- Two Portals is an idea for a two part mod for Minecraft for point-to-point teleportation.
- The basic idea will be broken into two (2) items of alternate use.
- Item #1 - The Linear Portal:
- One set of Portal Frames are built exactly opposite of each other for travel.
- If the frames are not aligned the ignition will fail and the frame remain inactive.
- The frames are not paired but can be reused for further travel.
- Intermediate frames can be deactivated to provide a longer distance or travel. (See Example #1)
- Example #1:
- Portal Frames A, B and C are active and aligned in a South/North direction. (See Figure #1)
- When all three are ignited you are able to freely travel between each pair as long as you travel towards another portal.
- If you enter through the gate (Portal A) marked in red you will exit through the direction of Portal B marked in red.
- If you enter through the red area of Portal B you will emerge back at Portal A.
- However if you enter through the black area of Portal B you will exit through the area of Portal C.
- This can be chained indefinitely in any direction.
- But if you enter through the back of Portal A facing AWAY from Portal B and C, nothing happens.
- In case Portal B is destroyed or otherwise disabled Portal A will link to Portal C until/if Portal B is repaired or reactivated allowing for portal sneakiness like Interceptions or "hacks".
- Item #2 - The Combination Portal:
- The idea behind the Combination Portal is to make portal pairs that link in any direction over any distance.
- The Combination Portal is built as a standard frame with the four corners made up out of alternate blocks to form a combination.
- A portal pair sharing the same combination link to each-other and none else.
- ^-> Idea #1: One gate might be named the mother gate and walking through any other gate of the same combination will cause the player to exit through the mother gate. Entry though the mother gate will exit the player to a defined default gate. This gives way for hidden or speedy exits leading to a central area.
- How to set the Mother Gate is currently unknown.
- With all that said, what do you think about my idea?
