In this seemingly normal world, abnormal things had started to occur since recently.

Even if humans were oblivious about it, fairies were living in this world.
Fairies who had become bored.
Fairies who had started to choose a few humans to grant them supernatural powers.

The fairies plot was simple : watch these humans fight each other with these supernatural powers, just for their own entertainment.
Most of the humans chosen by the fairies were now knowing about the origin and the purpose of their supernatural powers ...
But some of them still didn't know.

A group of five friends, all members of the literature club, including Jurai and Hatoko, two childhood friends.
The five of them had suddenly been granted with powers, but because they didn't know at all about the how and why, they had decided to just keep living their normal lives, hiding their powers when other people were around.


A few months had passed since the day they had received their powers.
The summer holidays had begun less than a week ago, and like every year, Hatoko's family was heading to a one single night vacation on the beach.
Hatoko's childhood friend - and secret love interest - Jurai was coming too with his own family.

This year, Hatoko had a resolve in her mind : she was going to confess her love for him.
She had prepared herself wisely, reading some teenage girls magazines to learn how she had to act and react with him.
She had even bought the exact recommended beach set, including a sexy top part bikini.

But she had been unlucky all day and all of her approaches had been solded by various fails.
She finally started to doubt about the real efficiency of these stereotypical situations described in the magazines ...

Apparently his big sister needed his help for something ...

It was 06:30 pm already, and since Hatoko was now all alone on the beach, she started to feel stressed.
Soon she wondered if it couldn't be better to go for a walk instead of staying here alone and lost in thought ...

For these fairies maximum entertainment, some animals had been, too.

And a few others all around the world ...
Including a certain serpent who was living in a small forest near the beach ...

All of the supernatural power's animal possessors had a common trait : additionally to their new powers and abilities, they had also become bigger, stronger, more intelligent and even able to innately speak any human language ...

The snake already had been involved in a supernatural battle against another animal once, and thanks to his new intelligence, it had been enough for him to quickly understand how his special power was working.

But having an amazing power wasn't enough to make him satisfied.
He was still a snake - even if an extremely intelligent one - and so, what was the most important for him was still food.
And actually, he was starved ...

At the time he still was a regular snake, his menus were composed of some random small animals, and he was satisfied enough with them.
But since he had "evolved", his tastes had started to evolve too.

Small animals weren't nice enough for him anymore ...
They were bland ... unsatisfying ...
Even if he had continued to eat some of them from time to time in order to survive, he hardly could stand them anymore.
He was more and more desirous to enjoy more appetizing, more delicious, more satisfying dishes ...

At the time he still was a stupid little snake, he was afraid to leave his small forest ...
But he wasn't scared anymore.
Recently, he had adventured near the beach once, and what he had seen there had made his appetite coming back.
Well, at least, half of what he had seen did ...

Female humans.
He desired to try and swallow a female human ...
Most of these girls wandering almost naked on this beach looked so delicious ...

And today, it had been three weeks since the last time he had something inside his stomach.
He had been starving for a long time, and was wondering about what the best plan to lure a prey from the beach to the forest could be ...

In the end, she had been unable to think about something else than Jurai.
Coming here had just been a complete waste of time ...

She simply wanted to make some light to see who the hidden person was.
In fact, simply using her light element could have been more discreet ...
But as the air-headed girl she was, she didn't make the best choice in the panic.

Anyway, even with the light provided by her fire, Hatoko still couldn't see where the mysterious person was.
Could it be ... someone with a power of invisibility ?
After all, since her friends and herself had met Mirei, they knew that there also were other persons than them who had received powers.
But, crossing the way of one of these persons here and now was just ... incredibly unlucky ...

Hatoko looked above, and what she saw surprised her so much that she lost the fire she had in her hands.

And how could it be able to speak ... ??

But the snake's voice tone wasn't as much pleased as it could have been.
For a moment, when he had seen this inviting young girl walking all alone near his tree, he had been overjoyed and overexcited.
