Amane's scream was no longer dark, but a roar filled with determination. He thrusted with his left hand, and the tip of Azure ran the fastest path toward Ikki. Intetsu had been deflecting the unexpected attack with the right, so it was out of position to block. Amane's sword would pierce him─

"Second Secret Sword──Rekkou."

"─Ah."

Before Amane's thrust could touch Ikki's skin, Intetsu came between them and cut Amane down.

A diagonal flash from waist to shoulder, and Amane fell to his knees. The second secret sword, Rekkou, was a point-blank slash that used only the lower body's torque to strike after blocking a slash. Ikki had deflected Amane's first attack and countered the second in quick succession. The death shrouding Azure dispersed like fog. Ikki did not continue attacking, and neither did Amane try to stand. They both knew that Amane could not do anything more.
