  32. 1. INTRODUCTION
  33. Welcome, Newfriend to Showderp. Showderp is a group of Pokemon Showdown players on 4chan's Pokemon board, /vp/ who maintain a sort of tournament, where a person with a trip, called "Champ" claims and asks for a team in a specified metagame. The suggesters then reply with sets and pokemon for Champ to use, and then Champ posts battles in the thread for them to watch. When champ gets tired of their current team, They'll call "New Team" and the first six suggesters get their sets put on the new team. When Champ gets tired of champing, They'll call "New Champ" and another person with a trip can claim. Following this guide will help you not look like a retard on your first day.

  35. 2. Champing
  36. So, you've decided to take up the mantle as Champ eh? Well good on you then! There's a lot for you to learn now, so hold on tight!

  38. 2.1 Tripcodes
  39. While champing, you'll want to use a tripcode, so no jackass can impersonate you while you post.
  40. Huh? you don't know how to use tripcodes?
  41. In the name field, type something in the format of

  45. Where you set the name and password anything you want.
  46. Remember your tripcode! Because you'll be using it for a long while.

  49. 2.2 Teambuilding
  50. Now you have to wait for people to suggest some sets and pokemon for you! Once you receive Pokemon, Build sets on Showdown's teambuilder, but not too slow! People might think you're a RUSE CHAMP(6. the ruse), and that's not a good thing.
  51. So, you've been suggested a set that you don't know? Go to the website https://dogars.ga/ and search it up. For example, "Citizen Snips" is a drapion set involving acupressure and rest talk. Any other meme that you're not familiar with, look it up on dogars.
  52. If even dogars doesn't have the set, then you can should ask in the thread, If all else fails, replace it with Rhyperior.

  54. 2.3 Battles
  55. So now that you have your team ready, You should start a battle and post the link in the thread. Pretty soon, some spectators will join to cheer you on while you battle with your shitmons! What's this? the opponent set MODJOIN??? WHAT A FAGGOT! If you see the opponent set modjoin, type the command "/modjoin off" in the chatbox, so your spectators can watch the battle!
  56. Another thing you should do is to post links to your next battle in the previous one, for your spectators to follow along easier.

  58. 2.4 Impeachment
  59. Hopefully, It will never have to come to this, but if a champ is being particularly retarded, skips suggestions or is too slow, another person will impeach the previous one, revoking the previous champ's status as champ. The impeacher then becomes the new champ.
  60. General grounds for impeachment:
  61. Changing sets
  62. - Yeah don't do this, If you're suggested a premade set, don't change moves or item or anything.
  63. Rusing
  64. - Rusechamps don't get to champ.
  65. Skipping suggestions
  66. - You should always use the first six suggested pokemon for your team, if you skip one by mistake, a suggester might remind you that
  67. you missed one. If this is not changed, someone may impeach you.

  69. If you feel bored of your team, you may call new team and get a new one, If you don't want to champ anymore, call new champ and have someone else take the role.
  70. A Note, It's good etiquette to play at least three battles with the team you get before calling new.

  72. 3. Suggesting
  73. So, there's a champ out there, asking for a team? Quick! reply with a pokemon! As mentioned before, you can visit dogars for some premade memes for your champ.
  74. Suggestions range from "specs weedle" to complete sets like
  75. SOLID SUGGESTER (Rhyperior) @ Weakness Policy
  76. Ability: Solid Rock
  77. EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
  78. Jolly Nature
  79. - Rock Polish
  80. - Earthquake
  81. - Rock Blast
  82. - Fire Punch
  83. So feel free to suggest anything that's legal in the tier that champ says.

  85. 3.1 Making Memes
  86. If you want to make a meme, make it epic. By epic, I mean to not just copy a smogon set. If you really wanted champ to use a smogon set then just say so. Once you've made a meme, you can either just suggest it to the current champ, or upload it to dogars.ga for future use.

  88. 3.2 Forcing Memes
  89. Don't spam your meme to every champ that claims, It's bad etiquette, and definitely don't suggest it to the same champ after they call new team, They're calling new team because they want something new.

  92. 4. Spectating
  93. After champ's finished making their team, they'll post a battle in the thread. If the screen appears blank, You have to login to a showdown account to watch that battle.

  95. 4.1 Etiquette
  96. Obviously, You shouldn't be too rude to champ, opponents or other spectators, You're free to make fun of them for making mistakes but try not to let that go too far. And another thing, try not to say any vulgar words or anything that the showdown jannies wouldn't like, You can still swear, but don't call people retards or faggots in chat, as much as you may want to.

  98. 4.2 A visit from the moderators
  99. Every now and then, showdown drivers, mods and admins drop by and lock the chat so nobody can type, Keep in mind that they're humongous faggots for doing this, but try to hold back from saying that to their faces. If you do end up breaking some showdown rule, sometimes it will go unnoticed, but if some faggot reports you, you'll be locked.
  100. A lock is equivalent to a mute, A locked user cannot type in chat, type commands or even have names on their pokemon. There's a way to evade this though...

  102. 4.3 Evading
  103. So, You've broken the laws of the land, and the showdown moderators have punished you for it. What now?
  104. Well typically for your first few offenses, the lock lasts for 1-4 days until you're no longer locked. You shouldn't file an appeal to be unlocked, because the showdown jans hate Showderp and the person who claims the appeal ticket will likely be the same mod that locked you. Locks might last a week, or even forever. There's hope though, If you want to evade your lock, there's two things you can do. Reset your router and create a new account to use for showderp, or if you have a static IP, Get Hoxx VPN and use one of the residential ones, and then log into an unlocked account.

  107. donnel - a base form pokemon that evolves upon killing pokemon
  108. choke / stroke - a terrible play
  109. hijack / jack - when an unregistered opponent disconnects, a spectator rejoins as them and takes control of their account
  110. opp / oppo - opponent
  111. lamp / chimp / limp/ damp / some variation - a dumb champ
  112. to throw - purposely lose the game
  113. neoderp / nuderp - newfag
  114. sneed - sneed
  115. cteam - counterteam

  118. 6. the ruse
  119. Sometimes, there will be someone who claims champ, but doesn't actually champ, post battles or do anything. these people are called "rusechamps", or alternatively "faggots". If you're certain that the current champ is a ruse, feel free to impeach them. Nobody really cares.
