  1. Lalia Darkbird Times were changing, it hasn't been the same for a while, and the land was going to be engulfed soon enough, but there was still a small spark of hope left. In the form of a young princess, who was completely spoiled over the top by her father, but taught wisdom and etiquette, how to be wiser than men as well. Not that her mother and father didn't love each other, it was more that her mother found him to be so brazen and brash. Soon enough though things started to get to badly, with the approval of Lalia's father, her mother took her deep into their magical forest. "Listen child, things are too dangerous here for you, but I'm going to be sending you to somewhere that will be safe, but you won't remember who you are until you need to" the voice echoed. Before the young woman could get a word in something was shoved into her hands and then she was falling? Why was she falling and as time went she couldn't remember much other than adoring her name and shopping? Then with a hard thud she landed on her back against the cold cold ground. The wind being knocked out of her as she tried to take her first breath in this new world she was in. All memories, but a small handful remained and she couldn't understand what was going on. After a few slow deep breaths, the woman with white locks began to move about, adored in a beautiful white almost matching the winter wonderland dress. Her bluish brown eyes began to look all around, unable to recognize anything at all, but she knew she was somewhere new, though everything looked dead. It was a feeling if sadness as she walked around a bit more, in the middle of a forest in the middle of no where. "Well...it could be worse right?" She offered to trying and cheer herself up, but it lasted not so long as she felt fresh flakes fall against her cheeks and hair. Meanwhile, sending her child off her mother would go to seal herself away as well, while on the other hand, Lalia's father went to secure a honest protector for her, she was no where near coming into her fully abilities yet. This was a reason he sought after Thom, but alas he had indeed grown to old for the task, but suggesting that Rhet do it, now that made this a bit easier, at least she would be safe and protected at all times, maybe even figure out how to love others and unlock her hidden potential. So he simply gave he a good chuck of change in two and half bags of nice hefty gold, and reminded him that he needed to try to make it last as long as possible. A map of the area she was 'dropped' off in, as well as to know exactly who's she is, to check for the purple and red butterfly marking, and left him at that as he was needed into battle as people getting over ran and anymore time dealing with this, lives were being taken and off he went to leave Rhet to figure out the rest on his own.

  3. Rhet Rhet was tired and simply wanted to go home and sleep for Gods know when. He deserved it, having been away from home for so long. Firstly though, he was going to get paid. The man had stored quite a heft some himself and gave a quarter of whatever he got to Thom. The old man was considered family in his eyes, well, more than considered. He was his father and no one could say boo about it. He had always been there for him no matter what he put his Da through. Never gave up on him once and had the patience of a saint. Looking back, Rhet knew he was quite the handful and would never wish it upon his worse enemy. How many times had he scratched and bit the man? How many times did he tore through the house and land outside? The barn needed to be patched up once and the animals replaced...My, he never wanted to do that again. How terrible he was as a child, worse as as teen. Thankfully he 'grew' out of it, with help of course. Trial and error on both ends. So, paid, home, sleep, bathe...sleep some more. Sounded like a plan. Food may be tossed in there somewhere, but he'd get to that when the time came. So for most of the trip back he rode upon a white and blue horse like creature. His steed didn't mind how he leaned against her and would make some kind of sound or movement when he drifted too far. She didn't want him falling off, despite it not hurting him much. Once they arrived home, Rhet slipped off and trudged towards the door. Oh, if only he had waited a few more days, maybe he could have missed this. He would enter as planned, beelining straight to bed, like he planned, until he was intercepted with a double helping of honey comb. Thom only used those when Rhet was in a bad mood. Just one would make him happy enough, so why were there two? He would take the first one and stick the end of it in his mouth before looking upon their guest. Already he could see trouble brewing. His dark gaze went back to his Da then to the man and back. And so it would begin, his next task before he could even lay his head down. A king, as the stranger claimed and Thom confirmed, needed protection for his daughter. Rhet was to be a glorified babysitter, which was something he wasn't too eager to accept. Despite being an adult and could now make his own choices...He would... 'accept' the job. Thom knew how to get to him and if he wouldn't do it, his Da could...go off in his feeble state and protect the princess. He might get hurt along the way, might even die, but at least he'd get the job done. Guilt trip always worked on Rhet. All he asked was for at least an hour of sleep. He was granted that little luxury and when he woke his provisions and the like were already made up. Once more he and his steed were on the road and following the map. It did take quite a bit longer than he expected, going by this...Mystery mark. OK maybe he was wasting just a hair more time than he should of. A bit of defiance against being forced into this situation. He did pride himself in getting tasks done, but mainly when he WANTED to. Each job was something HE chose and that had given him a bit of a reputation. His mount seemed to push at him to hurry up and Rhet finally got serious. The search wouldn't take long and took them from any populated villages. It was out in the middle of nowhere he'd find the girl. The man had dismounted and went further in on foot. Now, he could have been more kind in this situation, seeing as it was his own annoyance that guided his actions rather than letting it go. He was quiet in his steps, nearly invisible by most standards. As soon as she was within his sights, he mumbled something, rose his hand and flipped it palm down. Lalia would feel a large, invisible grip take hold, raise her in the air and tip her upside down. She'd be turn about as he searched for this butterfly mark. He would still keep somewhat out of sight himself, or so he thought.

  5. Lalia Darkbird The mind of hers felt as if it was in a huge fog, as if she was missing something very important, but couldn't exactly remember what it was, or even how she got here. Where ever here was exactly, there seemed to be little to no life around for miles as the eye could see, just white and and mostly dead looking trees. Her small bare feet were gently walking on the cold ground and it wasn't the nicest feeling in the world. Somehow she knew that she needed to get the covered soon, otherwise she may get very sick and be unwell for quite a while. It was a strange feeling, to know something, but unable to figure out how she knew it, maybe she slipped and hit her head somewhere and got left here? But that just seemed to frighten her a bit, feeling a cold breeze against her bare shoulders and back she would shiver a bit and wrap her arms around herself. Giving her arms a slight warming rub as she shiver and exhaled seeing her breath, how does one get out of a place like this? She wished she could just fly and flutter away from here, but she didn't exactly know that was a true possibility at least not as of yet anyways. Feeling the snow crunching slightly as she moved along in the snow feeling her large fluffy white gown lightly flow all around her and the beautiful deep golden skin color of hers, it would seem to slightly shimmer in the moon light as she shifted and began to head towards a direction. Unknowingly there was a cliff near by in that direction she chose, but about half way towards it, suddenly she took to fright! A scream left her rosy pink lips as she was turned upside down and her dress slipping way to far up as she desperately attempted to pull her dress back upwards to cover her bare body underneath it. There as she wiggled and attempted to get free from whatever was holding her, her long white locks seemed to dangle right below her head, it would be easy to see for a split second that purple and red butterfly mark against the back of her neck. Suddenly she attempted to curl upwards towards her feet as if she was doing crunches. That was when she spotted HIM! It had to be his doing! There was no one else around out here! "You! Horrible man! Put me down now! It's impolite to just turn a lady upside down and show everything under her dress!" She shrieked out at him as she continued to do her best to hide herself while her face flushed and turned deep crimson red.

  7. Rhet Treating this poor girl like this, was so unprofessional. He could picture his Da's face if he had witnessed this. This was an abuse in his magic and surely he'd get his hand slapped for it. The action however did produce what he needed...His sight did drift over everything, in the briefest, uninterested way. He was just looking for the mark and would put her down right afterwards. Her screaming didn't bother him one bit, for he's heard a variety of those over the years. It's sad that Rhet's nearly become numb to them. He had come to the decision long ago that not everyone could be saved no matter how hard he tried. Even Thom had told him that when he came home. He knew his 'son' like the bad of his hand by now. No matter if he could hide it, his Da would get him to talk. Once her hair parted from her neck, he spotted the elusive insect and that was enough. Rhet's hand started to turn again, aiding in tilting her upright again as she spotted and yelled at him. He couldn't help a smirk crossing over his face when she called him 'horrible'. He could be, really, but only left that for those that truly deserved it, being man or beast. He would still let her hover, his fingers moving here and there and her dress would straighten out. It probably didn't help the situation any that a complete stranger was fussing with her dress. "You're fine ma'am." He finally spoke and set her gently down. Magic like that didn't drain him thankfully, though it probably should as a punishment. Rhet brushed his hands together and started approaching her. "I was hired to keep you out of trouble." He started. No way was he going to mention by WHO, not yet anyway. It wasn't like he was afraid of her father, but she might report his actions and through the grapevine, would inform HIS father.

  9. Lalia Darkbird Who did he think he was! How dare he even think of doing this! When she got down she was going to give him a piece of her mind! This was for sure! Maybe even a good slap to the face! The reason for her yelling and anger was rightly so, does no one around here have any manners at all??? It was embarrassing and humiliating all the same time, despite there isn't really seeming to be around, but the two of them. It felt very violating to! This man was someone she already wanted nothing to do with! Besides she had to figure out who she was and where she belonged, this place was strange with men just turning woman upside down and peering at them! She just wishes she could find somewhere safe to just be alone at to think and try and figure this out as she continued to hold her dress as far from prying eyes as possible. Her own mind at this point was just a blank slate almost, save for a couple of small pieces that were lightly fluttering around her, name, and she adored clothing and a small fuzzy picture of what she could only assume was her mother. That was it, this place she was at was something she didn't recognize, but finally she was being righted up again, and she seen a smirk on his face and she glared at him deeply. "Stop touching it!" She scolded as she was fussing wanting to be put down, this was just so strange! All of it! "I am not fine! You rude peering eyed creep!" She yelled out more. "I have no clue what your even talking about! But you can just go back from where you came from!" She yelled more at him as she turned to walk away from the approaching man. She didn't believe a word he would say at this point, in her mind he was just some crazy creep, not sure why he'd be out here to look for woman creeped on! But still she wasn't having of this, on time for this! She had to get to where belonged though having no idea where that was at exactly, but she needed to figure it out.

  13. Rhet It did appear Rhet still had more to learn. His interaction with people tended to be subpar, which may be why he chose tasks pertaining to the more monster type. At least then there wasn’t something expected of him besides being an attacker. The only time he seemed to show sympathy though, was when his target submitted to him. That also depended on how much of a pain the target was. If it was just scared because he was there and chanced still being a pest…Well, it was a judgement call on his part. Thankfully, most were just as eager to rip him to shreds as he was to doing the same to them. Funny thing was, afterwards getting paid was the hardest. He would get some praise, which was fine, but hardly ever responded to it. Or he would get questions on how it was done and the like. Regardless of that being a rule of his, people still asked. It was no skin off his nose not to answer. He would just offer his hand for his reward and be on his way. Home was the only welcoming thing to Rhet, yet he was always restless. He couldn’t sit in one place for too long. Was it the bear side of him that caused it? Probably not, because even in winter he didn’t rest. Could be the human side of him on that part. He tried not to decipher himself too much, though had the time now and then to do so. He didn’t like most of what he came up with and his Da didn’t help things either. When he asked as a child what he was, Thom had only said ‘special’. Which was a broad range of things. Later he’d ask again and get a pat on the head with pretty much the same answer. Twice had been enough in Rhet’s opinion and so he stopped. The slap she was planning was well deserved, though it may make the situation worse. He was perfectly fine with her disliking him, it wasn’t like he was out to impress. His task was to keep her protected and that’s it. Her scold just amused him further, but he didn’t smile any further than the first smirk. “Just making sure your slip doesn’t show anywhere.” Yes, they were pretty much alone out here, but if they traveled to a more populated area, how appalled would she feel if a spot was missed? Peering eyed creep, that was a new one. “Unfortunately, I can’t do that. Not until my employer tells me otherwise. Which isn’t any time soon.” He emphasized. Regardless of her turning and walking away, she would hear his following steps now. Rhet was watching the back of her, studying her in those few moments and figuring out just how much trouble would she be. So far, she just seemed clueless. Seriously, what was she doing out here all alone? Traveling came to mind, maybe eluding danger until he came along. The woods had their own share of trouble too, but at the current moment he didn’t sense anything lurking about.
  14.
  15. Lalia Darkbird This couldn't of been any worse than a night than she thought was already going on, she had already had it with being out in the woods alone, no idea where she came from or where she belonged. It was starting to give her quite the headache, and this idiot who ever he was, already was on her bad side for just looking at everything! She wasn't sure which was worse, him looking at her or his annoyance of saying he HAS to protect her! Ha! This whole thing was almost laughable, and she wasn't having a single ounce of this, if she could find where she belonged then she could just get far away from this creep of a person. Meanwhile her father and mother would hope that she would be as safe as possible with the young Rhet, "you pulled her memories correct?" Her father asked his wife, with a nod of her head she would look at him "All, but her name, desire for shopping and a slight, but very blurry image of myself, so the yearning to find us again will take hold" she told him. "Mm good then, off to the secret hold with you then, can't have my queen caught up in this fighting, and someone needs to explain everything to her" he spoke and shuffled her off so he could fight without any restrictions or either of them hindering him, or they be used to get him to submit to the nasty gooish black creature. Lalia though was sure she was stubborn, it showed already, but also smart and wise, possibly quick thinker on her feet in tight situations. "Oh! NOW you care! Oh how chivalrous you are!" Sarcasm dripped from her lips, as if it was a cloven tongue of fire. She did have a bit of a fiery spunk to her. "Oh wait! I must be in the wrong dreamland! Because there is nothing that says you do!" She snapped back at him. Hearing his footsteps continuing to follow her was driving her up a wall. He was a creep, and had no right, she didn't give a flying fuck who he was, or what he thought he had to do it was all a ruse or hogwash in her mind. "You are a delusional prick! You and your employer! Just go away and leave me alone!" She snapped out more at him as she turned and slapped his face before she quickly picked up her skirt and started to run from him. It was very clear that she didn't even seem to know in the least bit who she was, or the fact that she was the princess to the butterfly world. Or even the fact she actually had abilities, all she wanted was away from this man, he was not someone she knew or really wanted to know. The fear was setting in, what if he was just using this for wanting something more! There were creeps out there like that, she wouldn't be any man's woman, or wife, or anything degrading like that! No getting far away from him as possible was needed! She couldn't let him get his hands on her, while she felt her heart racing quite a bit.
  16.
  17. Rhet Well, no matter how far she ran, he would follow her. If Rhet could, he’d just let the woman go and return home. Unfortunately, he didn’t live alone. He would never wish any ill will towards Thom of course, his Da meant the world to him. If anyone was to use something against Rhet, it would be the old man. It would also be the last mistake said person would ever do. His father was truly his rock, but also the chain that kept his bear side at bay. Without him, who knew where Rhet would be right now. So no, he couldn’t return home, not without the gaze of disappointment upon him. Even if he lied, his Da would know. There were telltale signs, most of all the lack of eye contact or too much of it. There were other indicators as well, but Rhet didn’t know what. There was no escaping the man and any attempts were futile. With that in mind, he would reluctantly keep pace with her. There was no to very little pang of guilt from what he did earlier. It was in the past and he wouldn’t bring it up again. Embarrassment was something that didn’t settle with him as well. He could wander the streets naked and would feel something closer to anger than anything else. Thom managed to put a stop to that before Rhet got too far into his teenage years. It was hard to break certain habits, but the old man did it! Her responses were justified, he at least knew this. She was just angry and was fine with no socializing. He’ll just stay near and make sure nothing tries to kill her. Speaking of which, there still wasn’t a single thing following them. Again, middle of nowhere tended to be the safest places. Just got to survive the elements and whatnot vs something living/undead. “Don’t make this any harder.” He stated. If she were to, what would he do? Maybe something worse than the dress thing? He was known to be brash and could easily conjure up a rope and gag if he needed to. During his travels he’s learned various paths and could dodge the populace. No one would be around to help her, and she’d be ‘safe’. That was the last thing he wanted to do though. The slap came out of the blue, which truly meant she didn’t know a thing. It was either that or she was MAD and now he was stuck babysitting a crazy person! Though he wasn’t super famous or anything, those that knew of him, even by rumor, knew better than to strike first. Not unless they were WELL armed. Death was usually his response or beaten within an inch of life. The latter allowed suffering though and Rhet preferred to be quick. A growl escaped him, and he could feel his fangs elongate some. He’d run his tongue over the edge, tasting his own blood as he nicked it. He would give her a head start as it was best right now to ‘cool down’. His eyes grew dark for a second then returned to a more normal brown. He deserved it, and that reminder alone was truly what saved her. His job, the disapproving look from Da, all on the backburner of excuses. Her footfalls, her breathing, the rustling of fabric against ground and brush, her racing heart, everything was heard clearly as he gave chase. Everything, including how the wind changed around the upcoming cliff. His brows furrowed as he continued to run. “Tia!” He commanded. A white and blue pipe fox looking creature appeared from a satchel and floated alongside him. “Stop her.” The small creature took off without hesitation, flying through the air and catching up with Lalia. She would try to get the woman to stop or at least turn around. Of course with that ‘delusional creep’ right behind her, heading back was the last option!
  18.
  19. Lalia Darkbird Lalia was running as fast as her short legs and small feet would carry her, this was not a place she particularly enjoyed being at, and trying to fend off some creep at least that was how she viewed things at this point. She couldn't help it! She was scared and panicking two options that were either keep running or being captured by this horrible man! So keeping running was the ideal option, at least until he got to close to her once again! No matter of talking about keeping her safe was going to sway her into willingly going with him! His actions on the other hand to her had proven anything, but what he was saying was true! Where was home she just wanted to go home, and feel safe and protected again, this though he wasn't anything of the sort. Then she turned and slapped him quite hard for a butterfly princess. There seemed to be potentially more power hidden inside of her, that she hadn't a clue was even there, much less anything else. She was lost in her heart and mind as well as physically, she seemed to have no idea of the nearing danger of the cliff or the fact that this man, Rhet was anything more than a creep man! She just kept running, as if trying to find and escaped to where she belonged, did she have a father or a mother? Did she even have anyone that was missing her or cared about her. Rhet couldn't exactly expect her to want to go willingly after all he didn't even bother really trying to explain anything to her in the slightest, so a slap and running was the only idea she had at the time. With being in the middle of what seemed to be no where this was all she had. At the same time she was getting weaker, unknowingly as she was getting colder by the minute the more it drained her energy, she was delicate just like the butterfly as well. It was something she couldn't understand as her breath grew more labored, that was at least until she felt something fuzzy wrap around her it was warm.Though she heard Rhet shouting something out she couldn't exactly hear it as she was running to hard, and her heart was pounding in her ears. Just as tears were leaving her eyes, but the creature managed to stop her a few inches before the edge of the cliff. But at the wrapping of the white and blue foxy looking creature caused her to face plant right into the snow, making the poor woman shiver deeply. A small cough came from Lalia, she almost seemed to be getting slightly ill. Warmth and food would of been nice for her right now, but she had to contend with these two right now and wanted to just get away and be left alone to find out where she belonged.
  20.
  21. Rhet He sensed the change, something was different…Not in him, but in HER. He was used to the cold, used to the heat as well, but even he had limits. This weather was nothing to him as he trudged along and waited for Tia to stop the frantic woman. She reminded him of a deer or rabbit, racing away on pure instinct and the will to survive. Racing, and not being aware of their surroundings. This was so stupid, she was taking this way too far! Yet, how easily he forgot he had been in the same boat once. Anything before Da was a mystery, one he didn’t prod either. It wasn’t a good idea to dig, for he risked uncovering something that he couldn’t bury again. Besides, he had other more pressing things to attend to. Like making sure this damn woman didn’t go over! Oh, he could picture this now; So what happened? Well she fell off a cliff. How did that happen? I don’t know, she just ran from me! Instant dad face. OK he might have scared her…More intense look. Ok, he DID scare her. How? Yeah, definitely avoiding all that! Tia had changed in size, becoming the ‘rope’ that Rhet needed and wrapped her furry, serpentine body around Lalia. The creature’s fox like head tipped up at the princess, giving a hiss of warning as she clenched to make sure her ‘captive’ was pinned right. Surely so, as they both ended up falling to the ground. A startled squeak escaped Tia, but she didn’t loosen her grip. Instead she made more sounds as if ‘scolding’ Laila for falling on her and for not watching where she was going! Rhet would soon catch up to them, barely out of breath as he leaned down. “Hold her.” He reinforced before hoisting Lalia up and over his shoulder like a bag of potatoes. “Good job.” He praised the creature and scratched under her chin. Tia made more happy sounds, knowing she was going to get a treat every time he said that. Rhet could feel how cold Laila was and knew he needed to find a place and start a fire. Tia might have to stay wrapped around her for two reasons: To keep her captive and warmed. “Now, if you’re done…” He trailed as if waiting for Lalia to respond. One way or another he’d have to figure out what to do with her next. Deep down he knew he couldn’t keep the woman tied up forever. Although, her father would understand right? She was a troublesome child and might have needed more rough handling than the norm.
  22.
  23. Lalia Darkbird Cold weather for butterflies in general is pretty bad for them, with their thin little wings, and small tiny bodies, it was a wonder that they even existed at all. Though some of them could go into hibernation, but that was a few rare ones, and in order to do so they would all have to migrate together and get there before snow fell. Even then when they created massive swarm against trees and such, it wasn't guaranteed all of them would survive. Due to general lack of experience in her more supernatural abilities, and now not even remembering the bit she did know how to perform. This would indeed be a bit of a nightmare, and on it with trying to remember how she got here, her head began to hurt more. Though with things going this was her father was surly to lose any semblance of a temper he had if she had fallen off a cliff! With how much he paid him, plus the fact there was more to come if he could follow through with the entire task.Possibly Lalia, that was if he'd be able to understand her at all, and he knew also that was quite the task to-do; girl held so many masks she doesn't realize it all the time. But that warmth feeling of Tia's fur. Did feel nice for a moment, oh how she wanted to lose herself in that moment, she remembered why she was running in the first place. Lifting her face it was just covered in a mask of snow as she spat it out and shook her head free at the hissing of the creature. She dare scold her, for falling!?!! On her seriously!?!?! This creature got a look that one would might even rival that of a crazy momma bear about to rip someone's limbs off. As if she only knew what was going on, the creature would easily blame it's crazy weirdo, creep of a master was!! But slightly shivered as the Wind blue, why did she get so cold, she never remembered feeling like this, but why now? Ugh this was so hard to deal with she would wiggle attempting to get free as tears stung her eyes.Yep, this was the end of her! She didn't even get to find out if anyone would miss her! Or who they were or what not a single thread. Suddenly she was being lifted up and that was about the time she just freaked out! There was no way she was going with this man! "No!! Your a creepy peeking crazy pervert man! I'm not going anywhere with you!!" She yelled out and then it happened part of her arm just broke off into butterflies. Yes, this was beyond weird and strange and it sent her jerking as she freaked out at such a sudden sight of herself. She would easily send all three of them tumbling right backwards over the cliff. Yep now it was going to be all of their ends of lives! Free falling down such a steep cliff side caused Lalia to scream, and try then to cling to flying is foxy creature whatever it was, maybe it wouldn't let them all die!
  24.
  25. Lalia Darkbird The coldness could take over and she would feel safer than being taken by Rhet, he was a creepy man, there was so many other ways he could of gone about things differently! Yet the idiot just turns a woman upside down showing all her goods to his eyes and the barren world, to only spout things that didn't even make sense or attempt to calmly and rationally explain them to her at all. Of course half of it would of sounded like nonsense to her anyways, only because Lalia didn't even have the faintest clue of who she was, where she came from, why she was wondering around alone, or even if anyone was looking for her at all. Then to man handle her like that! Absolutely not! She may have not known she was a Princess, but she did know she would never tolerate anyone treating her like a damn sack of potatoes to just carry around all brutish like! But alas she finally had gotten away, to only sub come to the extreme cold, she hated every single bit of her night, it was for the birds for all she cared about. Plus, she had been completely freaked out and that small fluffy creature getting mad at her for falling on her? Ha! It was it's own damn fault for wrapping around her completely while in the mid-action of running away from the idiot trying to keep her captive! If she never saw his face again she would be more than happy to sing until her heart was content! But this was not what the fates that seemed to have in play for the young woman, as she knew not of the newest member to join in our their bit of fun they were having, or that Rhet had allowed her to come along. Her body slowed a bit at the shivering of the warmth of the roots swirling around her, alternating between themselves of which one was warmer to keep circulating heat. It was enough to make the dried looking woodness of her feat to retreat back down her feet and to her toes so they seemed more human in nature. The flower princess was the only thing standing between her world, and this one being over ran by that gooy horrid slime creature, which seemed to have radiation that poor off of itself or anyone or thing that was touched would either die or be turned into something similar. But as Rhet and Ellie approached the roots seemed to gently move out of their way as if some how they knew she was going to be safest with Rhet. Rather instead reproving his hands about touching them with a slight smack as if to also say to protect her much more than he was. They soon retreated right back under the ground as Lalia laid almost in a peaceful state. Her skin shine like the snow, as if it was porcelain with a small if any tinted light pink color to her cheeks, much less than before. Her long locks seemed to change from their usual deep creamy brown, to a dark blackish coal color. Her dress though it remained untouched even by the dirt, there wasn't even a smudge of filth on the girl, nor a hair out of place.
  26.
  27. Ellie The girl blinked softly as she moved forward with Rhet approaching the woman. But she was letting him take the lead. She had no idea who the woman was or why Rhet had been so eager to hunt her down. The man had mentioned something about how he was hired to protect her, or something. Rhet could have been lying but...She just wasn't sure. As Rhet moved to one side of the woman she would move to the other. Turns out he hadn't even needed to claw the roots off and they slapped him for attempting. But what caught her attention even more was after the roots moved away and it was possible to see Lalia clearly. The woman was incredibly beautiful. The way her smooth skin, hair, and the rest of her appearance almost brought to Ellie's mind what perhaps an angel might look like, were they real. Something she didn't actually believe in. But the image of this woman reminded her of the images that they associated with them, minus of course the wings. Honey-gold hues were staring as she had moved to kneel down. Then she rested on her knees in the snow. A little shiver went through body at her skin touching the cold snow through the holes in her jeans. After a moment more of watching the woman she would lift hues to Rhet right across from her on the other side of the woman. "So...She's the one you're supposed to protect? Who is she...? Wait, nevermind." Just as quickly she stood to feet in the snow while peering down at her and the kneeling Rhet. "Come on! We gotta get her out of this snow and the cold! She might freeze to death, and if she does, then your job would fail, right?" After saying this she looked up and about a bit. The wind had started to pick up, whipping more. Even though the girl was still just a young adult herself, she suddenly looked somewhat...Mystical...With that calm, serious look upon her face as long hair and tail billowed around her form like regal banners. When this was happening it was easier to see how insanely long her hair was, exceeding past even her butt. Those optics returned to Rhet. "I think there's a snow storm coming! Rhet, we can take her to my house in Rowan Lakes, okay? You can come too! I have a fireplace, I can make us some hot cocoa! Please! I don't want either of you to freeze to death!"
  28.
  29. Rhet His hand froze after he was slapped. It remained poised for a few seconds, as if in surprise...Or he was about to strike back. The latter wouldn't come as the roots parted ways and revealed the treasure beneath. Such a beauty to most, but as he stared at her...All he saw was a burden, a pain in the ass...Something akin to him...He wasn't in any rush to pick Lalia up, but he was fully aware that he couldn't just leave her there. Ellie made sure of that too as she reminded him with her question. His gaze flicked to the discolored skin that meshed with the pale coloration. Curious...Tia would make a small noise at him and he'd shift a bit to lean and pick her up. This time, Lalia wouldn't be handled like a sack of potatoes. She'd be held almost like a baby. He'd easily rise to his feet and turn away when the wind started to pick up. A grunt/grumble escaped him before he chanced looking to Ellie. "Don't worry about me. Lead the way." He tipped his head, indicating her to go. He wasn't dressed any better for this weather, but could handle it alot better than Lalia could. "Tia." He said and the creature would wrap around the princess, placing her closer against him. Rhet murmured something and increased his body heat. He'd wait for Ellie to guide then before he started walking after her. "Stay near me if you're cold." He offered. The man could increase the heat further if he had to. Luckily he wouldn't have to worry about setting anything ablaze.
  30.
  31. Lalia Darkbird The roots seemed to want to keep her safe until the two of them arrived, but would mot be tolerated to be yanked upon or torn at, as it was their most vital part to sustain themselves, yet for her sake they exposed themselves. Lalia though was anything, but an angel, but she was something fore sure. Flower princess even though she had no idea what this meant, as a way to ensure extra safety her mother wiped her mind of being anything of the sort. This in turn though caused her to have not much of a clue of who she was as a person in general without the extra of being a princess or powers being possible. She hadn't even a chance to look into the mirror to know if she found herself beautiful, much less anyone else, and all that seemed to be was an endless void of slow deep sleep. Her heart rate had lowered a bit more, just as Rhet decided to scoop her up, but thankfully not like a potato sack. She could feel the warmth of Tia wrap right around her as she shivered with the chilly air increasing about them. Though her first instinct wasn't to yank away, as mostly her subconscious mind wanted to feel the warmth coming off of Rhet. Instead she moved closer as if almost snuggling into him as if he was the best warm blanket around. She would stir a bit more, yet remain in her hibernation state, though her heart rate did seem to pick up a bit more as the warmth seemed to engulf her. What no one knew was the map that Lalia's father had given Rhet there was a small warm yellowish glow that seemed to come from it and stop, whenever Rhet would get the chance to look at it, it would be changed, so much so instead it would become like a giant riddle they would have to spend time trying to solve. Bit by bit and piece by piece would Lalia ever have hope to gain her memories back at all.
  32.
  33. Ellie Although Ellie didn't know it right at this moment, her and Lalia both were not too much different from each. She didn't know what she was, either. But to be honest? The fox girl felt much too happy about how things were for her now with all her friends and in this nice, quiet little town. So much so that she had found herself becoming patient and giving it time. After all, sooner or later her own true nature would be discovered. Unfortunately she still had all her memories which were of the orphanage she had been at since a baby and had only just escaped a few months ago. But that didn't mean she was someone with parents and some kind of heritage. Ellie was, however, more focused on helping Rhet and his charge at the moment though. Upon feeling that warmth radiating she dropped back next to him for a second with a little shiver, letting out a happy little content groan at feeling the warmth. She had no idea how he was doing that, but it felt wonderful. The biggest disadvantage of this form, she lacked her natural winter coat. But it wouldn't have been a good idea to revert to a red fox with this storm coming and the snow piling up more. It would only make it that much harder on Rhet to follow her and somehow she felt quite an urgency to get the other female to true warmth as soon as possible. After warming herself, she nodded and stepped forward. "Alright! Come on Rhet, this way!" It should have been quite clear to him now that this girl was definitely no enemy or threat to either him or the lady in his arms. It was even a wonder how nice she was and willing to help despite the cruelty and torture of the nuns and other children she had endured so many years of her life. Maybe it was because all the friends she was making and this town she was in were helping her to realize she shouldn't fall into that circle herself. Maybe it wouldn't always be like this. Rowan Lakes did seem to be a hot bed of activity for supernatural beings, after all. But no matter, that was a bridge to cross if it came. So were the thoughts that always swam around in Ellie's head, jumping from one to the next. But at this moment her attention was razor focused on getting them all to warmth, especially the woman Rhet carried. Luckily the snow storm wasn't too super bad yet, just a lot of wind and some snow as they made their way back in town. She led them to Elm Road before making her way toward a row of some houses. Proudly Ellie pointing to a beautiful mid-sized, two floor house. The Christmas decorations were all still there, lights on house, a tree seen through the window, and bunches of snowmen, deer, and such setup in the yard. But the wind had knocked over and around a lot of the decorations in her yard. "There, that one! Come on, Rhet!" Hurrying across the street to the porch, she fished out her key to put it in and unlock the door. The door swung open for it and she leaped inside to escape the cold snow air!
  34.
  35. Rhet Once Ellie had warmed up enough, he'd start to trudge after her. Rhet curled his body a bit over Lalia as if helping to keep her warm. It really wasn't needed, but that protectiveness was starting to take hold for now. Between him and Tia, she shouldn't freeze to death. He could feel her moving against him, snuggling in closer as if trying to steal all the warmth. He'd murmur again, increasing the heat once more before keeping his gaze on Ellie's back so not to lose her. It wasn't like he could. If she had gone ahead, he would have just followed her tracks. Should the snow bury it somehow, he still had other senses to aid him. By the looks of things, the latter wouldn't be needed. As he continued walking, he was trying to figure out why Ellie was being so helpful. It could be a trap...But how could it? They've never been here before and this person didn't know them. Besides the pay the king gave him, there really wasn't anything to steal off them...Maybe? His effort in suspicion should be placed elsewhere, for Ellie had done nothing but helped them. For now he'd play along, at least until he got a better feel of their situation. This would go from first time in the woods, to first time in town...Or close to it. He was looking at everything and how different...Yet familiar the structures were. So...Maybe they weren't all different here? His steps suddenly hesitated when he saw the house. All those lights and decorations. How could that be? Magic, the woman knew magic. That was the only thing to explain what he saw. He may ask about that once everything was settled. The tree inside held the same theme as the items out. Yet another enchanted thing...He'd focus on that later as they made it up the steps and onto the porch. Once inside, he would get Tia to release Lalia and he'd set her on a nearby couch. "She's still alive." He observed before taking a step back and looking Ellie. "Thank you for leading us here."
  36.
  37. Lalia Darkbird Soon enough there was more warmth, so much more, she was feeling happy, maybe she should find a way to thank the one for this feeling, but yet not know it was Rhet the ONE person she was going to freak out on! She seemed to just rest and sleep the entire walk towards Ellie's house, so the amazement of what was going on with the lights. Though it would possible be a good distraction, as when she wakes up she will freak out, and feel so many emotions even with the attempts to get as far away from Rhet as possible. But the warmth was something she preferred at the moment to anything else going on around her, the cold exhausted her quite a bit and she wanted to regain as much strength as possible. Even her shivering seemed to stop as she felt the heat just increase, and with Tia wrapped around her she felt as if she was in the most soft heated blanket.Soon enough she would feel the movements start to pace up a bit, before eventually she felt them stop moving, and something else was against her back, and it was that much more warmer. It was soft and quite comfortable, she would want to stay right here, this place was hers now, yep! It already started, she desperately wanted this thing! It would be hers. And no one would tell her NO, at least on this anyways. She would finally start to stir after a few minutes, her icey blue eyes would slowly open. Everything was a bit blurry at first as the room came into focus a bit it sounded like voices? She would blink a few times before her eyes roamed around first spotting Ellie, then her eyes drifted over Tia and Rhet. That's when anger boiled! And she was about to lose it, she just wanted away from this creepy man! Why??? She's beginning to feel as if she's being punished for something! She jumped up so quickly she grew a bit dizzy and woozy as she stumbled a bit and knocked against an end table. As she attempted to get far far away from Rhet "you creepy bastard!" She yelled "why the blazes in heaven won't you go away! Don't you think you've done enough damage! And you tried to kidnap me!" She shrieked out. Though she wasn't standing upright to well, she felt extremely thirsty as if she really needed some water, but she was just trying to keep the man far away from her, and looking for an exit from this situation!
  38.
  53. Ellie The fox girl had waited until he lumbered in with her and entered the house. Once they were inside she pushed the door closed and locked it before turning about to peer to the two. Any suspicions Rhet had were completely unfounded in this house whether he saw that or not. It was far from the trap that he had allowed himself to ponder on whether he might run into. Still decorated to the brim with Christmas decorations and a tree standing that was just as decked out, the house showed no kind of signs of being an evil lair. In fact, it was quite the opposite. It was very warm and inviting. As he made his way straight to her couch and set her down, Ellie was taking off her leather jacket and hanging it up, revealing the zippered sweater shirt beneath. Slipping her hand into the jacket she pulled out a regal and ancient looking silver dagger that was etched with some kind of strange runes and almost seemed to glow. It would be placed over on a desk where her fox backpack was leaned against. On the desk was a closed MSI laptop, a huge old looking book next to it with no title on the front. She had also pulled out a huge wad of cash from her jacket, setting it with all the stuff on her desk. At the commotion of Lalia, she turned around with wide eyes to look, just in time to see Rhet pull her back down again where she passed out. "Okay! Make yourself at home Rhet while I go get things ready!" With that the fox girl was off! She hummed softly as she disappeared. Appearing moments later, she threw a large beautiful blanket over Lalia on the couch. There was another couch and several seats as well in the living room. Moving over to the fireplace she would put some logs on and fiddle with it as Cyrill had showed her until soon a fire roared in the fireplace, the tree semi close to it but protected from two glass doors folded over the fire. Disappearing again and last but not least, she would soon slip out back to them, holding two saucers with cups. Each cup had hot cocoa, the saucer containing a few mint cookies. A big smile was spread over lips as she held one out to Rhet. "I have more if you want it and for...Her, when she wakes up." He had never told her Lalia's name, the reason for her slight stutter. She would sit carefully on a seat, placing her saucer in her lap and picking up the cup with both hands. Mmmm, hot cocoa, one of her absolute favorites. "Is there anything else you need, Rhet?"
  54.
  55. Rhet "For the love of the Gods, not this again." Not now, Rhet didn't feel like dealing with it. Later, when she was more rested, would Lalia be able to give him a piece of her mind. Especially with what he did next. Another murmured round of words and the princess would be put back into slumber. His movement so quick that she wouldn't know what hit her. It may have been she simply passed out again. He would catch her and put his charge back on the couch. He would then direct Tia to take care of the princess while she slept. The fox like serpent...Or was it the other way around? Either or, would slid off him and rest upon Lalia. All the warmth the princess would want, right there for her to comfortably sleep with. Rhet sighed and shook his head before looking over at Ellie, then the items she sat down. The dagger in particular gave him goosebumps and he didn't know why. Something was coming off it, but not off the other items. The lights for instance... Maybe it was a different kind of magic? It would make sense. He was unsure by what she meant by 'ready' until he saw the blanket appear. Tia would move so the comfy thing would be laid and then would settle atop it. The creature somewhat burrowed herself amongst the wrinkles and quietly stood 'guard'. Now that Lalia was settled again, he would go back to watching Ellie. The place didn't hold a hint of ill will, which was strange to him. It may be because the only place he could trust was home. Home was where he could let his guard down and not have to be concerned with a damn thing. Home was where he could sleep and know nothing was going to enter their land. His Da was a cautious one too, always with some kind of protective spell going on, just in case. Sometimes Rhet wondered if their home was invisible too. Imagine, being able to do something like that. Simply disappearing and no on would be the wiser. It'd make his jobs alot easier for sure. When Ellie came back a second time, he could smell the mint from the cookies. At least THAT was something familiar, though the items themselves...He'd take the saucer and sniff at the liquid. Chocolate, another thing he was familiar with. A very very rare treat and tended to be more bitter than the sweet he was smelling. As for the cookies, he'd pick one up and look it over. A hesitant bite and the flavors combined wonderfully. "This is good." He commented before tossing one to Tia. She'd happily munch on it and pick at any crumbs left on the blanket. "I'm fine. Thank you for your hospitality." Rhet wouldn't bring up, nor apologize for the scene the princess had created earlier. "Her name is Lalia." He informed her. Other than that, no further information was brought up. Rhet may open up further as the evening went on, but that's all he gave on the woman.

  57. Ellie Even though the runes on the beautiful dagger glowed, nothing seemed to happen from it. At least as it were sitting there on her desk. The fox was a flurry of activity settling the two in. Although her main purpose of bringing them here was to help them, she would be the first one to quickly admit that this was the first time she'd had anyone else in her home and it felt nice. Ever since being over at Roonie's house she had realized just how wonderfully warm and cozy that having others in her house made it feel. They gave it a warmth like it was full of life. The scene was a cozy one now as Lalia was all cozy asleep on the couch under a blanket with Tia on top of her, Rhet in a chair, and the fire crackling and popping in the fireplace. Ellie didn't even bother to turn the lights on, her tree, decorations, and the roaring fire threw out beautiful lights and shadows as the room quickly picked up in a toasty warmth. A soft giggle escaped her lips. "You think so? I'm glad, hot cocoa is one of my favorites and so is mint. And for some reason, they mix incredibly well together. Also, don't even mention it. I'm ever so glad to help you and Lalia! I don't know where you two are from but you're more than welcome to stay at my house while you're here!" She didn't mention the part about her house feeling a lot more warm and full with others in it, but maybe perhaps it showed with the big smile she had while looking at them. Honey-gold hues caught him tossing one of the cookies to Tia who seemed to love it. "She's beautiful, what's her name? She can have some too if she likes them!" She would bend down and place her own saucer down rushing back to her kitchen. When she came back out she approached Tia and kneeled down. Hand would reach out and fingers opened, setting five pieces of mint on the blanket for Tia before her palm and fingers would stroke her gently. "She's fuzzy and warm." Afterwards she lifted to feet and made her way over to her own seat, finally sitting with a relaxed sigh and taking her own saucer back into hands. It rested upon lap where she would eat a cookie then pick up the cup in both hands, lifting it to lips to take a sip. After doing so the cup would lower slightly though staying near her soft lips. Eyes rested upon Rhet and ears perked as she blinked with a little bit more of a calm look across visage now. "So Rhet. I don't want to be too nosy but...What gives with you two? Like how'd you get out there? How'd you survive a fall from a cliff like that? Where'd you two come from?" It seemed that fox girl was just bursting to the absolute brim with curious questions about the two. Indeed she wasn't really trying to be nosy and would cease if asked, but she really did hope that he could indulge her and tell her more about the two of them.
  58.
  59. Rhet He could sense the difference between a happy home and a lonely one. It was...Akin to when he was on the road. Out alone, there was always that inkling at the back of his head. It would go away once he arrived home. Maybe that was the closest he could compare what Ellie had felt? Whatever it was, he didn't dwell long on. Rhet however did like the feel of this place. It wasn't exactly home, but he was comfortable for once. That's not to say his guard was completely down. He always waited for some sort of 'other shoe' to fall. For now he'd give off the appearance of being more relaxed. As he sat in the seat, he'd drink from the cup then look around the place. He did like the lights being cast from various sources. It was one way Da use to get his attention when he was younger. Words would bring his focus back on Ellie. "Thank you. We may stay, at least until she gets better." Although he was already anticipating the headache the princess would cause. Rhet didn't like using magic unless he had to. It tugged and sometimes drained his own energy when used. Only if it was truly needed, that was a promise he had to keep for himself. Onto a different subject, he would answer."Her name's Tia." Being called 'beautiful' got the fox like beast to raise her head a bit. She had this surprised look on her face before settling down again. Being complimented beyond 'good job/girl' wasn't something she was use to. Tia did look like she was in need of pampering, but wasn't about to go off and bug anyone for it. Her job now was to keep Lalia safe and warm. Although the promise of more of those cookies would be a plus. Both would watch their hostess disappear again then return. Five cookies got the creature's tail wagging. She'd look very pleased and made a sound akin to a thank you. Four cookies would belong to her and one was nudged closer to Lalia in case she woke up. Sleep always seemed to help with one's attitude, so she was sure Lalia would be in higher spirits when she woke. "She's a good girl." Rhet commented, which got Tia even more happy. Between being petted, cookies and that compliment, she was in heaven. Her following words got him prepared for the questions. 'Nosy' could mean a whole slew of them. As much as he usually didn't answer such things...It was only polite to indulge her. Ellie had helped them and was still doing so. "I was assigned to protect her." He started. A sigh escaped him before he continued. "I was...Spiteful in my actions when I first met her. Which explains the reaction she had earlier." He wouldn't go into great detail on that. "Like I said before, magic. Lalia was the cause of our fall and I portaled us." He trailed off a moment. "Here...Wherever 'here' is." As for where they came from...He would remain quiet on that one, thinking. "Brumwell." Rhet answered. "It's a small village. Nothing worth looking at." Maybe to assure that if she went looking for the place, it'd be a waste of time. "Don't know where she's from." Indicating Lalia. "Found her wandering the woods alone."
  60.
  61. Lalia Darkbird Rhet, was in more trouble than he knew, or wanted to know. While yes she was the princess from their world, she had no clue about it, and his actions only spurred the young woman more. That saying that 'hell hath no furry like a woman scorned' would be a complete and utter understatement in Lalia's case. Three times in one night he used something strange on her, the word for it had escaped her for magic, but not only that, but took her from her home world, at least there she could try and find where she belonged. In thus world though there was no chance of finding her family, if she at least had one anyways. He just searched every damn inch of her body, with his nasty bare eyes, then had the nerve to try and kidnap her, which he clearly had succeeded in doing. It seemed like quite the bad nightmare she was having on a level that one might think that they were completely crazy, and that they needed to just 'wake up' from, yet it seemed to be not the case.Maybe it really all was swirling in her head, she was warm for the time being, the heat from the fire and blanket with Tia right on top of her kept the young princess warmed. If Rhet thought he had a headache before he sure was about to get a bigger one as soon as she woke up, it would be something he'd never forget. Lalia would stir a bit here and there was if she was dreaming about something more 'dangerous' than what she had considered to be that of Rhet coming after her. In her dream she was trying everything in her power to escape and get away from, but it felt as if this thing was killing her and there may not be a way back from this. She remembered seeing that other lady, Ellie, though names she won't bother to learn at all if Ellie was really going to be HELPING that creep, she would flea all three of them if she absolutely had to and find somewhere to go, until she could get to where she needed to.Soon enough though in their conversation Lalia would shoot up cough as if she couldn't breath, perhaps it was more than just a dream, besides after all sue did turn into freaking flowers! Anything at this point in her mind was possible, well all except Rhet's stupid lies! The coughing wouldn't stop, she needed water more now than she ever had , she was a flower after all, so sunlight, warmth, shade and water along with food were all necessary for sustaining life, even one as delicate as hers.
  62.
  63. Ellie Although she tried not to let it show, a little bit of disappointment peeked into her optics and visage at his words about them only staying until Lalia got better. Well what had she expected, anyway? That they would just stay and live in her house happily ever after? She had realized that she would just have to take really good care of them and enjoy their company until they were to set off again. Tia, what a gorgeous name. She hadn't said this outloud but there was a smile as she peered over at the serpent once more. It was then that Ellie also realized one of the cookies had been left for Lalia when she woke up. That was sweet of her! Now that they were all settled in the two could talk to one another. Once they had struck up conversation and talked a bit, Ellie finally understood for the most part who Rhet was and how they had ended up where they did. He was just as clueless as to who Lalia was though, besides her name. Before long both had finished their hot cocoa and she had gathered up their dishes and taken them off to the kitchen. Upon returning she would be starting to get hot. The zipper of her sweater coat was pulled down until it unlatched and she could pull it off, revealing a thin, cute pink top beneath. After hanging up her sweater shirt carefully on her leather jacket she would then return to her seat from before. Knees pressed together some as she looked over at him, hands now clasped together gently in her lap. She understood a good deal now, including why Lalia had run from him. But there was still one piece of information missing along with something that did not make sense in her head. "So...Who assigned you to protect her? And why does she not know about it? The way you said that like you just found her wandering in the woods seems to contradict the fact that you'd be assigned to protect her. Unless I'm not understanding correctly...?" But unfortunately, this would be where their conversation was cut short. It was in this moment that Lalia would shoot up so suddenly, coughing like she was sick or something. The sudden action scared the life out of her making jump or gasp and possibly Rhet. She knew for damn sure it would have freaked Tia out since she was lying there right on top of her when the woman sputtered to life! Ellie's attention had moved to focus on Lalia's now moving and coughing form. Quickly she pushed herself up from her seat and hurried over, moving closer to her. "Lalia, are you okay?" Without even waiting for answer she turned and headed into the kitchen. Lalia needed water and she was about to get water. Not by Ellie having any knowledge she needed it, of course. It just ironically so happened that it was a commonplace conception that if one was in a coughing fit they most likely needed some water. It wasn't too long before she had rushed back by Lalia's side. Despite the fact that Lalia had a thing against Rhet and maybe against Ellie too for helping him find her, she might not be able to help but notice just how nice and harmless the young adult looked, especially with her cute ears perked and tail wiggling gently. Already she had dropped to knees by the couch side as she was holding out a big, cold glass of fresh water for Lalia. A big smile rested on her lips. "Here! I think you probably need this, you sound like you're choking, Lalia!" The fox girl would use her name, an indicating hint that she must have been sitting and conversing with Rhet for some time before she had awoken on the girl's couch in her house. But as she had noticed she was quite comfy and warm because of Tia, the blanket, and the cozy little fire burning near her Christmas tree. Lalia too, did she take enough of a chance to observe, might also notice how quaint and lovely the decorated picturesque of a living room appeared.
  64.
  65. Rhet Try as she did, he did catch the disappointment. This caused his brows to lightly furrow and he gave a slight tilt of his head. "Were you expecting us to stay longer?" There was that risk of overstaying their welcome, but if Ellie wanted them to remain...He didn't see any harm in it. The house appeared big enough for a variety of people, maybe a decent sized party and it did save them from having to search for different lodgings. Rhet had no clue about this place or even where to begin. Having a native at their side would prove useful. And so long as Lalia was safe...It didn't mean they had to be traveling ALL the time. He knew who assigned him to protect her, as to why Lalia was clueless about it was beyond him. His task was to find her and do his job, nothing more. Yet, there had been more, again out of spite. Rhet wouldn't try anything like that again, at least not on her. His attitude tended to guide his actions way too often and that needed to stop. The sudden combo of sound and movement caught everyone by surprise. Poor Tia made this startled yelp sound and puffed out before racing over to Rhet. She would cross over his shoulders and partly float like an angry serpent. As for the man, he was on his feet, hand on one of his throwing knives. It wasn't pulled from its cover though as he realized it was only Lalia coughing. The thought of maybe still throwing the knife did cross his mind. Such bad thoughts, that needed to stop too! He just didn't want this responsibility, really. He'd rather be off fighting monsters than babysitting someone who clearly hated him. It wasn't hard to just apologize, it was the other's acceptance that was the challenge. One he was sure he wouldn't win any time soon. Rhet wasn't about bow at her beckon call or however that saying went just to show how sorry he was. Words worked well enough. Besides, it may be best for Ellie to be the nursemaid here. She seemed to know what she was doing. He would just step back and stay out of the way.
  66.
  67. Lalia Darkbird Lalia didn't care about a damn thing other than getting the coughing to stop, even though she hadn't forgotten about Rhet and what he did, or the fact that he was probably spreading lies to the woman! In the process of bolting upright Lalia would accidently knock Tia off of her, if not just scare the creature out right, on to the floor of all things. Even that sweet gesture of leaving a cookie for her would ultimately end up on the floor in broken pieces. She swiftly tossed the blanket off of her as a tulle dress tended to get quite hot very swiftly, plus the warmth of the blanket itself and Tia, she was sweating a bit. Though her sweat was usually sticky, almost like she was sweating sap, or nectar instead of salty sweat, her coughing fit continued as Ellie rushed right on over. A dark glare was simply shot at the woman, almost as if she had five heads and it was something the young woman detested quite a bit. Is she okay?? If this wasn't THE most single stupid question she ever heard in her life she didn't know what was! Of course she wasn't okay! Her entire world was a crumbled blurry and hot mess, while she's coughing her head off on another stranger's couch! She didn't even care if the woman 'looked nice' Lalia was in a bad bad mood and would soon enough shriek out why or worse, she hadn't decided yet. Her coughing continued to spue out as she glared deeply at Rhet waiting for the coughing to stop or something, as she didn't know Ellie went to fetch any water. Though as she glared at him her beautiful icey blue hues shifted to a very dark green color, it resembled that of the envy color, but it was pure anger and maybe a bit of hatred. It was his fault for all of this in the first place! Instead of approaching her like a normal person he freaked her out and then some! This would NOT be forgiven or forgotten for a long while and would take a whole lot more to earn her trust even in the slightest of ANYTHING that horrid creep had to say! As soon as Ellie came back with the glass of water she took it and chugged the whole thing down, not even sparing a moment as if she were dying of thirst. That water was gone faster than it took Ellie to go and fetch it as it was exactly what she needed, the reason why wasn't clear of course. Anger though was bubbling and stewing deeply there as she no even bothered to thank the woman. When in normal circumstances she would have, but no not this time, she was clearly pissed off, and at all three of them. Mulling her words over a moment before deciding to say anything. Her voice was sharp and very very pointed."Do you just go about helping every person that you come across, whether or not you know a thing about them?" She asked Ellie, but didn't even bother to wait for a reply as she slightly shoved the glass back into her hands. Before her deep vibrant green eyes shifted over to Rhet "you are a person beyond the lowest parts of even the dirt you walk on! What lies have you been telling this woman huh? Did you mention how you just flipped me upside down, showed my entire body to the world and your eyes just because you could! Then to only spout off some nonsense! Then to only try and kidnap me!?!" She shrieked out as those eyes of hers grew deeper. It was clear that Lalia knew nothing much about herself or how she got to where she was in the woods. "I just wanted to go home!" She shrieked out more, before suddenly a few long and thick vines burst through Ellie's floor and tied Rhet up fairly tightly. "But YOU just had to go and take that away from me!! Or even possibly finding out where I belonged!" More shriek filled words spued out of her mouth. She stormed over to him and a very hard slap against the face, followed by a very unpleasant hard kick to his manhood. "I'm leaving and YOU are NOT going to stop me!" She yelled out as she would storm off towards the door, she was firm in her actions of not wanting to be around any single one of them. She was scared, felt alone, and very frightened she would never get to know who she was or where she came from and she wasn't about to let anyone stop her from doing so. She could be very determined when she really wanted to be.
  68.
  69. Ellie A very happy feeling went through her, a warm one. The thought that they might stay longer was indeed a very warm one that she liked. But she did realize now was not the time to be thinking of such things. First was even to make sure that Lalia was okay. Waiting with a smile, the smile slowly disappeared as Lalia acted as she did. Said what she did. Behaved as she did. After as concerned as Ellie had been about her and she would go and try to do something like that? Without even waiting for explanation? As the glass was shoved back into her hands it pushed into her chest and made her fall back. The little fox girl hit her ass hard on the floor and sat there clutching the glass to her torso. What Lalia had said had really hurt and stabbed hard into her like the icy strike of a dagger into her heart. For the next few moments as Lalia did what she did, Ellie would just sit there trembling a little like a child. It almost seemed like, in fact, that she was probably going to just cry. Below her and between thighs on the floor was the broken cookie. That too...Tia had been so sweet to offer it to her and now it was discarded aside just as easily as was her and Rhet was. The woman hadn't even so much as thanked her for the water. Rhet unfortunately would take the blow to his face and then his genitals, something that could not have felt good and would have to be remedied, most likely with one of the bags of ice or frozen vegetables from her freezer. But still that girl hadn't moved from her spot on the floor as all this happened. When Lalia went stomping toward the door and made her way to it, she suddenly would be stopped by a thin veil of pure aura purple in color covering over the door. Also, somehow and someway, the vines had unwrapped from around Rhet and they now wrapped around Lalia. They wrapped and gripped tightly around her form, holding her into place. If Rhet had looked up now he would see the fox girl standing. The glass had fallen and lay at feet on it's side. Standing now and facing toward him and the front door, she had both hands raised. Ears perked, her one tail was now nine fluffy tails fluttering about behind her. One of her honey-gold hues was now a shimmering purple as she glared toward Lalia, a sinister frown on her lips. Visible pockets of purple aura billowed around her outstretched hands, giving away the fact that she was indeed responsible for both the shield of some type over the door and the vines that had now been redirected to wrap tightly around Lalia. They too were swirling with her purple energy. Despite these few changes, Ellie still looked like her seventeen year-old self. But the nine tails and the one purple shimmering eye made her look alot more intimidating now. Soft lips parted as she spoke. "You are a fucking ungrateful brat! You didn't even say thank you for the water, or the cookie! But more importantly, you are attacking the very one that has been given the unfortunate task of dealing with you. Do you think he WANTS to? He's not been talking bad about you...He explained everything to me, the truth! He regrets the way he treated you and he doesn't want to anymore! Rhet actually said he plans to treat you properly like the woman you are and protect you. Even Tia gave you one of HER cookies and kept you warm! I kept you warm and had him bring you here to heat you up. Would you rather I let you DIE out there in those woods?! Alone, miserable, pathetic in the snow?! Now, here's what's gonna happen. You're going to apologize to Rhet for what you just did. I don't expect you to fully trust him off the bat. But you will NOT treat him like that, do you understand me? He's here to keep watch over you and protect you. After that you're going to sit your ass back down, eat some mint cookies, drink some hot cocoa, and let him explain everything to you! Maybe he'll even apologize for treating you rough before! After that, you're also going to go grab the bag of frozen vegetables I need from my freezer and put them on his penis. Do you understand me?" The girl lowered her gaze slightly as it became more calm than angry. The purple aura was acting like a wind, blowing light things and clothes around the living room as her super long hair and nine tails danced gracefully in the air around her like majestic flags. One hand let her fingers close slightly, the vines tightening even more just slightly on Lalia as perhaps, a warning. But they were not too tight so as to hurt her or suffocate. Only to make her unable to move at all.
  70.
  71. Rhet Oh, if only her eyes had been daggers! He would have been skewered alive and then some. So would their gracious hostess apparently. Rhet didn’t understand why Ellie got the death glare as well, when all she did was help them. He’d never understand the thoughts of others…Maybe that’s why he tended to keep to himself. Him, Da and Tia were all that were important, all he needed as a social circle. He waited for Lalia to say something during her coughing fits, because of such seething anger, no sort of ailment was going to keep those venomous words away. She was far from a flower princess in those moments, more like a snake in the grass ready to sink her fangs into anything. Anyone. The anger was his alone, this he knew, but poor Ellie…She didn’t deserve the first lashing. That was just to get the ball rolling, for Lalia was far from done. It would have been a better idea to have thrown his own knife and ended this before it began. Screw what his Da would say or think, screw the king as well. He didn’t sign up for this sort of a headache. He noticed the lack of gratefulness once the princess got her drink and then came the words and shove. “Hey-“ He started, just about having ENOUGH of this scene. Rhet was going to direct that anger and hate back to the source. Him. Yet, there was no need as her gaze once more settled on him. Instinctively, his hand was going for his blade again. Even Tia’s hackles were risen and she was hissing at Lalia. Rhet wouldn’t allow his companion to attack her though, as much as he was ready to himself. Words didn’t harm him like they did before. His emotions tended to guide his actions and he knew he’d do something stupid again. Swearing off causing her any harm was going to get tossed out. Well, more like engulfed in his own fury. He couldn’t let that happen and instead tried to keep calm. “You CAN’T.” He replied. Was there any home to go back to? He wouldn’t think on it. Any excuse came to mind instead for her actions. Any to justify why he wouldn’t take action. A well deserved mistake on his part as the floor erupted. Too busy, too distracted again to move…Or simply, he allowed those roots to wrap around him. He’d grunt with how tight the roots became, threatening to crush him. It would take a lot of force, seeing as his body was re-enforced. Rhet wouldn’t allow that to be known though and simply played along with the pain and discomfort. The slap to the face caused his own glare. His own eyes darkened, nearly becoming animalistic. The only thing that got him to look away though, was the swift kick to the privates. Pain was something he was used to, but never there. It made him want to collapse and nearly vomit up the cocoa and cookies. The bile retreated thankfully, but the pain continued to work its way, giving him a strong reminder that he wasn’t invincible. His body tensed and he turned away as he could feel his fangs forming. Not here, he wouldn’t show his bear side to either of them! His will was stronger than the anger and defensiveness trying to break free. His resistance wouldn’t last long as the vines suddenly released him and went after their master. He’d drop to the floor and remained on his hands and knees. Rhet refused to collapse to the floor and instead would look upon the scene before him. Ellie…Had become something else. Magic came to mind, which would still confirm the lights and such. She was attempting to put Lalia in her place, which made him think he should sneak out the back. Two warring females was something he didn’t want to get involved with. Yet he wouldn’t shy away. He’d instead attempt to get on his feet and stand. His healing ability was starting to kick in and allow him the motion. “There’s…no need.” He rasped. Not only that, but he wasn’t going to let Lalia ANYWHERE near his privates in the state she’s in. His gaze went to the princess. “I…didn’t bring us here. My portals don’t…go this far.” He’d pause a moment. “My actions were unjust.” Rhet admitted, then continued. “I’ve been tasked to protect you. No matter where you go, I will follow. Creep or not.” They were unfortunately stuck together. His attention then went to Ellie. “It might not be a good idea for us to stay here.” Surely due to whatever retaliation Lalia came up with, it would ban them from the woman’s home anyway.
  72.
  73. Lalia Darkbird Lalia was going to leave them all, she didn't care, she wanted far away from them, she didn't trust to many people in the first place, though couldn't figure out why. It laid within her past of the amount of times she got hurt due to her position in life, princess it seems perfect and everything one wanted, it was anything but that. People constantly betrayed her she always had to watch her back. No one ever wanted to get to know her, or if they did, the rumours would easily start back up and she'd cry for hours. Her parents being who they were never really had time for her, as kingdom needs always came first above everything, it was vital and important. So instead she turned towards money, shopping and material items to be happy with, it was always there at least, and she never had a moment without it. So she grew to be called all sorts of names of the whispers behind her back, she could always hear them, but that mask remained. Oh she hid it so well, her world was always full of what others to get out of her. But something got in her way now, first a bit of surprise flashed across her face, then anger, that crap again, Rhet did this earlier, but different! Soon that surprise turned to further anger and hatred of people always attempting to use her or control currently and it was pissing her off. Soon feeling her own vines keep her there she knew this woman was just like Rhet, Ignorant! She would attempt to pull away from them. Intimidation, for some reason it wasn't frightening this time, maybe it was at that first sentence of hers, it triggered a familiar memory all to easy. It made her stop moving and go completely silent. She admit she had gusto though, someone actually calling that to her face. It was new at least, but it hasn't been something new said and then some. She waited to listen to all she had to say, allowing her own thoughts swirl though her head, but once she was done her tone had gone quiet and emotionless "your naive and foolish" she started out. "You need to hop off your high and righteousness horse, you talk as if you even know the first thing about me" her tone grew colder. "Or what even happened in full, let me paint a vulgar mouth little child a picture so she gets the whole thing instead of making assumptions" she spat out coldly. "Picture yourself waking up in the middle of nowhere, and not having a clue but your own name and trying to remember anything else at all, walking along in this beautiful thing! Barefooted and cold, suddenly something I have no idea what to call lifts you up from the ground and the entire world and the one responsible are peering at everything underneath! Then to only turn you right side up after spotting him and he won't put you down 'fixing' her dress, before spouting off something about protection for you, all the while your still freaked out and scared and he just acted like a total creep. Only to get away from him because you don't know what he's talking about, on the account you can't remember but a name, what your favorite thing to do is, and maybe just maybe a fuzzy picture of maybe a mother or someone, you don't quite know. To only run away because of being scared and then chased! Until caught as if she were a prize! Hurray! Then at the desire of wanted to escaped You turn into flowers! And freak out sending all over a cliff. What's the first thing you wanna do when free, You want to run away anywhere to safety away from him. Even if it's possible death, it will still be possibilities he could of done to you, right? So you fall deep asleep thinking it's the end, but only to wake up somewhere warm, then still see your nightmare of nightmares is continuing on without and end! Your sure he's filling someone's head with lies, as well all just recently meet in such a lovely way," She spoke as she twisted her arms in the "you, the foolish one just happens to find him and trust him right away,as if he's actually telling you the truth, you just trust someone at the word, do not know people hide their true intentions well? Or is that something that miss took you in life? Oh wait never mind that question I would be stooping to your level in assuming anything" she scoffed back at her. "Your going to have to either let me go, or kill me, because I will never willing stay, or find a way to die, whichever ever comes first...and you expect me to trust you after a few niceties? While feeling angry at someone else, that you chose to believe? As far as the rest, I didn't see it due to that horrendous scoffing fit, or did you already forget that bit in having your own tantrum" she scoffed back at her, waiting to see her response. When she heard Rhet she just snorted "should of started with that, the first time around" she simply said there was nothing else to say it was all out there. Trust for anyone was zero at this point.

  75. Ellie Those pupils looked over to Rhet as he spoke too, her mismatched eyes glowing in the growing darkness. The aura wind and the little scuffle had caused the fire in the fireplace to go out and darkness had come with the evening. So now the house had grown darker except for the glowing of some of the strewn lights about the living room. It was at this point that she didn't answer right away. Those optics were moving about, examining the mess that was her living room now from things being blown about, the cookie crumbs had spread, and now vines smashed right up through her floor. Ellie had done what she did in a burst of anger which she now felt fading as quickly as it came. These powers she had never ever displayed in her entire life up until now. More to add to the mystery for her of what exactly she was? Seemed that way. This woman...Her words stung. The more and more she talked it stung more and more. Ellie couldn't help it that she had a big heart. It almost felt...Natural, like her duty to help any she saw in need. In getting mixed up in all of this, that was the ONLY single thing she had done...Was just tried to help someone then another someone, both of who she thought was hurt. Only to be thrown into the middle of this. Hell, she had even had the most innocent of intentions bringing them into her home out of the cold! Lalia acted so brave now, but what would she do upon opening that door only to face the harsh snow storm now pelting Rowan Lakes? Causing a perpetual blizzard outside when the warmth right here in this place was far more appealing? Or it was appealing. So yeah, those mysterious powers had started with anger but as stated before, that anger was quickly seeping away. It was being replaced with more of being down as she came down off the high of the anger. Slowly the girl's hands lowered to her sides. The purple eye changed back to the same honey-gold as her other. The purple aura disappeared, all nine tails solidifying into her one fox tail again. The vines released Lalia and fell to the floor. There was nothing stopping her from leaving now. But as also previously mentioned before, if she did open that door, she'd be faced with a storm that was impossible to go through for a thick-furred fox like herself or probably even Rhet, let alone someone like Lalia that only made it like a mile into the forest before collapsing into the snow. And there sure as hell were no trees around in the town of Rowan Lakes and thus no roots to save her. So that's how it stood as the girl now stood with the same dejected look of a girl that might have been crushed after being dumped the first time or losing a soccer game extremely important to her. Only she never had actually truly experienced either of these. As much as the anger had made her show powers she never knew she had and still didn't know how to use, now it was followed more of a down. Ellie felt more her age now...Young, vulnerable. "You think...You think you're the only one with that problem?!" She sputtered out. Her head had dropped down. As tough as she tried to act and normally succeeded, she suddenly became in that moment an overwhelmed and emotional teenager. "I don't know my parents. I don't know what I am. I don't know who I am. Hell, I never even had adopted parents! You know where I lived my entire life up until now? An orphanage. The nuns didn't care. The other kids didn't care. In fact, they made fun of me for my ears and tail until I learned to hide them! But by then it was too late. They already knew what I was. I saw Rhet lying in the snow! I thought he was hurt! What would you have me do, leave him for dead! It was the same with you Lalia. I followed your tracks with him and came after you not even knowing you was his charge...But thinking you were his friend. I came after you and found you to help you AND help him. To help you both! And...And...Then I invited you both...Into my home because of the snow! I didn't want you to freeze to death! I even shared my hot cocoa and cookies and planned to give you some too! And a blanket and warmth! A-and..." Now her voice was stuttering. During her little tirade Ellie's eyes had been brimming. Now tears ran down her cheeks as she lifted an arm up and wiped at her face some. "...You wrecked my house. And....Hurt my feelings." Now Ellie felt like she was being the brat but it was hard to even care at this point. Her young adult hormones were kicking in. Turning around, the girl moved. In a blur she was a fox running up the stairs. Thumps could be heard as in her hurry she slipped and fell a few times also thumping against the stairs. At last she reached her bedroom where she zoomed under the bed and curled up tight as close to the wall as she could, tail wrapped around herself as her entire body quaked.
