  10.
  11. [SFX: knocking on door] [muffled] Heeey~ Come on, open up! I know what your schedule is like, you should be home right now!
  12.
  13. [SFX: door opens] There you are!
  14.
  15. Well, I know I didn't actually *say* I was coming over, but it's Friday!
  16.
  17. [sigh] It's *finally* Friday.
  18.
  19. Yeah this week can go straight to hell. It's time to relax.
  20.
  21. Yep! So, let me in! I brought a big bag of snacks with me! I thought we could hang out and get wasted on junk food. We could play games, listen to some tunes, whatever. I'm down for anything.
  22.
  23. [SFX: door closes]
  24.
  25. So what's up? How've you been?
  26.
  27. Only...ok?
  28.
  29. Well, this week has been pretty awful, to say the least. So I'm glad I could come over. Even if I did barge in here without calling first.
  30.
  31. But I mean...it's fine if I'm here, right? I don't want to bother you if you have plans or anything.
  32.
  33. Really? Ok, that's great!
  34.
  35. Yeah we've barely seen each other this week. It kinda sucked, if I'm being honest. But hey, sometimes that's just how it is.
  36.
  37. Mhm. It happens.
  38.
  39. Oh, can I get a drink? We need to start this weekend already!
  40.
  41. [mouth full] Mhm, I'm gonna get started on the snacks! [laugh]
  42.
  43. [clears throat] Umm, I'll have whatever you're having!
  44.
  45. How were your classes by the way? You had an early lecture, didn't you?
  46.
  47. Yeah, that's a no. 8 AM classes *ruin* me.
  48.
  49. For me...let's just say...the best part of my day is that it's over.
  50.
  51. [sigh] You don't even know. [laugh] I just grabbed all this stuff and rushed over here.
  52.
  53. But what's taking so long with the drinks there, buddy?
  54.
  55. Ah, yes! Thanks. [sip]
  56.
  57. Wait a minute, are you sure you're ok?
  58.
  59. No, don't say it's nothing. You look like you have something on your mind.
  60.
  61. Of course you can tell me. We tell each other everything, don't we?
  62.
  63.
  64. What? You're failing? Like what? Some tests, your course?
  65.
  66.
  67. Oh.
  68.
  69. Ok you know what, lets sit down.
  70.
  71. Even if you don't think this is a thing, we're gonna make it a thing. I can see this is bothering you, so obviously we're going to talk about it.
  72.
  73. Yeah, come sit with me on the bed. Lay your legs over mine.
  74.
  75. Comfy, huh? Just like we used to do.
  76.
  77. So. Tell me what's been happening.
  78.
  79.
  80. Ok...
  81.
  82.
  83. And have you tried talking to someone about this? Your lecturers, counselors, anyone?
  84.
  85. I'm the first person you've told?
  86.
  87. Ah, I get that. It's not the easiest conversation to have. Especially if you're not used to struggling this much.
  88.
  89. Right? It's a big adjustment from high school.
  90.
  91. But plenty of people have made it work, so I know you can, too. I mean, look at me! I wasn't the sharpest tool in the shed back then, but now I'm...coping? [sigh]
  92.
  93. No no, don't worry about me.
  94.
  95. [reassuring] I'm good. Seriously. We're focusing on you now.
  96.
  97. Of course it's fine! I said don't worry about me. Are you trying to dodge my questions or something?
  98.
  99. Yeah, so go on.
  100.
  101.
  102. It's *always* ok to get some help. Whether we're talking about schoolwork, or how you're feeling, whatever! Never be ashamed to reach out to someone.
  103.
  104. *Someone* will help. I can guarantee that. And even if no-one else does, know that *I* will.
  105.
  106. Mhm. Always.
  107.
  108. So...maybe give me a little smile?
  109.
  110. Ok that's the opposite of a smile.
  111.
  112. Is this hitting you that hard?
  113.
  114. No of course not! I really didn't mean to sound so insensitive.
  115.
  116. Let me just...ok, give me a space here.
  117.
  118. Ah. This'll work.
  119.
  120. Yeah let me put my arm around you. Don't be so glum, chum~
  121.
  122. I know you're feeling down, but you'll get through this. I'll help you get through this.
  123.
  124. What was that?
  125.
  126. [annoyed] Ok no. Cut that shit out *right* now.
  127.
  128. Don't "what" me. "Losers stay losers"? Say that again and see what happens.
  129.
  130. You don't get to say that about yourself. You're so much better than that. And we left that all "loser" shit back in high school.
  131.
  132.
  133. [sigh] [sympathetic] I'm just...don't- don't do that, ok? I can't stand it when you're like this. It's not good for you. And it's definitely not *you*.
  134.
  135. Well, that was back then! Who gives a shit about high school now?
  136.
  137. And what? If you were a loser, what did that make me? A super loser?
  138.
  139. See? Exactly.
  140.
  141. Still, who cares? We were together, weren't we? And like you said, you didn't think *I* was a loser, did you? You can bet I didn't think you were, either.
  142.
  143. [under your breath] I thought you were incredible.
  144.
  145. And if you still wanna think like that, look at it from a different angle! We're not losers, we're scrappy underdogs!
  146.
  147. Yeah! We fight! And then we win! That's how all of the movies go!
  148.
  149. Mhm. So be strong for me, ok? And I'll be strong for you.
  150.
  151. Great!
  152.
  153. So...do you wanna get back to stuffing our faces with-
  154.
  155. Hold up. Look at me.
  156.
  157. Yes. Let me see your eyes.
  158.
  159. [sharp sigh] Ok stop. Is that really all of it? You still look like you have something you want to say.
  160.
  161. You know you can tell me anything.
  162.
  163. [suspicious] Why should I promise I won't be mad?
  164.
  165.
  166. Wait, no...are you serious?
  167.
  168. [shaky] Is this like...a recent thing? How long have you been thinking about this?
  169.
  170. I had no idea. Why wouldn't you tell me about this earlier?!
  171.
  172. Yes it's going to bother me! How did you think I was going to react to this?
  173.
  174. [sigh] [defeated] I'm not...I'm not *mad*...it's- I just...
  175.
  176. [pained] I don't know, I don't want you to leave!
  177.
  178.
  179. [softer] Have things really been that bad? I mean, for you to consider dropping out?
  180.
  181. No no, I get that. I get it. You wouldn't be saying this without a lot of thought behind it.
  182.
  183.
  184. [sigh] No, I don't want to go home. I want to stay here. Especially after what you told me.
  185.
  186. I- please don't do the whole "loser" thing now. It's not helping anybody.
  187.
  188. No, I'm sorry. I don't want to make you feel worse.
  189.
  190.
  191. Is there any way you'll reconsider? Like what if I help you with your work? I know it's not really my field, but I can try?
  192.
  193. Or I can help you *find* some help. We can go talk to your lecturers, maybe some upperclassmen, see if they can point you in the right direction?
  194.
  195. And maybe you can talk to someone at admin and adjust your course load, I don't know?
  196.
  197. [annoyed, a bit emotional] How can you ask me why I'm doing this? I'm trying to figure this shit out because I don't want you to leave!
  198.
  199. I told you I don't want you to leave.
  200.
  201. [soft] I don't want you to leave *me*.
  202.
  203.
  204. [sigh] If you're planning on leaving, then...I think I need to say this. Maybe I can change your mind.
  205.
  206.
  207. [deep breath] You know we've always been together. And I don't know...in that time...I kinda, sorta...fell for you. I caught feelings, y'know?
  208.
  209. No! Why would I joke about this? I would never do that to you, that's awful.
  210.
  211. Listen to me now. I mean *everything* I'm about to say.
  212.
  213. Yes. I like you. Like really, *really* like you. And I want to be with you. Even more than I already am.
  214.
  215. Don't say that! Look at you! You're amazing.
  216.
  217. [jokingly threatening] Hey, no. What I did say about that?
  218.
  219. Well, then...losers stick together, come on. [chuckle]
  220.
  221. Yeah, we stick together. So...maybe stick with me?
  222.
  223. Um, actually...don't let me sway you too much if you really feel that you need to leave. I kind of said this as a Hail Mary, but I realise now that it was a bit of a dick move.
  224.
  225. Not that I didn't mean every word, but...it wasn't the most considerate thing to do. I can't mess up *your* plans just because I like you so much.
  226.
  227. I *also* realised that I've been doing most of the talking and I didn't even [soft, a bit hesitant]...hear...an answer.
  228.
  229. [soft] Do...you want to be with me? Because I know I want to be with you.
  230.
  231. Oh my god, I- oh thank god! [laugh] [kiss]
  232.
  233. And we can figure things out, ok? You haven't made up your mind about leaving yet, so let me help you. We'll see what we can do about your work, and no matter what happens I'll...[deep breath] I'll respect your decision.
  234.
  235. No, but let's not think about that right now, please? I just want to spend as much time with you as I can.
  236.
  237. [laugh] Losers stick together, right? [kiss]
  238.
