursed through him as he attempted to come to terms with his first glimpse of what war was. Fear, anger, rage, guilt, confusion, sadness, depression, joy, happiness, elation...it was all too much for him, and he fell unconscious in minutes. Hours later, he woke up. He was still on an emotional rollercoaster, but he forced himself to detach himself from his emotions while he surveyed the destruction. Many houses appeared to have been set on fire, and many people had died during the invasion of his village, and not very peacefully either. However, for all that the village was razed, Savien could not find Aloine in the ruined village. Perhaps she had survived the invasion?
- Having nowhere to go and still coming to terms with his conflicted emotions, Savien made the trip to the Shojin Monastery, feeling himself slipping into madness from not being able to understand his emotions with every step, but again forcing himself to be detached from his emotions. Upon arriving at the Shojin Monastery, Savien asked for sanctuary. Even though the monastery was almost full with people who were critically wounded or had nowhere else to go, the monks took him in. He stayed in the monastery for years, first learning from Lee Sin how to control his emotions, then taking up a battle style specializing in winning battles through brute force and crowd control, then another specializing in being one with the wind. He shocked his teachers with his ability to master two styles at once and wield them with the skill of a man who had dedicated himself to one style only, and over time, he was able to manipulate his emotions to the point where he could change personalities at the drop of a hat, making him extremely efficient at adapting to the current situation, if not especially unsettling as a person.
- Savien left the Shojin Monastery shortly after demonstrating mastery in his two styles and took on the name of Kokuujin'Zantetsu out of respect to his teachers. His name has become famous in Ionia, but Kokuujin'Zantetsu has other things in mind besides the usual fame and fortune. He fights in the League for retribution against Noxus and their key commanders, and perhaps to find Aloine again. But there is one other reason that Kokuujin'Zantetsu doesn't acknowledge but knows deep down---he fights because he knows that he will never be truly accepted into society due to his unnatural 'personalities' that make him extremely standoffish at best, and he knows that history always glosses over the finer details in the retelling of its story. Put another way, he fights to die and become immortalized as a legend because he will not be accepted any other way.
