- Alice recently heard of a cool technique called 7-3-1, which can be used to create NPCs, locations, and encounters for use in tabletop roleplaying games. Here are two example 7-3-1 profiles:
- 1. Name: Charlie Steele, a local politician
- Motivation: to convince the player characters to join him in his campaign against his enemies
- Sensory details: the smell of old cologne; an ill-fitting, frayed suit; the sound of his boot heels clacking on the concrete
- At the table: a soft, lispy tongue
- 2. Name: Willowbrook Mall, a makeshift refugee camp
- Motivation: to remind the player characters of what used to be
- Sensory details: towering, plastic palm trees; children playing and crying; refugees dressed in fine clothes scavenged from the department stores
- At the table: loud, boisterous "Ho, ho, ho!" of the man wearing a Santa suit trying to cheer up the children.
- Alice wants to generate 7-3-1 profiles for a game she is going to run. This game will take place in the following setting: aliens and cowboys. She will need at least 7 profiles for her game. Each profile will need their own unique Motivations, Sensory Details, and "At the table" traits.
- She begins:
- 1. Name: Daniel Wood, a spacefaring outlaw
- Motivation: to survive the dangers of space
- Sensory details: dirty overalls; an old, grease-stained rag worn around the head to keep hair out of the eyes; a constant smell of diesel and ozone
- At the table: he shifts in his seat a lot
- 2. Name: David Brandt, a security chief
- Motivation: to be respected and feared by his men
- Sensory details: polished combat armor; silver stars on his shoulders; a series of long, jagged scars running across his face
- At the table: he sits up very straight
- 3. Name: Elton Edwards, a trigger-happy outlaw
- Motivation: to survive the dangers of space
- Sensory details: oil-stained cowboy boots; powder blue Stetson hat; an old, oil-stained, leather duster; the ever-present smell of diesel
- At the table: he sits up very straight
- 4. Name: Frank Edwards, a sadistic slaver

- At the table: he sits up very straight
- 5. Name: Sheriff Hank Thompson, a ruthless lawman

- At the table: he sits up very straight
- 6. Name: Jesse James, an infamous outlaw
- Motivation: to survive the dangers of space

- Nathan then chooses to create the following setting:
- In the Old West, outlaws have begun to ally with one another in an attempt to thwart the lawmen that pursue them. While the lawmen are known to be ruthless in their pursuit of justice (or revenge, in some cases), the Outlaws are equally ruthless, having no qualms about killing lawmen or innocent civilians.
- You are one of these lawmen. Using the 7 Outlaw profiles created by Alice, you will bring them to justice.
- As a lawman, you have the additional advantage of a posse. You are free to interpret this posse as you will. They could be other lawmen that you have gathered to help bring down the Outlaws. They could be a small group of townspeople that have learned how to handle a gun. Perhaps they are a small detachment from the army. The choice is yours.
- In your travels, you will come across various people. You will have to determine if they are an Outlaw or an innocent civilian. You may also come across a person's remains, and must determine what happened.
- Finally, you may come across a person who has been injured. Your actions toward this person will determine how they act toward you once they are healed.
- You may exit the character menu at any time by tapping the button in the bottom-right corner.
- Continue?
- In your posse are 6 men, all riding horses.
