  1.
  2. Wheatfield was your stereotypical village, population 5 families each growing a field of a crop you can guess if you really put your mind to it and 10 assorted individuals without a relationship to call their own, the innkeeper was a retired adventurer and the blacksmith was a spinster. It was a peaceful place where not much of anythin happened from day to day.
  3.
  4. Of course, there wouldn't be a story that began here if that were true. A demihuman soaring through the air and landing alight the roof of the two story inn shattered the illusion of normalcy. An ancient and holy looking entity, wings spread wide and faint halo atop her brow.
  5.
  6. Bastion tore a chunk of flesh out of the unfortunate rabbit that was her meal as several villagers murmured fron the stones beneath her. "Weirdest harpy I ever seen" "T'aint no harpy ya dolt. Its got arms! One of them demihumans!" "Why is she naked?" and so on.
  7.
  8. The door opened carefully as a smiling woman stepped onto the cobblestones, walking out to the group and turning to look up curiously. Ella tilted her head curiously. The demihuman had some familiar features, an aura of Life that was very rare... but there was a dangerous aspect beneath the calm surface. For all its innocence and divine appearance, this was clearly a powerful combatant. She called up more forefully, cutting through the noises of bugs socializing. "Hoi there, what brings you to this quaint village?" A hand resting on the hilt of her blade, better safe than sorry.
  9.
  10. The demihuman made a gross choking noise before expelling a bundle of tiny bones onto the roof, crushing it beneath a foot as she straightened up and looked down upon the gathering. The humans were inconsequential, but the woman with the pointed ears had strength. With a powerful ripple of her wings she soared up into the air and dived down to land directly infront of her.
  11.
  12. Two impassive gazes met. Neither showing the slightest hint of intimidation. "I am bored. I thought I would force them to entertain me. But here you are, far more interesting than these dulled blades... I may yet leave them unharmed, if you'll humor me and provide a fight nearby." spoke the demihuman. A challenge and a threat all the same. And the half-elf nodded simply in response. "For my own amusement, rather than the safety of these humans. I could use the exercise. You seem strong, I would hate to kill you. Perhaps first blood?"
  13.
  14. A derisive snort from the angelic one. "You seem strong, I would hate to die. First blood doesn't suit me however. Let us make this properly fun and make sure only one of us can walk away. I am Bastion the Savior deposed of a world in need of saving." She took flight towards the woods, and a clearing within.
  15.
  16. Ella was not so far behind as one might expect, her bodies mana being aspected towards light itself meant that her reactions were second to none, her body moved with unnatural grace even for an elf and indeed every action was just a bit faster than it otherwise would be. They had left the village behind and now the blonde stood facing the ashen haired angel. "Ella Adikia. I do not have a fancy title... Everything I have has been earned through hard work." The simple sword was removed from its sheath, more symbolic than anything else. "Show me a good time, Basti!"
  17.
  18. Her body erupted with light-aspected magic. Armor of pure energy forming around her body as a magical clock appeared in the air above her head. A perfect circle marked with 12 spokes. As she lunged, the topmost hand flew free and attempted to deliver a blow at the exact same instant as her mundane blade did. The others started to float loosely off of the clocks face too.
  19.
  20. The blade of light cut straight towards Bastion, but rather than dismembering or scorching through her scales, it bounced and sputtered ineffectively from the diamondlike lattices of Vajra woven into her scales. The demihuman lashed out with a direct punch towards the other womans head, finding it blocked by multiple layers of shimmering clock hands interposed infront of the blow...
