Second Darkness Postgame: Session 118

[17:01] <Kilarra> After a harrowing confrontation with Kilarra's mother, she and Aluthyra returned to the Silken Veil to recover. Imoto was conflicted over how she would go on living without her family, but Kilarra has been supportive.
[17:02] <Kilarra> The main thing in Kilarra's mind however, is to bring her half-sister back to life, so that she can have a chance to lead a normal life. However, bringing an undead creature back to life comes with the unfortunate complication of having to kill them first.
[17:04] * Kilarra wakes up early the morning after the confrontation with Mordren. She had some preparations to get to for Imoto's sake, even if they weren't exactly pretty. She needed to buy some more diamond dust off of Shorafa as well so that she could full restore herself.
[17:05] * Aluthyra wakes early with Kilarra, giving her an encouraging smile. Whatever help Kilarra needs, Aluthyra will give.
[17:07] <Kilarra> Imoto doesn't actually sleep, but she's presently curled up in her casket, reading quietly. She sits up when Kilarra and Aluthyra wake, giving them a small smile.
[17:09] * Kilarra looks to Aluthyra, "I need to get my spells prepared, mind watching her for an hour?" She also slips Aluthyra a slip of paper. Said paper describes to her what will need to happen for Imoto to be resurrected: Staked through the heart, decapitated, and the head annointed with holy water. The head would then be sufficient remains for the resurrection.
[17:09] * Kilarra looks uneasy as she gives Aluthyra the paper, but a bit resigned as well, knowing it would need to be done.
[17:11] * Aluthyra winces and nods, then sits up, smiling to Imoto. "I can watch her," She tells Kilarra. "go ahead and ready yourself."
[17:11] * Kilarra nods and slips out to borrow someone else's room for her preparations
[17:13] <Kilarra> Imoto looks at Aluthyra. "How come Kilarra has to get her spells ready in the morning? Can't she just do her magic like me and mommy could?"
[17:14] * Aluthyra shakes her head. "Her mother was true in that. Kilarra's magic comes from her deity, and each morning she must ask for the magic once more."
[17:15] <Kilarra> Imoto tilts her head, "That seems kinda unfair."
[17:19] * Aluthyra shrugs. "Power comes from different sources, and one hour in preparation is not a huge burden."
[17:19] <Kilarra> Imoto looks to Aluthyra's bow, "You don't have any magic though. But you have pretty wings. You said you were part angel, right?"
[17:22] * Aluthyra nods. "I have some Aasimar blood that has granted me these things."
[17:22] <Kilarra> Imoto nods, "Mommy and I have fiend blood, which is where our magic comes from. How come Kilarra changed herself to be like you?"
[17:25] * Aluthyra sighs. "It is unfortunate, but those with fiend's blood have a difficult life. Many do not understand, and bigotry and hatred are still rife. She did not want that to continue, and she wanted to spite her mother."
[17:27] <Kilarra> Imoto frowns a bit, "I didn't know that. I was always with mommy and daddy and I was told to be glad for it."
[17:28] * Aluthyra nods. "You will find that many will not like you because of your origins, but many will offer you more sympathies." She smiles slightly. "Perhaps you will have less friends, but they will be greater in their connection with you."
[17:29] <Kilarra> Imoto nods, "Are we friends?"
[17:30] * Aluthyra smiles. "I would not mind being your friend, as long as you would have me as yours."
[17:32] <Kilarra> Imoto smiles, "Okay! I... um... I've never actually had any living friends before. Mommy made me some skeleton playmates, but it didn't feel quite the same. Which is part of why I really wanted Nisha to be my family again."
[17:34] * Aluthyra nods. "Which, if you are planning on living with us, is a possibility. We will be moving Celwynvian, and do hope you come with us." She smiles. "It is an elven city, one that is truly beautiful, and I bet that you will find more open to friendships their then here."
[17:35] <Kilarra> Imoto blinks, "I've only seen elves in books before." She points to one of her picture books, "Are they really that pretty?"
[17:36] * Aluthyra nods and chuckles. "They are, and their city is even more grand."
[17:37] <Kilarra> Imoto smiles, "That would be nice. Um... I'll be able to go out during the day after Nisha brings me back to life, right?"
[17:38] * Aluthyra nods. "Yes, you will."
[17:39] <Kilarra> Imoto nods, "How long will it take? You guys are awake during the day and I'm not really used to sleeping. It's kinda boring."
[17:41] <Kilarra> (Ping Aluthyra)
[17:42] * Aluthyra shakes her head. "I am not sure. Kilarra would know more of how long her spells take." \
[17:45] * Kilarra finishes her preparations and then uses, from her existing pool of Diamond dust, a greater restoration so that she's back at full strength. She had a second one prepared for us on Imoto after the resurrection, but she needed some more diamonds. She pays a quick visit to Shorafa to purchase some.
[17:46] <Kilarra> Imoto nods, "Will it hurt? I remember it hurt when daddy bit me."
[17:47] * Aluthyra frowns. "I am not sure. Kilarra will likely try and make it painless, but I cannot know for sure given all of the spells she can cast."
[17:49] * Kilarra slips the new diamonds in with what she already had and returns to her room. She opens the door carefully to avoid letting sunlight in, then closes it. She looks to Imoto, "I have everything I need to bring you back to life," she states.
[17:49] <Kilarra> Imoto smiles, then asks her, "Will it hurt?"
[17:50] * Kilarra frowns a bit, "Normally, yes. I did however, ask for a spell to make it painless, so hopefully it won't be a problem."
[17:51] * Kilarra asks Imoto, "I thought you might want to do it here, so that you can have some privacy. Just Aluthyra and I here for you."
[17:51] <Kilarra> Imoto nods a bit warily, "O-okay."
[17:52] * Kilarra decides its best not to lie. "Unfortunately I have to... well, kill you... again, first." She presents a wooden stake. "If my spell works though, you won't feel a thing."
[17:53] <Kilarra> Imoto gulps and nods. "Are... you gonna do it now?"
[17:53] * Kilarra sighs, then nods, "The longer I wait, the worse it will be, so the sooner the better. Just... make yourself comfortable, okay?"
[17:54] * Kilarra takes Imoto's hand, gripping it tightly, "I really wish I didn't have to go through with this part, but it's for the best. Please trust me."
[17:55] <Kilarra> Imoto squeeze's Kilarra's hand back, looking decidedly nervous. "You're family. I'll trust you." She lets go and lays down in her snug little coffin, taking a deep breath. She holds out a hand to Aluthyra, wanting a friend's support for this.
[17:57] * Aluthyra smiles, walking to Imoto's side and squeezing her hand. "Once it is over, perhaps we shall set for a picnic on the border of the forest. That way, you may experience the daylight at its best." She chuckles. "Do you have a favorite food, Imoto?"
[17:58] <Kilarra> Imoto shakes her head, "I haven't eaten food in years. Does blood count? Except animal blood, and especially cow blood. Cow blood tastes really yucky."
[17:58] * Aluthyra chuckles. "We will be sure to get something you will like then. Something new."
[18:00] * Kilarra snickers a bit at Imoto's blood critiquing, then places a hand gently on her forehead, using a spell to numb any pain. She then reaches for the stake and her mace
[18:00] <Kilarra> Imoto giggles a bit, "That tickled."
[18:00] * Kilarra holds the stake out, "You might wanna close your eyes. It'll be worse if you look at it."
[18:01] <Kilarra> Imoto nods and leans her head back, closing her eyes and waiting.
[18:02] * Kilarra takes a deep breath and hammers the stake into Imoto's heart with one swing of her mace.
[18:03] <Kilarra> Imoto twinges at the bizarre sensation, but doesn't scream or look pained. Her eyes shoot open for a moment, but then slowly close as though she was drifting to sleep.
[18:04] * Kilarra drops her mace, hands shaking a bit, and reaches for a borrowed knife. She gulps and leans into Aluthyra, taking a moment to get lost in her scent and calm herself.
[18:05] * Aluthyra nods to Kilarra, giving her a small smile.
[18:07] * Kilarra shes a few shaky tears onto Aluthyra, then moves to do the grizzly work. She presses the dagger into Imoto's neck, cutting through it as cleanly as she could manage. There's a bit of dark red blood spilled in the process, but it was technically Kilarra's blood, as Imoto didn't actually have any of her own in her state.
[18:09] * Kilarra finishes cutting off Imoto's head, looking like she was going to be sick, and reaches for a vial of holy water, which she uses to annoint Imoto's forehead. She brushes some hair out of her face, then reaches for her diamonds
[18:12] * Kilarra looks to Aluthyra, a bit green in the face. Her hands are shaking as she holds her sister's head. "C-could you hold her?" I need both my hands for the next part
[18:13] * Aluthyra grimaces and nods, taking the head from Kilarra and holding it carefully.
[18:16] * Kilarra sprinkles diamond dust over her half-sisters head and chants for a solid ten minutes. As she does, the dust dissolves into Imoto's head, and from the stump of her neck, a new body begins growing. Bones, muscles, organs, flesh, all of it seeming to grow magically from the head. When the process is complete, Imoto's body is fully reformed, identical in size to the one still laying in the coffin. It's a rather macabre sight.
[18:18] * Kilarra pants as she finishes, then closes the lid on Imoto's coffin. "She doesn't need to see that." She leaves the newly revived and quite unclad tiefling child in Imoto's arms while she rummages through her dresser for something to dress her in.
[18:18] <Kilarra> Imoto groans a bit, stirring awake in Aluthyra's arms. She looks up at her friend. "D-did it work?"
[18:19] * Aluthyra smiles and nods. "It did. How do you feel?"
[18:20] <Kilarra> Imoto blinks, then looks down at herself. "Chilly. And tired. Why am I naked?"
[18:21] <Aluthyra> "It is a new body." Aluthyra answers. "Your old body is... no longer in use."
[18:22] <Kilarra> Imoto blinks, "Oh... that's wierd." She looks to Kilarra, "Why did I need a new body?"
[18:23] * Kilarra answers simply, "Because your old one had been dead so long it couldn't sustain your life. So the spell made a new one for your instead."
[18:23] <Kilarra> Imoto nods, seeming to accept that, then places a hand on her chest, "Hey..." she smiles weakly, "I have a heartbeat. I'd forgotten what it feels like."
[18:25] * Kilarra brings over a simple tunic for Imoto, "I know it's not much, but your old dress has a hole and blood on it. Do you want to get it mended, or should we get your something new?"
[18:26] <Kilarra> Imoto nods and stands up, a bit wobbly. She puts the tunic on, but fidgets a bit as she does so. "It's itchy."
[18:27] * Aluthyra chuckles. "Well, if you would like, we can go shopping. Then a picnic, to celebrate your new life?"
[18:28] * Kilarra chuckles, "I know. We'll get you something better to wear soon, but I want to make sure you're completely recovered first." She pulls out most of the rest of her diamonds. "Hold still." She holds the diamond out and, for the course of eighteen seconds, magically dissolves it into Imoto.
[18:28] <Kilarra> Imoto smiles, "Hey, I don't feel so tired anymore."
[18:29] * Kilarra nods, then begins to check over Imoto's new body to make sure everything was working. She tests her reflexes, her sight, her hearing,, and her reaction to touch.
[18:30] <Kilarra> Imoto performs well enough for a child of her size on all of these things, although her vitality seems to be a bit below average.
[18:31] * Kilarra seems content with the results. "Alright, looks like you're all good to go. We should get breakfast though; I'm sure you're curious about tasting things again."
[18:32] <Kilarra> Imoto nods and stands up, scratching a bit at the itchy tunic as she goes.
[18:32] * Kilarra leads Imoto and Aluthyra to breakfast. This time, since Shorafa knew Imoto was no longer a vampire now, they were allowed to sit together with all the others.
[18:34] <Kilarra> Imoto helps herself to a little of everything, tasting everything but hardly finishing anything as she moves to try something else
[18:38] * Kilarra can't help but giggle at Imoto's enthusiasm. This was how a child should be allowed to act. Not forced to comply with their parents wishes and be their vision of perfect.
[18:40] * Aluthyra smiles, happy to see Imoto adjusting to everything.
[18:41] <Kilarra> Imoto seems to have abandoned any notion of table manners however
[18:42] * Kilarra finishes up her own breakfast and waits for Aluthyra and Imoto to finish. After that, they could get her some better clothes, and a few other things they might need in preparation for their move to Iadara.
[18:43] * Aluthyra sits up and smiles once she finishes, offering her hand to Imoto.
[18:43] <Kilarra> Imoto takes it gladly.
[18:43] * Kilarra takes her other hand, walking out into the city with her new family. Everything looked like it was going to be alright now.
[18:45] <Kilarra> ~~~Epilogue~~~
[18:47] <Kilarra> Kilarra and Aluthyra were as good as their word, treating Imoto to a number of delights that being alive and awake during the day had to offer. Although Imoto had a lot of adjusting to go through, and her ordeals left her with some unfortunate mental scars.
[18:48] <Kilarra> Kilarra and Aluthyra were there with her through it all though, and in the end, she decided to stay with them. When they finally made the move to Iadara, Imoto was ecstatic. The Elven capital city of light and greenery was quite unlike anything she had ever experienced, and she was smitten with it immediately
[18:49] <Kilarra> Kilarra and Aluthyra had plenty of time to spend with her as well, since their cushy jobs working for Queen Telandia left most of their time free to spend with Imoto and with each other.
[18:51] <Kilarra> In the end, their lives were peaceful, that peace very much deserved after everything they had done to earn it.
