- Notes
- -Going to see Tresha (half dragon, person with dragon aspects instead of dragonborn)
- -Ghast has been taken care of but they haven't talked... But that's just because Dewton didn't know they had a tongue.
- -Ghast has now been given the nickname Sweet. They have an old name, but they can't remember it. They also told us about their masters, who also wear a black cloak, but they don't have red eyes like the ghasts. They also mistreat the ghasts.
- -Clove shows us the town place. Percy gets to try popped bread! Popped breadpoppedbreadpopdbrdppdbrdpdprbdpd!!! It's very sweet and basically a jelly-filled donut (no Brock reference intended). I should describe it for the rest of the session instead of writing notes. Fun fact: if you ate all of the popped bread in the world, you would die! Did you know that popped bread was first invented by Thomas Popped Breadington, who first pionered the bread olympics and blah blah blah...
- -We're at the post office now. Clove got a letter from her Mom and Percy also got an old, crusty letter from someone named "X"...
- -Oraie takes Livya to her shop to improve armor stuff. Oraie's just an apprentice there, but the owner won't mind (or so we hope).
- -New armor, huzzah!... Unfortunately, we're not really proficient in it, so we're not too comfortable with it yet (disadvantage on strength and dexterity saves).
- -Percy's letter is from Xenia. Percy explains that Xenia is his older sister, and one of the few people he's been close to in his life. Xenia sent Percy away to Noth, but Percy still doesn't fully understand Xenia's reasons. Xenia's last letter implies that she has stopped writing because she is being pursued...
- -We go back to the town hall and speak with Duton and head to Aton via carriage (which weighs A TON, keheheh). Duton also wants us to find a sending stone: 2 different stones that are intertwined to allow two characters to communicate across any distance (basically a magical walkie-talkie).
- -We're going to Aton via ptakattak-pulled carriage (see their section under "creatures") to send a letter to Tresha (daughter of the king of Aton). The king has fallen ill, hence why Tresha is holding down the fort. Duton and Tresha are familiar with each other.
- -Fraggy stays in the Stockford to do some other work.
- -After a few hours riding in the cart, we get close to Aton. The weather is picturesque: birds are chirping and the sun breams pleasantly.
- -Suddenly, a worried tiefling child comes from out of the bushes and warns the players that something is coming and that everyone should duck!
- -A metal-tipped javelin is hurled over our heads and lands squarely in a tree!
- -Three feral ptakattaks, they appear to be very pissed. Livya (using speak with animals) finds out that the birds are upset about the kid stealing their child.
- -Percy asks the child about this, the child lies and Livya shakes the kid for answers, and apparently they had taken the egg for their dad and/or alchemy.
- -Livya hands the egg back, and the bird creatures are passified by this and head off.
- -(I thought for sure that a fight was going to ensue, I got Hollow Knight fighting music pulled up an everything... Ah well)
- -The child tearily explains that their dad's bones are hurting and an alchemist required an egg to make a cure. The kid's name is Nip.
- -We decide to go to the alchemist in Aton with Nip (since we're heading there anyways)... Er, rather, we'll go ahead and deliver Duton's letter to
- -We park our ptakattak and carriage in a stable in Aton.
- -A distrusting elf guard (Leokath) eventually lets us in and we meet Tresha (see physical description in characters). The castle is grandiose
- -Tresha is polite and leads us into a meeting room to discuss current events in private.
- -Tresha silently reads the letter while everyone else awkwardly waits.
- -Tresha waits for Leokath to be out of earshot... And then finally breaks the silence by explaining her disgust in Leokath's overbearing. Tresha is relieved to also drop her royal act, now that Leokath has left.
- -The crew and Tresha exchange introductions.
- -Tresha finishes looking over the letter, which involves the Black Rose cult, the abductors, etc.. Tresha also sounds disgrunteld at Duton (they're exes, and the relationship was stressful to Tresha from the sounds of it).
- -Despite past drama, Tresha is convinced to put that aside and help come up with a plan.
- -We explain how we found Nip to Tresha. Tresha is convinced that this alchemist is up to no-good (because sending a child to steal from javelin-wielding birds isn't exactly a NICE PERSON idea).
- -Tresha also explains that she has to keep up her royal appearance to the public (so if her personality flips, that's why).
- -Before we go, Tresha also gives everyone a heaping-handful of candy from the secret royal candy drawer she has (don't tell anyone it's a secret :<)
- -Added a fist-full of citrus candy to our inventories!
- -We also got 4 loyal guards to assist us in apprehending the alchemist (FE3H battallion meme here).
- -The day progresses to evening as Nip excitedly leads us towards the alchemist. We come across "The Fancy Potieneer," where the alchemist supposedly works at.
- -We park the guards to (uh... well...) guard the exits in case the alchemist makes a break for it.
- -The potion shop REEKS of SCHNOOTINESS. The walls are painted gold, the potions are overpriced, and the elven alchemist running it is in a suit. Their eyes passes over the group as they harshly judge everyone. He is especially angry upon seeing Nip again (his name is Denjamin).
- -The group accuses Denjamin of nearly sending a child on a suicide mission. Denjamin snootily rejects this claim.
- -After holding his feet to the fire, Denjamin finally confesses to wanting to get rid of Nip.
- -Denjamin MAY have used the Suggestion spell to get Nip to steal the egg... Very suspicious.
- -We attempt to negotiate that Denjamin gives us the cure in exchange for not arresting him
- -He attempts to rips us off by giving us a minor healing potion. Livya throws it at him with a natural 20! The potion doesn't shatter, but it just knocks the shopkeeper out cold.
- -Percy uses mage hand to give a good slap to the shopkeeper to wake him up.
- -We convince the shopkeeper that we already paid for a potion to help Nip's dad; Denjamin seems to have been hit by the potion so hard that he's forgotten about everyone... The power of natural 20's is a strange one, but whatever works!
- -We notify the guards to keep an eye out on Denjamin and we decide to take Nip back home.
- -Nip lives on the outskirts of Aton. We find his house and Nip is greeted by his father, an old ratfolk, Mr. Basil.
- -We recap to Mr. Basil how we met Nip, passified some ptakattaks, and "politely" got a potion from Denjamin.
- -Over tea, Mr. Basil (not a tiefling) explains how Nip (a tiefling) was abandoned on his doorstep.
- -Mr. Basil also explains how he used to serve in the war, fighting against Northern Noth.
- -Mr. Basil is curious about Livya (Tiefling Luxlike); Basil met a tiefling during the war.
- -Basil also recounts how he became disillusioned in fighting Noth, as he was instructed to kill innocents.
- -We are gifted a pink quartz necklace. How preedi!
- -We head back to the castle courtyard. Two figures dart quietly away in the shadows...
- -Lyvia and Clove notice, we pursue them.
- -There are two guard figures whispering something.
- -We overhear, it sounds like they're plotting to off Tresha, possibly by using us adventurers as a coverup.
- -Leokoth would be put in charge if this were the case... Is he in on this?
- -They whisper "long live the dark rose" before departing.
- -Right before they left, Percy stealthily cast presdigitation to create an orange mark on the bottom of one of the guard's boots.
- -The two traitors are none the wiser. We make it back to Tresha and Percy informs Tresha of his plan.
- CHARACTERS
- Tresha: Currently filling in for her ill king dad in ruling Aton. She has pink/purple hair, large wings (due to her being part-dragon), and has a large stature similar to Duton's. In person, she's very laid-back, but still has to maintain a royal appearance in public.
- Duton: Captain guard police man of Stockford. He is big and red and has cool hair so that's cool
- Quintin: best
- Nip: (Jiji's voice from Kiki's Deliver Service) "THEY'RE CALLING YOU AN EGG-THIEF!". Looks up to Mr. Basil (as he was willing to risk his skin getting a Ptakattak egg to cure him).
- Leokath: A very grumpy elf. Basically Squidward in a fantasy setting. Disliked by everyonoe (including Tresha).
- Denjamin: Fancy potioneer more like ass. hole. snooty prick. dumb idiot. doesn't deserve full sentences for descriptions.
- Mr. Basil: Nip's caretaker, a kindly old ratfolk.
- PLACES
- Noth: beeg continent
- Stockford: Town in Noth
- Aton: Tresha house
- Diocese of Catbury: Percy house
- CREATURES
- Ptakattak: Large birds that have dexterous feathery hands for tails. Come in two funny flavors! - the domesticated version which are nice and pull wagons, and the ones that are capable of hucking javelins with deadly precision and speed.
- Bugs: there are many! look at them go?
- Abductors: They are composed of miscellaneous stitched together clumps of flesh. They were seen at the tavern in a dreadfully large swarm, and apparently they are known to use their long arms to kidnap people for... Well... Let's hope you don't find out the hard way!
