- Tajarans are a feline species, tending to come in monochrome with long, shaggy manes a darker shade of their overall coat. They have dangerous claws, and their physiology prevents them from using most EVA suits, requiring them to be cycled.
- Alright. So. Long ago, Adhomai, an icy planet where the Tajarans live, was taken over by a ruling class called the Slavemasters, although the Tajarans called them basically The Overseers. The Overseers meant a good life.. For the ruling class. Being anything else and even speaking to an Overseer out of turn meant beating or death. The Overseers effectively had 90s level tech, with late 2000s level communications tech.
- So about fifty years ago, after hundreds of years of enslavement, a small scholarly exploration discovered Adhomai and it's inhabitants, the Tajarans. The exploration team viewed the Overseers in a positive light. They went back to Earth.
- Few years later, some mega corporations showed up, putting down little bases and outposts to map the planet out as "aid." Shortly after this, one intellectual from the oppressed majority escaped the planet and found safety in an NT facility. He found that collaborating together would improve everyone's living conditions in his manuscript Gazing Upwards.
- He distributed it, and the Overseers' response was faster than Beepsky. Soon enough, what started with unrest, to a rebellion, ended up in a full-scale war. His name's been lost to history, but his pen name lives on. Harimah Ranjiira.
- The megacorps donated support to both parties, but the Rebel forces had an advantage of numbers and technology from the megacorporations. The swift, critical blow was dealt by the Hadii turning coat and supporting the rebels.
- Soon enough, Adhomai was free. It's primary central government was now ruled by Clan alliances. Medical corporations formed a belt near the equator, mining and production at the north and south. The biggest, baddest influence on the planet is Nanotrasen, due to their ties with Ranjiira.
- The Tajarans speak a language known as Siik'mas. It's (pretty much meowing), and is possible to be spoken by humans! However, the human mouth cannot handle some of it, making human siik'mas speakers come off as somber and stilted.
- Siik'tajr is also spoken, although it's an informal sign language substitute used by the under-class before the revolution. It features an incredible amount of tail and body movement, allowing for stealthy communication during the revolution.
- They tend to use cyrillic/latin letters for their writing down of siik'mas and tajr, with their actual old written language being linguisitcally in crit.
- Their most notable religion is Tajr-kii S'randarr.
- "By the Light of S'randarr, we are Ascended."
- They hold the belief that S'randarr, the sun of the system, orange, and Messa, a gas giant, are locked in a struggle for the fate of the dead. So they believe that when Tajarans die, their souls go to this place called the Bounty, where Messa sucks them dry for fuel and leaves them a husk. The hope is that S'randarr's ever-watchful gaze can see the soul, snatch it up before it's turned into a dark, mindless husk by Messa, and be lifted from the Bounty to Ascend into S'randarr.
- There's three 'breeds' of Tajarans out there.
- Njarir'Akhan: They're taller than the average Hharar. Thinner, with lithe muscles and a predatory grace. They're seen as the warrior types of the Tajara.
- Hharar: The typical, everyday Tajaran. They have the highest population, and they're the first kind that humans met.
- Zhan-Khazan: The larger, stockier cousins of the Hharar. They're nomadic and follow two rules. Don't let others force their will on you, and nobody can live alone.
- Why do you want to play this species?:
- I'd love to play this species because I love how well-developed and intriguing their lore is. I also have a thing for catpeople in various games.
- Character:
- Zakaria Kaytam is a variously employed Tajaran in his mid-20s. He is tall and lanky with soft, ivory fur and blue eyes. He is annoyed by stoicism, but a sucker for gratuitous violence. As with the rest of the clan, the boy's happy to co-exist with Nanotrasen, although they could do without his species as a whole. His loyalty is placed in a red armband, given to him by a very close friend just before death.
