  1. /SPACECRAFT PROPOSAL 1
  2. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
  3. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
  4. IDEA
  5.
  6. ***This idea is based around spaceships having hit locations that describe the major components that all ships must have, such as its outer hull, propulsion and power core.
  7.
  8. ***It is also quite similar to how Vehicle hit locations work in our Wild Talents Car Combat system.
  9.

  12. HIT LOCATIONS
  13.
  14. 1-3 OUTER HULL Base Hit Boxes: 4
  15. The Outer Hull is the shell that separates what's inside the ship from what's outside. If the Outer Hull takes Killing damage from a single attack in excess of the Craft's Quality rating, then the ship suffers a Hull Breach. When the Outer Hull is filled with Killing, all further damage to this location goes directly to the Structure.
  16.
  17. 4-6 STRUCTURE Base Hit Boxes: 5
  18. A ship's Structure is the framework that holds it in one pieces. If the Outer Hull is its skin, this is its skeleton. When a ship's Structure is filled with Shock, all Armor on the entire vessel is automatically nullified, as the craft has sustained enough damage that any incoming attacks will rattle it. When it is filled with Killing, the ship breaks apart.
  19.
  20. 7-8 SYSTEMS Base Hit Boxes: 5
  21. This Location houses the network of power supplies and interlinked hardware that represents the ship's diverse functions, from Weapons to Life Support. When this location is filled with Shock, all Systems at 2d or lower are offline. When it's filled with Killing, all Systems with less than 5d are disabled.
  22.
  23. By making a Called Shot to this location you can also target specific systems directly.
  24.
  25. 9 CREW
  26. A shot to the 9 location threatens the ship's crew. How this works is detailed below.
  27.
  28. 10 CORE Base Hit Boxes: 3
  29. This represents the heart of your ship: it's power plant and central systems, without which the ship is just a lifeless hulk. If this location is filled with Shock, the vessel is disabled. If it is filled with Killing, it's destroyed.
  30.
  31.
  32. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
  33. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
  34. QUALITY
  35.
  36. ***All Spacecraft have a Quality Rating between 1 (Junk) and 5 (Matchless)
  37.
  38. ***The higher your Quality rating, the more Hit Boxes you have in each hit location.
  39.
  40. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
  41. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
  42. SYSTEM DAMAGE
  43.
  44. ***You can target a specific system, like Weapons or Life Support, by making a Called Shot at a difficulty of 7 or 8.
  45.
  46. ***The amount of damage a System can take is equal to how many dice it has (if you have 4d in Thrust, you can take 4 points of damage to your engines)
  47.
  48. ***When a system is filled with Shock it's down until someone performs an Engineering roll on it to bring it back up
  49.
  50. ***When a system is filled with Killing, it's destroyed
  51.
  52. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
  53. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
  54. CREW DAMAGE
  55.
  56. ***A hit to the 9 Location inflicts damage upon a ship's living occupants. This could be when weapons fire pierces the cockpit of a fighter and wounds the pilot, or when severe damage to a battleship causes consoles to short circuit and send crewmembers flying across the room. However much damage the ship would have taken, someone on board takes it instead.
  57.
  58. ***If the ship has only a single occupant, such as the pilot of a one-man fighter, the pilot rolls 1d and takes the damage rolled to the indicated location.
  59.
  60. ***If there are multiple passengers, each rolls 1d and whoever rolls highest takes the hit.
  61.
  62. ***If your ship has an extensive crew that includes lots of faceless extras, they take the damage instead of major, named characters. In this case, however much damage the ship would take, that's how many extras are harmed (so on a hit that inflicts 6 damage, you'd lose 6 crewmembers). Attacks that inflict shock merely injure these brave souls. Killing damage inflicts severe, life threatening injuries that demand immediate medical attention. If your Crew gets hit with Shock and Killing, there's nothing you can do except warm up the bagpipes for the funerals.
