  1. [08:18] <theMarg0r> General store, a little ways off the main street, mid-to-late morning. It's quite well-stocked with even some basic magic items. The storekeep and a local gaffer chat idly near the front counter talking about the strange music, which has apparently been heard across parts of town since before dawn, speculating as to who could be the source. The storekeep’s wife stocks shelves while their...
  2. [08:18] <theMarg0r> ...young girls run around playing chase. Off in one corner, a suit of full plate armor stands at attention, you’ve heard the store owner mention that it belonged to his wife’s long-deceased grandfather from back when he fought the Pisceans and Nagas.
  3. [08:19] <theMarg0r> "Oh, there it is again!" The shopkeeper's wife remarks. Her husband frowns "I don't..." but then you can all hear it. Beautiful, soft, yet sad, almost ethereal violin music, coming in from the street.
  4. [08:23] <Toadfoot_Feldepost> A diminuitive figure stands before one of the shelves, wearing a stout cloak, thick breeches and a hat. At two and a half feet in height, it's reaching up toward a jug on one of the higher shelves, but it can't seem to reach. "Ana! Ana, come help me!"
  5. [08:23] * Samanhe pauses, one foot just barely inside the shop as she follows Jen around, and cocks her head to the side, listening intently. "Y'all hear that, too, or is it jus' me?"
  6. [08:23] * Jenifer_Teague is looking about the store with interest...but her wallet is lighter than she recalls it being so she's not just buying willy-nilly.
  7. [08:24] <Earthflame> The slim girl in dark clothes nods at the diminutive gentleman, seeming to emerge from his far smaller shadow as she reaches up to get the jug. "This one, Mr Feldepost?"
  8. [08:25] * Kat is leaning on the wall just outside the shop. She doesn't have the need (or the money, now) for frivolities.
  9. [08:25] <Toadfoot_Feldepost> "That's the one!" - The tiny figure's voice has a distinctive croak to it. It reaches up to take the jug with hands bearing mottled, green, moist-looking skin - the hue matching the distinctly amphibian-looking feet that don't quite look like they'd fit any conventional boots.
  10. [08:27] <Earthflame> "Got it, boss-" She turns as she hears familiar voices. "Oh hey, Jen, Sammy! Mr Feldepost, these are the girls I met the other night."
  11. [08:27] <Jenifer_Teague> "Mr Who?" She looks about, somehow missing the frogman.
  12. [08:28] <Samanhe> "Hey, Ana. Mornin', Mister Fieldpost."
  13. [08:28] * Toadfoot_Feldepost turns over the jug in his hands, popping off the cork and sniffing at the contents. "Mnh... No, this is no good." - He looks up as he extends his arms to hand the jug back to Ana, bulbous yellow eyes blinking up at the women towering above him. "Oh, I see! Pleased to make your acquiantances, misses!"
  14. [08:29] <Samanhe> "Likewise. But, uh--y'all *do* hear that, right? 'm not goin' crazy?" She looks over at Jen. "Not one word."
  15. [08:29] <theMarg0r> The children, who are just about on Feldepost's level, notice his odd-looking hands and start swarming around him.
  16. [08:29] <theMarg0r> "Wow, look at that!"
  17. [08:29] <theMarg0r> "He looks weird."
  18. [08:29] <theMarg0r> "Is you a prince?"
  19. [08:29] <Earthflame> Ana takes it back, cocking an ear. "...That is weird."
  20. [08:30] <theMarg0r> There's about half-dozen of them.
  21. [08:31] * Toadfoot_Feldepost lifts his hat. "That's Feldepost, Tof- hey, whoa, not so close!" - The strange frog-man brings up his hands to ward off the children. "Did your mothers not teach you any manners?"
  22. [08:31] * Jenifer_Teague looks down and grins at him. "Oh, hello there Mister Grenouille"
  23. [08:33] <Kat> "I hear it too. Wonder where it's coming from."
  24. [08:33] <Toadfoot_Feldepost> "Feldepost. Tofor Feldepost," he repeats with a huff, plonking his hat back on. It doesn't seem to fit his head that well, evidently designed for a more mammalian skull.
  25. [08:33] <Earthflame> "Argh, boss!" Ana shoves the jug back on the shelf, trying to interpose herself with "Come on kids, you don't need to bother him... Come on, please?"
  26. [08:34] <theMarg0r> The woman of the house looks embarassed, and tries to round up the children and separate them from the object of their interest. "Children, please... I'm sorry about that, sir..." one of them is about to pull Feldepost's hat off "You too, Polly. Tell you what, how about you go grab me that bag of spice from the basement, so I can make my special stew, hm?" pause "And some for our guests,...
  27. [08:34] <theMarg0r> ...too, as an apology."
  28. [08:36] <Jenifer_Teague> "Hmmm?"
  29. [08:37] <Earthflame> Ana gives a nervous glance to her shadow again... It would be bad if it started acting up around children...
  30. [08:37] * Toadfoot_Feldepost purses his lips and crosses his arms, looking a little indignant at the children as they're shooed off. "That would be lovely, madam," he says with a tone suggesting it's the least she could do. His throat reflexively expands with a characteristic *brrrk*, and he shuffles a bit with embarassment.
  31. [08:38] <theMarg0r> Suddenly, a cold chill blows through the room, towards the corner with the suit of armor in it, and the violin music shifts - just for a second - playing two sinister notes - a high one, then a low, before going back to normal. If sudden violin music out of nowhere can be called "normal".
  32. [08:39] * Jenifer_Teague holds up a copper coin "I bet we are about to run into something annoying and likely bardic."
  33. [08:40] <Earthflame> Ana shivers. "...Okay. This is getting creepy. And I don't think it's me this time."
  34. [08:40] * Samanhe frowns. "I know y'all heard that one. What's goin' on?"
  35. [08:41] <Jenifer_Teague> "Anyone going to take the bet?" She shrugs
  36. [08:41] * Toadfoot_Feldepost shivers. "I say, do your new friends know anything about this, Ana?" he says instead of directly addressing Jennifer. "I don't care for this bandless music one bit."
  37. [08:44] * Samanhe picks up the case with her bow-staff in it and pulls the weapon out, stringing it. Just in case.
  38. [08:44] <theMarg0r> As one of the young girls opens the cellar door to fetch a bag of herbs and spices for her mother, you hear her small child’s voice suddenly exclaim with delight, “Grammy?!” to which the storekeep’s wife patiently explains, “No, dear. You know Grammy and Grampy passed on from the fever last winter. She’s not waiting in the cellar for you.” Out of the corner of her eye, Jen...
  39. [08:44] <theMarg0r> ...notices the arm of...
  40. [08:44] <theMarg0r> ...the suit of armor seems to shift and slightly raise, as if it had been dislodged and the whole thing was about to fall forward.
  41. [08:46] <theMarg0r> Suddenly, the sound sound of the heavy, slow tread of bare feet climbing the cellar stair and the look of delight still on the young girl’s face as she shouts, “It is Grammy!” at something behind the cellar door that you can’t see yet. As the suit of armor lurches forward to punch Jen in the face. And this must be grampy. Or what's left of him, come back for his armor.
  42. [08:50] * Jenifer_Teague ducks under the punch and yells at the girl "Get out of the way!" Spring-Powered Wrist Sheaths bring her guns to her hands...
  43. [08:51] <theMarg0r> The suit of armor TRIES to hit Jen, but rather it just generally lurches forward, making its attempt generally easy to dodge. The little girl, slow to process what just happened, is grabbed and dragged away by her mother, but is nonetheless safe for now. The whole family panics, runs upstairs, and shuts the door.
