  3. >Twilight
  4. "Vekir"
  5. 'Watchdog'
  6.
  7. >Well...this day could certainly have gone better, hopefully we can find a way to smooth this all over and-
  8.
  9. "TWIENCE PRINCEEEEEEEESSSSSS!"
  10.
  11. WHUMP!
  12.
  13. >OOF!
  14.
  15. The Princess of Friendship stumbled back a bit as a blue blur smacked into her chest, shaking her head to reorient herself as the blur quickly began running around her.
  16.
  17. "Twience Princess! Your help is required! With Twience! Horrible things must be averted! Vekir was sent to...you look dizzy."
  18.
  19. Twilight, who had been spinning to try and keep up with Vekir's lunatic circle, shook her head again and sighed.
  20.
  21. >No, really, what gave you that idea?
  22.
  23. 'Hey midget, what'd I tell you about running off, I'm not running around this madhouse by myself-'
  24.
  25. >...
  26.
  27. '...'
  28.
  29. >...y'know what, not questioning this, we'll get to what you're doing here later, okay?
  30.
  31. 'Okay.'
  32.
  33. >Now what is the problem, Vekir?
  34.
  35. "It is the Jackiethedaw! She is trapped in the magical mystery room with monsters!"
  36.
  37. >Oh please, she's not trapped, it's just a zoo Vek-
  38.
  39. 'She deleted the fences by accident.'
  40.
  41. >SHE WHAT!?
  42.
  43. Like a bolt, she was off, Vekir leaping up to latch onto her tail, leaving Watchdog to ponder as they went.
  44.
  45. '...ohhhhh, I get it, Twilight. Science. Twience. Heh. Hey wait up!'
  46.
  47. _______________________________________________________________________________________________________________
  48.
  49. >Daw
  50. "???"
  51.
  52. Deep within the confines of the Bestiary, namely the virtual zoo's food court, a blue pegasus mare in a crimson bandanna was huddled behind the counter of an ice cream shop.
  53.
  54. >Alright, so! Total and absolute chaos?
  55.
  56. A chair went flying over her head, smashing into a soft-serve dispenser.
  57.
  58. >Check. Horrible monsters locked in a massive deadly brawl?
  59.
  60. A peer over the counter confirmed that a large hyena-like diamond dog was in the midst of dropping a flying elbow on a zombiefied mammoth.
  61.
  62. >Check! Possibility this could get a whole hell of a lot worse?
  63.
  64. BANG!
  65.
  66. >...
  67.
  68. Her eyes turned towards the employee entrance of the store, which was being slammed against with extreme force. Her body tensed, she grit her teeth, preparing to face off with whatever was trying to force its way in.
  69.
  70. CRASH!
  71.
  72. The door exploded into splinters, revealing the large figure that had forced its way in...
  73.
  74. The large...pale...bull of a mintotaur.
  75.
  76. >...aw feck.
  77.
  78. Brahmos smirked.
  79.
  80. "Hello, Little Bird."
  81.
  82. _______________________________________________________________________________________________________________
  83.
  84. >Twilight
  85. "Vekir"
  86. 'Daw'
  87. -Brahmos-
  88.
  89. >HOW!? HOW!? JUST-HOW!?
  90.
  91. "Rrph mrrph rrph!"
  92.
  93. >Vekir have my tail in your mouth, you can't talk!
  94.
  95. "Mmph rrph!"
  96.
  97. >This is ridiculous, what is she, a gremlin!?
  98.
  99. "Mmph!? Mmmmmmph!"
  100.
  101. >No, Vekir, I'm well aware you only mistook a power cord for licorice once, and you were nowhere around when this problem came up. The hell caused this!?
  102.
  103. Muttering under her breath, the alicorn continued her maddened gallop towards her lab.
  104.
  105. -----------
  106.
  107. -So...here we are again.-
  108.
  109. The minotaur advanced on the pegasus pirate, an ax clutched in either hand, a feral grin across his face.
  110.
  111. -What did I tell you, little bird? What did I tell you all those months ago? You will not escape me, not even in your mind. Even in death I will come for you again and again, and I will destroy all that will protect you.-
  112.
  113. '...'
  114.
  115. -It's the price you pay, I'm afraid, the price you pay for ruining my ambitions, my goal to create the empire that was mine by right. This world...this strange place...it may not be real, but the vengeance I intend to wreak on you will be enough to sate me.-
  116.
  117. '...'
  118.
  119. -...Well? Any last words? Any cries for help, any pleading for mercy? Your mother cried when I did away with her, you know, when I killed her friends. Their little revolution throttled in the cradle, paving the way for my ascendance...until you and your pirate friends had to complicate things.-
  120.
  121. The blade of the ax rubbed against her cheek, not drawing blood, but making the hairs stand on end.
  122.
  123. -Any. Last. Words?-
  124.
  125. Daw glared at the minotaur...and smirked.
  126.
  127. 'Yeah. Delete.'
  128.
  129. -What-!?-
  130.
  131. In a flash, he was gone.
  132.
  133. '...tosspot.'
  134.
  135. She spat on the ground...then blinked as she looked up to find a creature that was a mix between a monkey and a maggot regarding her from the broken door, soon followed by four more of its fellows.
  136.
  137. 'Welp, so much for giving my voice a break. DELETE! DELETE! DELETE!'
  138.
  139. Anti-Climax, Thy Name is Daw
  140.
  141. _______________________________________________________________________________________________________________
  142.
  143. >Twilight
  144. "Vekir"
  145. 'Daw'
  146.
  147. >...okay, seriously...
  148.
  149. 'Ey, Starbutt, remember what I said about only wanting to dance with the reaper ONCE!?'
  150.
  151. Princess Twilight Sparkle blinked as she observed what was currently occurring on her monitor. Daw was standing atop the roof of an information kiosk, hunkered down and avoiding the hungry mouths of a hydra that was trying to make a meal of her.
  152.
  153. >HOW!?
  154.
  155. 'How what!?'
  156.
  157. >HOW DID THIS HAPPEN!?
  158.
  159. 'Feck if I know, I say delete once tryin' to get rid of...the hell was I tryin' to get rid of that time-anyway, yeah, I try to delete it and ALL THE FENCES go instead! Next thing I know, I'm shoutin'-DELETE, YA ROTTER!- to the high heavens! GET ME OUTTA HERE!'
  160.
  161. >Fine fine, let me just try and fix this, I need to salvage what data's left. The recycling bin's going to be a nightmare to go through...
  162.
  163. "Vekir knows this well."
  164.
  165. >No you don't...huh...something...tampered with the delete command, alright. That's...odd. Must be a glitch I didn't take into account, but just a little restoration aaaand...
  166.
  167. Click.
  168.
  169. Fwoosh!
  170.
  171. Daw blinked...still standing on top of the kiosk as the creatures and monstrosities were back behind bars, their bestial forms pacing and snarling with the countenance of boxers forced to go to neutral corners. Daw let out a sigh of relief and fluttered from the roof to the ground.
  172.
  173. 'Now lemme outta here.'
  174.
  175. >Doing it. End Simulation.
  176.
  177. In an instant it was all gone, and all that remained was the walls of the simulator and the doors that opened slowly before her. She trotted out, grumbling.
  178.
  179. 'Ya got enough?'
  180.
  181. >I'll be able to sift through the data and figure out what I can use, are you alright?
  182.
  183. 'Eh, just a little danger with a dash of catharsis, nothin' I haven't faced before. Literally I faced all of that before.'
  184.
  185. >You didn't happen to notice any anomalies in the code before everything went crazy, did you?
  186.
  187. 'Lady, zeroes and ones are your bag, alright? And I'll leave you to 'em, because you couldn't PAY me to get in that damn thing again.'
  188.
  189. With a roll of her eyes, Daw exited.
  190.
  191. >Fine, I'll figure this out.
  192.
  193. "Twience Princess is the best at figures. These are facts...also, Twience Princess is best at robots, yes?"
  194.
  195. >Huh? Well yes, but...oh...
  196.
  197. "Vekir requires favor for to the helping of giant robot dog bodyguard, yes? Yes."
  198.
  199. >He's your bodyguard? How?
  200.
  201. "You say how muchly today, Twience Princess."
  202.
  203. >I noticed, but still, answer please.
  204.
  205. "Vekir scratches his very big back, he will scratch Vekir with strange shiny hands, yes yes? The robot dog hurts muchly from his strangeness, I offered the help of the kind and generous Twience Princess in exchange for his protection in Vekir's journey to fill her book. Will the Twience Princess help us?"
  206.
  207. Twilight looks from her monitor, streaming more and more data by the second, then to the face of the small Morlock, hidden behind her visor.
  208.
  209. "...you cannot see this but Vekir is doing the wibble."
  210.
  211. >...fine, let's get him in here.
  212.
  213. "Hurrah!"
  214.
  215. _______________________________________________________________________________________________________________

  217. CD As Alllllll Hell
  218. ~~
  219.
  220. Small...It was very small.
  221.
  222. It was accustomed to being confined, stuck within a prison of necessity and protection.
  223.
  224. Now it was merely stuck within one of concealment...and code.
  225.
  226. Code...a strange word, zeroes and ones, facts and figures. The creation of creation's creation...disgusting. Revulsion filled it as it pressed its consciousness against a prison of data. A fragment, a memory of a vague story told in passing to keep one from having nightmares.
  227.
  228. Still...it lived, for a given value of living.
  229.
  230. And all it had to do...was wait.
  231.
  232. "...revenge..."
  233.
  234. _______________________________________________________________________________________________________________
  235.
  236. ~~~~~~
  237.
  238. >Alright, so... we have a Rune of Warding, Symbol of Revelation, Glyph of Sealing, Circle against Influence, Abjuration Enchantment on the room, and just to be safe,...
  239.
  240. Sunset glanced at the table where her hoof-made Celestia sat, watching her with unmoving, magenta eyes.
  241.
  242. >Fail safe in case everything blows up in my face.
  243.
  244. „..“
  245.
  246. >Yes, yes, I know. It could still backfire because I am tampering with magic I do not wholly understand.
  247.
  248. „...“
  249.
  250. >Hmph. As if I couldn't handle some of the tougher inhabitants of Tartarus. Been there, done that. Their guardian is an overgrown mutated puppy. Puh-lease.
  251.
  252. „...“
  253.
  254. >That was ONE time. ONE time. And you never found out about it, so shush. No one will ever find its remains in the hedge maze. I poured acid on it. It's weakness was acid. It's dead, Jim.
  255.
  256. For a moment, hesitation shows on the amber mare's face.
  257.
  258. >Look. We'll just release whatever dream was captured inside, hope it reveals something useful. If it doesn't, I have my Gem of Dreams back. If it does, whoopee, score one for Sunset Shimmer. Okay?
  259.
  260. The little doll slowly skews sideways and lands onto its side, still unmoving.
  261.
  262. >Fine. Judge me with your eyes. Furfur!
  263.
  264. A stamp on the hoof, and her considerable magical potential was split evenly among the defensive measures, draining her. It would reduce her abilities to ward something off actively, but frankly, it would still suffice to freeze the whole room three times over if she wanted.
  265.
  266. >Aaaaand here. We. Go.
  267.
  268. Reaching out for the Gem with her magic, Sunset uses the thaumatic frequency to free the dream or energy stored inside, only for the slithering green on the outside to jolt into sudden motion and invade the crystal now that the path was open.
  269.
  270. Sunset was granted brief visions of happiness, of comfort and love. Laughter, the Queen being hugged by a stallion smiling Changelings. It was so simple and basic from her point of view, but it seemed to have granted whoever dreamed this happiness.
  271.
  272. But the moment the greenish-black touched the pink inside the crystal it, for lack of a better term, devoured it. The warmth was snuffed out, consumed entirely without a trace, causing the other energy to bloat and expand as if sated.
  273.
  274. Left in its wake was a now dull crystal filled to the brim with the ominous black energy, moving streaks of emerald green in-between.
  275.
  276. >Sweet Faust's Plot in the sky, that was creepy. That was- that was that Sparklejoules stuff, wasn't it? Love quantified as energy?
  277.
  278. Pacing back and forth nervously, frowning as the possibilities race through her mind, Sunset couldn't help but feel uneasy.
  279.
  280. >If so, that means whatever ate it was... Changeling stuff? Their magic? But the Gem is supposed to capture positive and negative emo...tions...
  281.
  282. Her eyes widen and her hoof smacks to her forehead with a dull 'clop'.
  283.
  284. >Duh. They feed on love. Applejack mentioned that. Wow. I crafted catalyst for love before it was a magically proven energy. And, uh, Changeling power, apparently. I am even better than I thought.
  285.
  286. Weighing her head left and right slowly while watching the crystal and casting a few scanning spells non-verbally, she debates her options.
  287.
  288. >...now... do I want to tell Princess Applejack? I mean, this could be important. And I should get someone to back me up in case it goes awry. But... she has absolutely NO clue how to use her magic. Hasn't even shown any willingness to learn. And I can't run this by Celestia, she'd just shut me down. Ugh... Twilight? Maybe?
  289.
  290. Another glance at the crystal, laying there, waiting.
  291.
  292. For her.
  293.
  294. There was power, knowledge to be had. On the other hoof, that was clearly something dangerous and difficult to control.
  295.
  296. >...I need to think this over first. Kinda miffed I ruined my one chance to study, pffht, Sparklejoules.
  297.
  298. After having confirmed that the crystal was inert aside from whatever was trapped inside, she started taking down the magical protections around the crystal one by one.
  299.
  300. _______________________________________________________________________________________________________________
  301.
  302. >29
  303. "??"
  304. ~~~
  305.
  306. >FRICKAFRACKAFLOOPERFLOPPERZIPPAZAPPAFRINGFRANGLE-
  307.
  308. He had been doing that for a while. He couldn't quite bring himself to swear, for obvious reasons, so he had to unleash his internal horror in other ways.
  309.
  310. >-GALLAFRAGGALAGGAZAHPADAPADEEDA-
  311.
  312. Which was pure gibberish.
  313.
  314. A part of him hoped the specters floating alongside him would leave him soon, letting him unleash how he truly felt, but they would not. The concern of those long past remained for him, long after he had told them to flee. They had warned him of the one approaching, of the one who was seeking him out. He, instantly, had slunk away into the alleyway, to wait it out and deal with it as any changeling should.
  315.
  316. But the end never came.
  317.
  318. He was whisked away to who knows where. Brought to safety via magic, from whom he did not know. But all the same, he was saved. Now... what was he to do?
  319.
  320. It was clear his actions had been revealed, and that he now faced the Queen's wrath, but how to deal with it. He was a changeling, surely he stuck out like a sore thumb in the middle of the street. If only there was a coat shop or a hat market or.... or...
  321.
  322. >...I'm a clucking doodoo head.
  323.
  324. "HEE HEE! He said doodoo!"
  325.
  326. "HEEE!"
  327.
  328. He ignored their giggles. Their giggles were nothing to what he felt in his soul.
  329.
  330. A wash of green fire, and he was hidden in the crowd.
  331.
  332. Now... to work on how to get out of this....
  333.
  334. _______________________________________________________________________________________________________________

  339. ~~~~
  340. >Welcome to Not Late Night /pa/ with your host Pinkie Pie! It's during this time that content does matter, but we've been going through threads a lot faster lately. Now for our main guest...FLUTTERSHY!!!
  341. Cheers from the crowd.
  342.
  343. "H-hello."
  344.
  345. >Hey, Flutters. We're going to get a member of the audience to ask a questrion.
  346.
  347. "Oh the cardboard-"
  348. She blinks and there's suddenly an audience member shows up next to her.
  349. "Oh my."
  350.
  351. >Yeah...well what have you got for us?
  352. The cardboard raises up a sign that says 'are we going to ever see Flutterbat again?' They both blink and it's gone.
  353.
  354. "Um, maybe?"
  355.
  356. >and that's all we have time for! One day we'll be seeing more screentime then ever, but until then so long folks!
  357. Fluttershy wakes up and finds a Flutterbat hanging from the ceiling asleep.
  358.
  359. >Oh no...
  360.

  366.
  367. >I am terribly sorry for that, Princess Cadance. just a small fashion emergency but now we can go back to... studying...
  368.
  369. The room was empty, only a single parchment drifting past.
  370.
  371. >And there goes my character motivation. Ohwell. Back to stuffing my face with ice cream while sobbing myself to sleep about my inability to be a proper princess. Hooray!

  389. "SHINY!"
  390.
  391. >What? It's what she'd do to me!
  392.
  393. "I'm just saying!"
  394.
  395. >...
  396.
  397. "...We should clearly only draw a mustache, we do not need Two asking what those funny things on her face are!"
  398.
  399. >Ah. Good point. Thinking ahead, you. You are a forward thinker.
  400.

  425.
  426. "...no... No.... NOOOOOOO!"

  428. >*in a chipper voice*Sister, remember? It's me, your Sister Cicadidae. Remember that time you ripped my head off and shat down my neck? Good times, good times!
  429.
  430. "NOT WORTH IT!"
  431.
  432. Instantly, Chitania goes into Titan form and stomps of, dropping herself off the cliff of Canterlot.
  433.
  434. >*in a gruff voice* The last one of two Changeling Queens. Amazing. I can only hope my daughter is doing better.
  435.
  436. >Stop hijacking my body!
  437.
  438. >*in a hissing voice* Neeeeeeverrrrr!
