  1. [22:31] D.J Taylor (smith.pawpad): Here with Vittorio A. Scaletta Date is 03/31/2019 10:31 PM
  2. [22:28] D.J Taylor (smith.pawpad): Mr. / Mrs. Vittorio A. Scaletta we're here tonight for your interview for the Position of Patrol Officer with the Cedar Creek Police Department, This interview will be recorded for review by the hiring board should the recommendation to hire be made. Do you agree to have this conversation recorded for that purpose?"
  3. [22:29] Vittorio A. Scaletta (spike.silversmith): Yes.
  4. [22:30] D.J Taylor (smith.pawpad): "Nods Starting the Recorder Then looking over the Application" Why do you want to work in Law Enforcement?
  5. [22:34] Vittorio A. Scaletta (spike.silversmith) adjusts himself in the chair "I've always loved to help people, I served in the military for a few years until being honorably discharged due to being wounded in combat, so I wish to continue to help people as a Police Officer."
  6. [22:39] D.J Taylor (smith.pawpad): "Looks up from his notes" oh cool same here. I spent 4 years in Iraq when my unit came upon a IED two of are team was killed. My self and another was shipped back state side. "looking back down at the application. I mean not that you was hurt that you was in the service also. Tell me about yourself?
  7. [22:44] Vittorio A. Scaletta (spike.silversmith) smirks softly and nods "Yeah, I had an IED encounter with my unit myself.." softly strokes the scar of his cheek "Took a piece of shrapnel right to the face.. If it were to be a few inches hight and toward the center.. Would not be seeing to well, thats for sure.. Thankfully no one from my unit was KIA, which is a relief, I'm sorry to hear about your unit. I was born in Italy, moved to the US at a young age. Grew up to respect everyone, and help those in need. I idolized Police and Military, thus why I enlisted into the Army, and wanted to help people ever since."
  8. [22:45] D.J Taylor (smith.pawpad): "nods" I see that you have Previous Police experience. What do you think of your previous chief?
  9. [22:48] Vittorio A. Scaletta (spike.silversmith): No experience under official ruling, I did some minor details with the MP while over seas. And police exploring program when I was younger.
  10. [22:50] D.J Taylor (smith.pawpad): "nods" Writing down some notes" Have you ever used medications or drugs that were not prescribed to you by a doctor or used them in a manner in which they were not prescribed, including use of any recreational drugs?
  11. [22:51] Vittorio A. Scaletta (spike.silversmith) shakes his head "No sir."
  12. [22:52] D.J Taylor (smith.pawpad): "nods" Cool "thinking a bit" How Would your friends describe you?
  13. [22:54] Vittorio A. Scaletta (spike.silversmith) scratches his head "A stubborn, duty first type a guy I guess? Not to sure what they think of me to be honest. They stick around so I must be in some what pleasing.."
  14. [22:56] D.J Taylor (smith.pawpad): "smirks" I can relate" On your Application you put down Badge when asked. What is the most powerful item in an Officer's arsenal Why Do you think that?
  15. [23:00] Vittorio A. Scaletta (spike.silversmith): I figured that, sure you have a gun, but so do others, does that make them powerful? No. A badge is your shield, it symbolizes that you are there to help, protect those in need, waving a gun around will just scare innocents. That badge can even save your life, I've heard of too many cases where the said badge stopped a bullet.
  16. [23:02] D.J Taylor (smith.pawpad): "nods" Can't argue with that. But let me ask you. Don't you Think that an Officer's Voice would be his or her most Powerful Item?
  17. [23:05] Vittorio A. Scaletta (spike.silversmith) nods "Fair point, he or she does need to be heard, rather it be consoling innocents, or swaying criminals to do the right thing. Matched with their badge, a sword and shield as it may be.
  18. [23:07] D.J Taylor (smith.pawpad): "Nods Writing more notes and Shifting around in his seat a bit" Tell me about something in your life that you would consider to be your greatest failure or regret, what you did about it, and how you learned from it.
  19. [23:10] Vittorio A. Scaletta (spike.silversmith) scratches his head "Honestly I regret hitting that IED, I wish I was never discharged from the Military, but I learned no matter how much you prepare for something, it will never go the way you prepared for it, that you must adapt and over come.
  20. [23:11] D.J Taylor (smith.pawpad): "nods in Agreement Then looking down then back up" Lets Say Your out on patrol and you decide to stop at the local market, while inside you see a family member put an item they have not paid for into their pocket, what do you do?
  21. [23:16] Vittorio A. Scaletta (spike.silversmith): I'd approach them, and simply ask them how they are doing at first, giving them a chance to reconsider their action, but keep an eye on them, as technically it is not shop lifting until the leave the store. If they do not reconsider, I'd approach once again telling them to place their hands behind their head and cuff them, escorting them to the front counter and explain to the clerk what happen, and if they would like to press charges.
  22. [23:17] D.J Taylor (smith.pawpad): "nods" How would you react if you knew a fellow officer was committing a crime?
  23. [23:19] Vittorio A. Scaletta (spike.silversmith): If I may, am I seeing them commit it right then and there, or do I just know about it in general?
  24. [23:20] D.J Taylor (smith.pawpad): Lets say Both you Heard about it around the station. Then Witness it for your self.
  25. [23:22] Vittorio A. Scaletta (spike.silversmith): I would use my body cam and record the officer's actions, then report it to my superior along with the evidence of the crime, just because you have a badge doesn't make you immune to the law.
  26. [23:23] D.J Taylor (smith.pawpad): "nods" Were almost Done. But Tell me why we should hire you?
  27. [23:26] Vittorio A. Scaletta (spike.silversmith): As I said previously, I want to help those in need, Innocent or "Criminals" sure they may be doing the wrong thing, but in the end they are just trying to get by like you and I, no? I have a chance to help them start doing the right thing to get by. If that may be the case that is. Everyone deserve atleast a second chance to change who they are, and I wish to help them with that second chance.
  28. [23:30] D.J Taylor (smith.pawpad): "nods" Looking over your Application it looks Good. Here at CCPD we have what is basically a Hiring board that will look over everything and make a recommendation to the chief. If all agree then the Chief will be sending a letter (NC) to you. Do you have any questions For me?
  29. [23:31] Vittorio A. Scaletta (spike.silversmith): Not that I can think of right now, if I do later on I can just call here at the PD and ask for you?
  30. [23:33] D.J Taylor (smith.pawpad): Yes Of course. anytime. If I'm not here it will go to my Cell Phone. Well Mr. Scaletta I would like to thank you for applying and Wish you the best of luck.
