Then after the said Merlin had completed this marvelous work, he had not so soon placed the powder to make this woman, when suddenly he saw the man was already about the size of a whale and and had equipment to properly match such man. Seeing this, Merlin cast his spell on him and made him sleep until the ninth day, when the woman was to be made. Then the said philosopher Merlin, seeing the sleeping giant, proposed to make a beast to support him, and to do this looked here and there until he saw the bones of a mare there, then placed them on the anvil and made from it such a large and powerful mare, by means of the said powder, that she could carry them both as easily as a ten-crown horse does a simple man in the sun. And after this fact, the said Merlin sent her to graze down the mountain.
