- > Star looked in the mirror, getting ready to start her morning.
- > "Alright Butterfly, so things haven't been going your way. It's time to change that. You're going to have a great day today! Just remember, you're Star Butterfly!"
- > Looking over to her wand lying on her nightstand, her mind jumped to Glossaryck, her book, and finally Marco.
- >Shaking her head free from those thoughts, she repeated herself. "You're going to have a great day."
- > "MARCO!" She called out, leaving her room.
- > After a few seconds without a response, worry began to build in her head.
- > Moving towards his room, her mind moved towards when Marco was kidnapped.
- > Fearing that he might have the same fate as Glossryck, she charged through the door, wand at the ready.
- > The room was empty.
- > Thinking about it, Star realized that the house had been unusually quiet.
- > No smell of morning pancakes floated through the house.
- > No cheerful whistling from Mr. or Mrs. Diaz.
- > No Marco.
- > "Star?" She heard the voice from the window.
- > Turning towards the voice, Star saw Janna coming into Marco's room from the Window.
- > "Janna? What are you doing in Marco's room?"
- > "I usually come here when Marco's at school."
- > With Janna's words, realization hit Star. "Janna, I'm late for school!"
- > "Chill Star. Didn't you read the note Marco left you?"
- > "Note?"
- > "Yea. Down in the living room. We all decided that you had a pretty bad night, so we got ya the day off."
- > "Oh. I guess I'm stuck here then."
- > "Star, don't sounds so bumbed. Why do you think I'm here, aside from this." Janna consoled while swiping one of Marco's dirty socks.
- > "I figured," Janna continued "that you probably wanted a bit of a break from magic and Marco, so I got this."
- > "Grass?" Star asked, squinting at the plastic bag holding the green substance.
- > "It's not grass Star. Think of this as earth's magic. And who's a better wizard than me and," pulling Star to the window, Janna pointed down to the rusted, beat up car, "Oskar."
- > As if on que, Oskar hit his keytar, sending a tune of music through the air.
- > "Trust me Star, you're gonna love it."
- > Getting into Oskar's car was a tight fit for the three of them, Star being sandwiched between both Janna and Oskar.
- > "Alright Star," Janna began as she grabbed the bong from the pile of junk lying in Oskar's car, "Oskar's gonna show ya what to do."
- > Oskar, after running through the motions, let out a puff of the smoke, and passed it to Star.
- > Star lit the bong, inhaled the smoke, and let it out with a puff, trying to mimic Oskar as best she could.
- > Feeling the elevation, Star passed the bong to Janna. "No big deal. My magic could do this."
- > Janna passed the bong back to Oskar. "Is that a challenge, Butterfly? Hey Oskar, mind if I use some of your stuff?"
- > "Sure. Let's go to Britta's Taco."
- > With no objections heard, Oskar started his car while Janna pulled out a new bag, filled with a while powder.
- > Putting it on the dashboard, Janna lined it with a school ID holding Marco's face on it.
- > "Now star, this is pretty strong stuff."
- > Janna went along one of the lines, inhaling it through her nose.
- > "If you think you're ready."
- > Star, now following Janna's lead, blocked one nostril, and went down the line of coke.
- > The only way Star could think of explaining the sensation was floating on a cloud.
- > "So, Star, whad'ya think about earth magic?"
- > "This is amazing! I can't wait to tell Marco about this magic."
- > Janna, getting a dire look, shut's Star's mouth with her hand and leans in close.
- > "Star, you can't tell Marco about this. He can never know."
- > "Hey guys," Oskar chimed in. Star and Janna had forgotten he was there.
- > "Isn't that Marco over there?"
- > Janna and Star could now both see Marco talking with Jackie as they both walked towards the car.
- > "Oskar, time to GO!" Janna yelped, reaching over Star's lap to push down the accelerator.
- > His car charges forward, narrowly avoiding a pedestrian crossing the road.
- > "That was a close one, Star."
- > Janna, turning to star, sees her face distraught with worry.
- > "Marco's with Jackie." She glances at the clock on Oskar's dashboard. "Three hours after schools ended..."
- > Janna, realizing how bumbed Star is, looked up to Oskar. "Hey, stop by my place."
- > "Alright."
- > Star sat with Oskar, alone in front of Janna's house.
- > Oskar was taking a hit, offering one to Star.
- > Star accepting, takes a hit, a tear welling up in her eye thinking about Marco and Jackie.
- > Feeling a hand on her shoulder, Star looked up to see Janna holding a gift.
- > A poorly wrapped package with a card attached.
- > "Open it when you're alone. C'mon, we should get you home."
- > Star, tears still in her eyes, thanked Janna.
- > Having gotten home safely, Star sat in her bed, the present clutched against her chest.
- > It was getting dark and Marco hadn't come home.
- > He was still out with Jackie...
- > "Star?"
- > She looked up and saw Marco opening her door.
- > "How'd your day go?" He asked, moving towards her bed.
- > As Marco reached Star's bed, she pulled him into a hug.
- > Hugging her back, Marco told her "Don't worry star. We'll get Glossaryck and you're book."
- > Star said nothing, only wanting to hold onto Marco, trying to keep him from slipping away.
- > "Star, is everything ok?
- > Tears began welling up in Stars eyes.
- > "I don't want to lose you."
- > With this, Marco pulled out of the hug and grabbed star's shoulders.
- > "Star, don't worry. I'll always be here for you."
- > A soft smile broke onto Star's face.
- > "Thanks Marco."
- > Once Marco left and Star was alone again, she looked down at Janna's present.
- > Ripping off the wrapping paper, she saw the familiar red of Marco's jacket.
- > A small note was on it.
- > "I felt like you might need this more. Check the pockets. - Janna"
- >Feeling around the pocket, Star found a few pieces of the green substance she had earlier in the day wrapped in white paper and another note.
- > "Incase you need some more earth magic."
- > Replicating what she had seen Oskar do, she put one of the joints to her lips, lit it, and took a deep breath, hoping that she could feel like she was resting on clouds again.
