NickServ allows you to "register" a nickname and

23:18	NickServ	Nicknames that are not used anymore are subject to
23:18	NickServ	the automatic expiration, i.e. they will be deleted
23:18	NickServ	after 21 days if not used.

23:18	NickServ	IRC users to ensure their identity is not compromised.
23:18	NickServ	It is NOT intended to facilitate "stealing" of
23:18	NickServ	nicknames or other malicious actions.  Abuse of NickServ
23:18	NickServ	will result in, at minimum, loss of the abused
23:18	NickServ	nickname(s).
