  3. Q: What are you playing on?
  4. A: A GameCube console.
  5.
  6. Q: What are you trying to do?
  7. A: Beat the game as fast as possible.
  8.
  9. Q: What is the best time?
  10. A: 3:40:04 by me.
  11.
  12. Q: Why are you resetting?
  13. A: Probably because I got bad stats on Espeon and Croconaw. Good stats save a ton of time, and the resets are relatively short, especially for Espeon.
  14.
  15. Q: What stats are you looking for?
  16. A: 80+ Special Attack on Espeon with a Modest, Mild or Rash nature, which is about 1/14 Espeons. Speed is important enough that it's usually worth resetting Quiet natures. My requirements for Croconaw's stats are less strict because the resets are much longer (19 minutes instead of 2) and Espeon does most of the heavy lifting anyway. However, I will usually reset bad Attack (less than 55), Special Attack (<43) or Speed (<43). It also helps to have a nature that purifies without wasting time calling Croconaw out of Hyper Mode (about 60% of them).

  18. Q: How do you know your IVs so quickly?
  19. A: If Espeon passes the eye test of 80+ Sp. Attack, I'll plug its stats, nature and trainer ID into a program, which will show me its IVs and Hidden Power. This works for Croconaw as well, although sometimes I can't know my nature right away and will need to figure it out by observing its purification. Credit to Dabomstew for the program, and to gifvex and punyta for their initial work.

  21. Q: Any new time saves?
  22. A: Yes, about 2-3 minutes worth. Another runner named Thurler recently found a glitch that allows you to essentially adopt Gen 5 double mechanics for X items. This glitch saves time in about a dozen fights and makes hard fights much more consistent. Type !newglitch in chat for more info.
  23.
  24. Q: What is your goal time?
  25. A: I don't know yet, but I can definitely beat my PB by 2+ minutes. I'm guessing an optimal time would be 3:40 or lower.
