1. Title: Call of the Divine
2.
3. Characters: Kalas and a mysterious armored figure
4.
5. Summary: A dire situation awakens the spirit of the former wielder of Kalas' borrowed Keyblade. A planned scenerio in the future, put here so it's not forgotten.
6.
7.
8. He could barely move...he could barely even breathe. He was left horribly wounded, his weapons out of reach, his Magnus deck spread all over. He tried to push himself back, drag his battered and broken body to reach his sword...alas, that too much for him to do.
9.
10. He could hear the voices. Not just hers, but all of his friends, calling to him, begging him to get back up, to keep fighting for their sake. No matter how much he tried, to assure them that he would go on...he just couldn't.
11.
12. "Please..." he begged quietly to seemingly no one, on the verge of tears. "I can't...I can't die now...not when everyone's counting on me. I just...I have to...!"
13.
14. He finally gripped something. The Oblivion Keyblade he had kept around, that he had promised to give purpose when he could feel its consciousness. The minute it met his clutch, everything went white...
15.
16. ~*~*~
17.
18. Kalas had opened his eyes to find that he was not where he was just a few seconds ago. For some reason, he was back in the vast desert that was the Keyblade Graveyard, where he had fought the Phantom alongside Sin and Sora, where he had taken the Keyblade before. His wounds were gone as well, leaving him even more confused. What was going on...?
19.
20. "How long has it been...?"
21.
22. A voice...echoing, but still somewhat clear. Kalas looked over to find a figure, translucent but still clearly seen. They were armored, black with silver linings, and a slightly horned helm that concealed their face. By the features, plus the sound of their voice, the figure was clearly a woman.
23.
24. What was odd, though...despite her spiritual appearance, she still managed to hold the Oblivion Keyblade in her hand.
25.
26. "You've been holding on all this time. To think, even after we all have fallen, you are still wanting to connect with the heart of another."
27.
28. ...wait...was this...the former Keyblade Master...?
29.
30. She had turned to him, almost making him flinch. He tried to read her expression through the helmet; alas, it was useless. "You are the one who has wielded my old Keyblade; I can see that. You have awakened my spirit after so long, even if temporary."
31.
32. So...she was here because of his use of the Keyblade? Was that what she was trying to say?
33.
34. "I can sense a mysterious aura about you. Nothing like I have ever felt. A strong darkness...but also a strong light..." Again with that. Even she could feel it? "However...I can also sense that your heart is also strong. You wish to protect those you hold dear to you with all of your life."
35.
36. To that, Kalas managed up a nod. It was true; he wanted to keep them all safe. His friends, his lover...he would do anything to protect them.
37.
38. "However, without a proper inheritance, my Keyblade could not fully connect with your heart." Her attention was back on the Key. "Perhaps this is why I've awakened once more. After my Keyblade had been holding out for so long, even after my fall... And back to him again. "Perhaps it is time for a new wielder, to truly give it purpose once more."
39.
40. Again, the one-winged hero was almost taken aback. Was she going to pass the Keyblade to him, make him a proper Keyblade wielder like Sora and Kairi?
41.
42. "If I give this to you," the armored spirit continued, "would you extend your protection to every other world? To keep them and their residents safe from the Heartless...would you hold up to that responsibility?"
43.
44. ...for a moment, Kalas had thought it over. This was pretty much a duty he had to carry out. For all his life, Kalas had taken free will over duty. Even when he saved his world, it wasn't just because he had to, but because he wanted to. He had no warrior's code; just the need to survive and to protect those he cared for. Again, only because he wanted to.
45.
46. That was enough to tell his decision. He wouldn't do this because he had to. He wouldn't keep the worlds safe because of a sense of duty. It was because with this chance...he just can. Because he wanted to keep other worlds safe from harm, wanted to protect innocents that inhabited the worlds. His close ones were a first priority...but he would extend it to the worlds. Not out of duty...but by his choice.
47.
48. So Kalas nodded, his eyes filled with determination. "I will. I'll keep the worlds safe, no matter what it takes. I'll make damn sure the Heartless won't get their hands on anymore hearts. Even if I can't stop them all...I won't ever fall back." His hand formed into a fist then, not out of anger, but to show that he wouldn't let down this request. "If you give me your Keyblade...I promise I'll carry out its wishes. I'll make sure it has purpose again."
49.
50. Silence...he could feel a smile from the ghostly figure even from beneath the helmet. It seemed that was enough to convince her. With that, the armored woman held the Keyblade by the shaft, holding the handle out to him. "Then, in your hand, take this Key. So long as you have the makings, then through this simple act of taking, its wielder you shall now be."
51.
52. ...so now all he had to do was take it. There was no hesitance; Kalas just grabbed the handle. The minute he gripped it, a small glow had come from the Keyblade. He could feel that it had accepted him as its new wielder...that it had fully connected with his heart...
53.
54. He knew this feeling all too well.
55.
56. Kalas reached his arms out above him, ready to bond with the spirit that had come to him. The power, the wisdom it would pass on...he needed it all, more than anything. His body pulsed, cherry blossoms circling towards him as the connection was forming. And then he fell to his knees, the bond made.
57.
58. After a few moments, Kalas stood back up, a bit wobbly, before he looked to the air above him. "Um...hello?" he greeted, unsure. He wasn't talking to thin air, right? "Can I...may I ask your name?"
59.
60. And then a hollow female voice answered, proving to him that this was real, "Crystal..."
61.
62. "Crystal...So that's your name." They were a team now...
63.
64. They were a team. But now his Guardian Spirit was gone, back in her own world. Now his heart was one with something new, with the Keyblade he had been carrying around since that day. Now, he was truly its wielder.
65.
66. Kalas looked up to find that the armored being had released her grip, proving to him that that was the truth. However, what he saw next surprised him once more. His Magnus deck, the one for his battle Magnus at least, was floating in the air before them. His attack cards, power-ups, healing items, and all the abilities he had regain...they were all there. They circled in the air above him, before they all flew to the Keyblade in Kalas' hand. One by one, the cards had merged into the weapon; as they did, a bright light surrounded it, growing brighter with each card it merged with. Finally, the last one, the one containing his signature sword...the light flashed out, bringing Kalas to cover his eyes with his free arm.
67.
68. When it dimmed down, Kalas lowered his arm. His eyes went wide with shock, his mouth hanging slightly. What he held was not the Oblivion Keyblade...it was now something completely different. The guard on the handle was different on each side; the left side was a dark gray metal, while the right bore a single gray wing design, like his own. The hilt was copper, much like the hilt of his old sword, and also like that were the three red orbs; one in between the hilt and the shaft, and the other two, one smaller and one larger, were on the gray metal of the guard. The shaft was silver and separated, like the Oblivion Keyblade it was before this. Instead of chains making up the center, however, a design of breaking ocean waves mixed in with a dark red energy-like substance ran down till it met the head. The teeth of the Key were four large metal feathers, tipped with light blue-tinged, almost transparent blades; they were like the metal feathers on his winglet. Lastly, its keychain; the charm connected to thin, dark gray chain was that of a Magnus card, blank, but still had great significance.
69.
70. As Kalas continued to stare at his new Keyblade in shock, a name had come to his mind. Call of the Divine... A fitting name, especially for his title. Even if he was not truly the Divine Child, he had still taken upon that role in his brother's memory. Now, he had the Keyblade to show for it.
71.
72. He had gotten over the shock shortly after, and thought to dismiss his new weapon. Sure enough, a white, blue-tinged light burst around it, accompanied with a flurry of feathers and electric crackling. As they were gone, so was the Keyblade, now in the back of his mind.
73.
74. "It is now time for us to go, child," said the armored figure, having remained silent until Kalas had adjusted to the Keyblade. Sure enough, she was beginning to fade away. "With my old blade in your hands, I can now allow myself to truly pass on. I trust that you will put it to good use from now on."
75.
76. "W-wait!" Kalas called, not ready to leave yet. There was just one thing he needed to know before they did. "Before you go...may I ask your name?"
77.
78. "Very well...my name is..."
79.
80. When she had said it, once again Kalas' eyes were wide with shock. No sooner after that, she was gone. And then, a bright light had filled the desert around him.
81.
82. There was a new Keyblader in the worlds now.
