Firstly, theres two different childes. Theres whale childe, and there is f2p to dolphin childe.
Whale childe is c4 and above, f2p to dolphin is c0-c3.
f2p childe becomes more powerful at every constellation till he hits c4, where he dramatically loses burst dmg, and becomes a different character.

F2p childe
I'm going to consider f2p childe c0-c1.
at this level childe wants crit rate to max, and as much cmg as you can fit on while making sure he always has at least 80-90% crit rate. He also wants as much EM as you can force on as your third stat. The goal here is for childe to be the driving battery of your team, to give himself ult. Every time he crits he will give your team energy. He can very quickly give himself ult back to back. The goal is to get him to ult as fast as possible, swap to bennet, have bennet's ultimate trigger a pyro proc on the enemy, then swap back to childe to finish them with an ult. The best team comp to do this is Childe Fish Beidou Bennet. You only want to be in childes blade forms for very short bursts while swapping between fish and beidou. Once childe has his ult you need to wait for him to have his blades swap off cd so you can immediately swap into him and finishing strike off bennets ult. It can be a pain in the ass to balance this, but he can easily burst for a million+ off a perfect setup.

Dolphin childe c2-c3
Same shit but now hes stronger, its easier to get his ult while keeping his blades off cd, because of that you should probably spend more time as beidou after applying his ripetide to everything. Same thing, just easier to do. Less focus on worrying about his cd's being up, and about having time to clear electro.

Whale Childe c4+
Once childe has c4, his vape combo is dead. Every 4 seconds his riptide will hit everything hes touched till they die. This will apply hydro. You will never be able to do a vape comp with the swap times again. Seriously good fucking luck. Childe doesn't care though, he gains absolutely massive damage uptime. at c6, he never has to be out of blade form, and he never want to be. You should only swap off of him to apply buffs. Beidou and fish are still his primary supports. You can considering removing bennet for a xiangling. Yes seriously. Bennet will still do work but you'll never trigger elements off his ult, and xiang's vapes will actually consideribly increase your overall damage. You completely drop childe's EM at this point, everything will always be water, so you can never apply the final proc as childe. So he doesnt need EM at all. I promise you.
