Meduka 2.2: Now Fall(out)

[16:43] <Genshuku> Last time, on Meduka: Feathers! Feathers everywhere!
[16:44] <Sakata_Ginko> AND VEGETA HAS JUST GONE SUPER-SAI--
[16:45] <Genshuku> ...While the youma has been pressed with some heavy duty attacks, there's a whole lot of feathers around. It's...kind of nuts. And they totally retaliate when you swat them!
[16:47] <Genshuku> While the bird might be in poor shape, this storm still isn't over yet! ...And in the distance, far below, just to underline this point, another one appears.
[16:48] <Genshuku> Hopefully, this thing will only be able to make a pillow with these feathers, as opposed to a bed!
[16:54] <Misao_Midorikawa> "This... doesn't look good," Misao shakes her metal-encased head.  "Yuna-san, d-don't do anything brash, alright?"
[16:56] <Sakata_Ginko> Ginko attempted to move toward the group of Megucas. Despite the feathers' attempts to stop her movement with suppressive fire, she still moved upwards, but not as far as she would have liked.
[16:57] * Yuna_Mizuno nods at Misao, "Don't worry about me... Focus on stopping this thing..."
[17:00] <Misao_Midorikawa> "Youma, you're going down!" Misao courageously charged at the harpy with a halberd!  "Hraaaaah!
[17:06] <Genshuku> Misao charges with an incredible speed, in addition to courage, and pierces the harpy! The strike prompts it to howl...but the howl is more that of an angry dying animal than the savage beast you'd been dealing with until now! Still fearsome, but much less so since it's clearly on its last...wings.

[17:07] <Misao_Midorikawa> "It's still alive..." The knight muses, as an orb of red light was emitted from the halberd, surrounding Yuna.  "Wh-what the-"

[17:10] * Yuna_Mizuno was embraced by the orb, feeling strangely safe behind it. Being that it was an orb of magical energy, it probably wouldn't stand up to as much punishment as, say, a thick metal shield would... still, the protective barrier gave her some comfort
[17:15] <Raitaki> Except for Ginko, everyone was getting rather beat-up..."Time to wrap this up!" Akiko slammed her scepter onto the ground, and searched her memories for an ace to guarantee their victory. Not good enough...Not good enough...There! With a fierce cry, she concentrated and pulled the image from her mind to reality! The trio of magical girls next to the youma buckled as some sort of platform suddenly emerged beneath
[17:15] <Raitaki> them, rising upwards. It was a replica of a mighty British battleship! "HMS Warspite! Starboard barrage, fire!" A deafening chorus echoed through the slums, as a series of artillery guns punched several holes through the youma, obliterating some debris behind it!
[17:20] <Genshuku> On the youma's last legs, when a single normal hit could very well have done it in, Akiko chose a battleship. The artillery punches those holes good, through the wings, head, and...most other parts of the youma, up to AND including the feather that hid for cover. It would screech and howl, if it still had the parts to do so connected to it. But, alas, it does not, and after a fair amount of these holes are made, the rest of the youma dissipates in a fine, purple mist, scattered by the wind.
[17:20] <Genshuku> ...Hey, the wind is still going. ...Though, it did get a lot lighter!
[17:23] <Genshuku> The feathers...while still animated, seem to take on a different air about them. Perhaps with the loss of the youma, they've been affected in some way?
[17:25] <Raitaki> The Warspite descended, carrying the trio back to the ground, and disappeared into the pavement, leaving a few last faint echoes of the waves and the slightest trace of salt in the air as a goodbye. Akiko hopped out of the deck onto the ground as it faded, and took a few shaky steps to regain her balance. "That..took quite some effort..."
[17:27] <Misao_Midorikawa> "Th-that was scary!" The Flame hugged the artist tightly out of fear.  "D-don't do that again without telling us, alright?"
[17:29] <Genshuku> Yuna can tell that these feathers have been greatly weakened! With the dying down of the wind, they won't be able to throw much of anything...and without the youma to give them direction, all they can do is flail wildly. ...Which is a reason to take care of that!
[17:30] * Yuna_Mizuno was crouched down on the ground, covering her head as the battleship had fired its massive cannons, tearing the Youma to shreds. "Is... is it gone?" she says, looking up, trembling from head to toe... To her relief, the Youma had indeed been defeated... Its feathers still remained though...
[17:32] <Genshuku> Also, there's a lack of one of these 'Oblivion Seeds' that have been talked about...but that might be because the youma is, in a sense, still around.
[17:37] * Yuna_Mizuno approaches Misao, the two of them looking rather worse for wear. "Oh jeez, you look horrible... hang on..." she closed her eyes and concentrated, and the two of them were surrounded in a warming glow. Shortly thereafter, the two of them began to emit green sparkles, and they would feel their spirits being lifted quite a bit as...
[17:37] * Yuna_Mizuno 's healing magic worked its... well... magic...
[17:45] <Genshuku> The feathers move! They...can still tornado, but honestly, it's still not much. And they seem to have forgotten aiming entirely.
[17:50] * Yuna_Mizuno stands straight and tall as two feathers charge blindly in her direction. One of them bounces harmlessly off the shield, destroying itself in the process, but the other one managed to pierce through the barrier, grazing her exposed shoulder. Yuna winced a bit at this, but shrugged it off, as the feathers were no longer guided. This feather, too...
[17:51] * Yuna_Mizuno ...destroyed itself, as if the exertion from breaking through the barrier had worn it out
[17:52] <Genshuku> The feathers drop from the sky, dissolving in the same purple mist~!
[17:57] <Sakata_Ginko> Seeing that the boss was dead without much help from her, Ginko charged at the feathers. Her sword glowed bright pink, and suddenly extended to astounding proportions--almost long enough that she could carve a building in half without difficulty.
[17:58] <Sakata_Ginko> Her sword, with her grunt of frustration, cut into one feather without stopping. The tip of her sword then sliced another in half!
[17:59] <Genshuku> Today's lesson, magic might be less stable than one would figure! Both are sliced in two! Only one is left! The storm starts to gradually fade, and the only things still getting blown about are empty water bottles and other such junk.
[17:59] <Genshuku> The bodies had long since landed!
[18:07] <Misao_Midorikawa> "Hrah!" Misao dashes through the tornado aimed at her, and stops in front of the attack aimed at Akiko.  "You're safe, Akiko-sama!"
[18:10] <Raitaki> Akiko recovered from her brief daze just in time to notice Misao blocking an attack for her. "Huh? Oh, thanks..." ...Sama?
[18:12] <Misao_Midorikawa> "You're welcome," The knight's helmet dematerializes, revealing a smiling Misao underneath, with what appeared to be red hair in twintails.  She runs off to the last feather, and failed to aim her javelin throw correctly.
[18:15] <Genshuku> The wind didn't make that fly off course! It was just off. You can try to convince people otherwise, but you know. You know.
[18:17] <Genshuku> ...Though it's still kind of hard to aim at a feather. It's small!
[18:18] <Raitaki> "Just one left, huh? ..Let's just get this over with." Akiko waved her hand, and the same crows from before materialized and swarmed the last remaining feather. This would be censored if the feather had blood.
[18:20] <Genshuku> It would be, but instead, the birds settle a score...well, ok, they don't, they've got far more important things on their minds, like bird politics, which this bird never really cared for anyway. The feather is torn apart!
[18:21] <Genshuku> And with the silencing of the last feather, the storm meets its end, and dies down completely. The air is still...which is a great improvement, honestly.
[18:22] <Genshuku> And from the air, a black...gemlike object descends, with a faint green glow. It descends particularly slowly, so it wouldn't be too hard to grab it!
[18:22] <Genshuku> And anyone paying attention could easily haphazard a guess as to what it was!
[18:23] <Misao_Midorikawa> "We did it...?" Misao looks at the gem, and leaps up to snatch it.  "We did it!  Wediditwediditwedidit!"
[18:25] <Raitaki> Akiko looked up from the ground at her celebrating comrade, and sighed in relief. There were a few hiccups few and there, but this couldn't be called anything but a success!
[18:25] <Sakata_Ginko> Ginko let out a small sigh as her transformation collapsed. She could feel the residual energy of magic dancing across her skin, and somehow her mood was not as good as before. "Stop bouncing around," she chided somewhat harshly, "It's our first fight and it took this long. I've got to get better at rolling."
[18:27] * Yuna_Mizuno promptly fell onto the ground, finally able to relax as the wind finally dies down. "Whew... That was quite a battle..." she said, smiling as Misao celebrated excitedly. However, when Ginko told her off for being cheerful, she turned to her and shot her a glare, but didn't say anything otherwise... It would seem the battle had worn on her nerves as well.
[18:29] <Genshuku> The light of the gem flickers and wavers. For some reason, you feel as though this thing possesses power! Power that it obviously won't be able to utilize, but...handle with care, you suppose!

[18:33] <Raitaki> With a bit of mental effort, Akiko floated back up to her teammates. "Hmm, Ginko-senpai might have a point. At least we got in done the first try, so it's okay to celebrate a bit, right?"
[18:43] * Yuna_Mizuno nods, "I agree..." she says, walking over to Raitaki, "We managed to defeat our first Youma and survive. It was a struggle at times, but I"m sure that as we hone our powers, we'll be able to handle tougher opponents..."
[18:44] <Sakata_Ginko> "I think you're all being too optimistic about things," Ginko said, the irritation growing stronger in her voice. "Shit's only going to get worse from here on in. Are y'all ready for it?"
[18:46] * Raitaki is now known as Shirayuki_Akiko
[18:50] * Yuna_Mizuno glares once again at Ginko... She was really starting to get on her nerves with her attitude.
[18:51] <Misao_Midorikawa> Misao remained silent as she reverted back to her human form, but then lashed out at the upperclassman with a backhand!
[18:52] <Shirayuki_Akiko> That was quite the mood killer...But nothing the older girl said was untrue, so Akiko didn't protest. It wouldn't help to allow friction to start building this early if they were to last as a team. "...You might be right, senpai. Our apologi-" Her words were cut short by Misao unexpectedly lashing out. She could only stare in shock!
[18:55] <Sakata_Ginko> Ginko caught it. Then, she twisted the wrist, her other elbow slamming into her kouhai's back, and leaned her body weight into Misao in a standard hold as both of them fell onto the ground, Misao face first.
[18:56] <Sakata_Ginko> "What the FUCK do you think you're doing!?" Ginko screamed at the girl. Her blood boiled for a moment as she put more force into the elbow, which sandwiched Misao's spine between it and the ground.
[18:57] * Yuna_Mizuno 's eyes widen as both Misao and Ginko start brawling. Now that they weren't in magical girl forms, Ginko would clearly have an advantage and could do some serious damage to Misao. "What's gotten into you two?" she cries out, rushing over to them. They were working so well together during the battle... Were things really going to fall apart this soon?

[19:01] <Misao_Midorikawa> The girl lets out a small whimper in response to the other knight's question, definitely looking pained.  "I-I... I'm s-sorry..."
[19:03] <Sakata_Ginko> The blood haze retreated from Ginko's eyes as her vision cleared of red. Suddenly releasing her grip on Misao's wrist, she leaped off of the other girl as if she were an alien. "I... you... what... how...?"
[19:03] <Shirayuki_Akiko> Akiko continued to stare, frozen in shock as Ginko wrestled the younger girl to the ground, until Yuna's voice snapped her out of it. "Alright. No. No." Akiko placed a hand on Ginko's shoulder, and lightly shook it. "Both of you. That's enough."
[19:07] * Yuna_Mizuno lets out a sigh as the two of them come to their senses. "What's gotten into you two?" she says, dissipating her own magical girl form. "We fought so well together, now look at you..." An uncharacteristic anger was clearly present in her voice. "Falling apart after the first battle... We're a team working together, not a group of bounty hunters going for a kill..."
[19:09] <Misao_Midorikawa> "I-I'm so sorry, Yuna-san!" Misao began to cry, her hair somehow catching on fire.  "I... I don't know what came over me..."
[19:09] * Yuna_Mizuno "e're supposed to aid each other, not beat them into a bloody pulp... I hope this isn't a sign of things to come in the future..." she stands there for a few moments before relaxing and collapsing to the ground again, clutching her head, "Oww.... oww...."
[19:11] <Sakata_Ginko> "... the hell...?" Ginko observed everything around her, her head spinning furiously at all of it. "...... You think... Is this somehow related to our battle earlier?"
[19:14] <Genshuku> The area is still a mess! At least it's youmaless. One would imagine that people might eventually return, due to the lack of youma...but considering the state of the place...that might be a while.
[19:15] <Genshuku> In between the rubble and dead bodies, anyway.
[19:15] * Yuna_Mizuno looks up, still clutching her head in pain, "Nnnh... we're all probably just... a little on edge..." she says, returning to her usual quiet self. "That was a tough fight, after all..."
[19:16] <Shirayuki_Akiko> Akiko raised an eyebrow at the frankly bizarre way everyone else's mood was going. Maybe Ginko was right, and that battle did something to mess with their temper. ...Nope, she still felt kind of mad, though not as much as before, since it didn't really seem like this mess was her teammates' fault. She sighed exasperately. Akiko dispelled her magical girl outfit (and nearly stumbling due to the sudden lack of
[19:16] <Shirayuki_Akiko> walking stick), and looked the other girls over. She sighed somewhat exasperatedly. "Well...For starters, how about we settle down and have dinner somewhere?"
[19:19] <Shirayuki_Akiko> Her eyes wandered over to Misao, and she immediately stiffened. Stumbling a few steps back, she could only manage to point wordlessly at Misao, looking utterly in shock.
[19:20] <Misao_Midorikawa> "U-um... does anybody smell something... burning?" Misao naively asked.  "A-and why does it feel so... hot?"
[19:23] * Yuna_Mizuno looks over at Misao as well, staring at her for a few moments. It took a moment to click, but then she realized two things. 1) Her hair was currently on fire... 2) She wasn't in magical girl form... "M-Misao! Your hair is on fire!" she cries out, pointing as well
[19:25] <Sakata_Ginko> "Damn it!" Ginko glanced around. There isn't anything like water or fire extinguishers nearby. "Find a tarp! Now!" She shouted as she started a short sprint, tackling Misao to the ground. Then, both she and the other girl rolled, with Ginko furiously trying to pat out the flame.
[19:34] <Misao_Midorikawa> "Wh-whu- a-ack!" Misao intelligently commented as she was knocked down.  "U-um... Gin-senpai, y-you're..."
[19:38] <Shirayuki_Akiko> A shoddy-looking (or maybe it looked shoddy because it wasn't perfectly bucket-shaped) bucket suddenly appeared above the rolling duo on the ground, and dumped quite some muddy-looking water on top of them! Akiko was somehow transformed, and was pointing her scepter at the two while panting heavily.
[19:42] <Genshuku> But, among the wreckage of battle, new life doth grow!  A tree sprout can be noticed on the field by those attentive!

[19:52] <Genshuku> The sapling stands proud amongst the wreckage! The wreckage is quite expansive, but it's certainly noticable now. Not much left to do but either take a fascination with dead bodies or go round town!
[19:54] <Genshuku> You can't exactly return to the town square, considering it's well past 4 PM. At least, you wouldn't really be alone.
[19:55] <Misao_Midorikawa> "W-waubrhgrbg!" Misao's surprise at the sudden bucket was interrupted by its contents.  "Th-thank you, Akiko-sama!"
[20:01] <Genshuku> The cherry tree blossoms, and the girls rest in its shade. ...Wait, what? ...A strange time for a viewing, you'd think.
[20:05] <Genshuku> NEXT TIME, ON MEDUKA: Probably not a viewing, the blossoms are gone and the fruit has already sprouted. Don't blink!
