When the Director of the Federal Bureau of Control elected to betray the Board, jeopardizing the Bureau and indeed the very world that they worked in, they found themselves in something of a lurch. This situation was unprecedented. They knew that, in theory, they should have a candidate that should be coming in, but... for all her promise, they had someone else in mind, someone a bit more qualified. A resume that they received just as the former Director was transitioning to being the LATE Director. And on reflection, it seemed that the applicant was more than qualified. It would simply be a matter of him juggling this along with his other responsibilities, but it would at least assure that the situation would be handled quickly. And it was certainly helpful to have a Director that they could reach rather more easily than the last several, and even without a risk of brain hemorrhage.

And so a man walked into a tall building on the evening of October 19th, and assumed control of the Bureau.

There was a great deal to have addressed, to get the Oldest House in order, and being new to the organization he elected to start from the very ground up, helping out not only the department heads, but rangers, researchers, maintenance. Even working as the janitor's assistant. Ahti gave some good-natured grumbling about how he would have rather had the girl to assist, but at least her replacement was not half as clueless. Heck, he even shared his mixtape in the end. It was indeed quite amazing.

The plans for the resonance amplifiers were spread to the research staff and quickly replicated, to secure staff from undue influence. The Hiss, of course, was the most immediate threat. It was dealt with handily, considering the new Director of the Bureau had paranatural abilities of his own by the double handful and mastered the Service Weapon with alarming alacrity. Time of course is quite flexible within the Oldest House, and it would be hard to say whether the entire sequence of events lasted a handful of hours or perhaps weeks, but things were restored to a relative level of order, and eventually the Hiss were blocked off entirely.

Of course that wasn't the end of things; the Board expressed that, though they had brought in a better candidate than they initially had in mind, an open door couldn't simply be closed again. And so the Bureau found itself having to deal with quite more than it did before, though it found the tradeoffs to be better equipped facilities for the most part. But when dealing with things like a building-wide infection of Mold entities, or an infestation of indestructible astral spikes, it certainly interfered with the Bureau's proper operations to say the very least. To say nothing of dealing with the Shadow, or another attempted incursion by the Hiss... or a former member of the Board bent on simply splitting everything apart as it couldn't subvert its fellows.

But the Bureau held the line, kept the world safe from anomalous material, even if they came into some very unforeseen consequences after a decade had passed.

And all along the way, the Director was there, leading from the front.
