  45. In The International, Interpol Agent Louis Salinger and Manhattan Assistant District Attorney Eleanor Whitman are determined to bring to justice one of the world's most powerful banks. Uncovering illegal activities including money laundering, arms trading, and the destabilization of governments, Salinger and Whitman's investigation takes them from Berlin to Milan to New York and to Istanbul. Finding themselves in a high-stakes chase across the globe, their relentless tenacity puts their own lives at risk as the bank will stop at nothing - even murder - to continue financing terror and war.
  46. The Interpol Agent Louis Salinger and his partner are investigating the International Bank of Business and Credit (IBBC). This investigation is with with the District Attorney, Eleanor Whitman, from Manhattan in a two hundred million dollars illegal business of weapons trading. They schedule a meeting with an insider informer from IBBC at the Central Station in Berlin; however his partner is mysteriously killed after the encounter. Salinger finds the identity of the informer when he sees that the Vice President of Acquisitions André Clement had died in a car accident. Salinger and Whitman head to Milan where they meet the politician Umberto Calvini, who is a big arms manufacturer, and he explains that IBBC is interested in buying the missile guiding system that he produces in his factory. When Calvini is murdered by a sniper in a political rally, Salinger and Whitman head to New York following the killer and later to Istanbul, and disclose a scheme of arms supply and destabilization of governments to make their nations slaves of debt. Further, the bank is protected by legal systems and only if Salinger crosses the line he might bring some justice to the corrupt system.
  47. For me movies can be divided into cerebral as opposed to just going through the motions. For example The Firm -- similar plot to this in that little guy tries to take down corporate organized crime, however the script and plot twists in The Firm are great. I found the script in The International to be inane from the get-go. No lines stood out as memorable, so I can&#39;t quote any here, but here are couple scenes indicating the unbelievable and &#39;just going through the motions&#39; quality of this film; by the way, I heard it lost a lot of money, no surprise. A) During machine gun shoot out, somehow like 15 guys mysteriously appear to compete in it. Reminds me of a low budget kung foo film. B) In the middle of the shoot out a main antagonist asks Clive Owen to help him take off his bullet proof vest -- of course he gets shot again and dies. Why keep your vest on when the bullets are flying? C) With hundreds of rounds fired, only a few guys get hit, and then a chandelier falls and kills two bad guys? Why bring an AK47 to a shoot out when you can just drop a chandelier to kill the bad guys? D)Three times during the movie a character offers a pathetic &#39;Are you OK?&#39; Once when Naomi Watts gets run over by a car, Once when Clive Owen gets shot in the ear. Are you OK? No you freaking idiot, I just got hit with a car. And what was the point of Naomi getting run over? I never figured that out.<br/><br/>In Conclusion, want to see a much better Clive Owen film, see Derailed. Inside Job with Owen not as good as Derailed, but still way above The International.
  48. i just finished watching the movie couple of ours ago. it is a really good movie i gave it 8/10 just because there is nothing &quot;super&quot; in it otherwise the movie is great in all manners . the story is pretty good , the acting is very good too . Clive Owen left his prints and unique performance with good bu not too good acting by Naomi Watts. there is no too much action in the most on the movie parts , neither the usual love story in every movie , no sex no relationships , no that much of emotion bla bla bla all of this makes the movie more realistic but you will feel that something is kinda messing comparing with other movies in the same category . the story is not that complicated it is simple and clear not charging any country neither clear them out of every bad thing in this world everybody is guilty . <br/><br/>anyway i find this movie very good . i recommend it for a nice night . you will enjoy it .

The screenplay is supposedly based on two financial corporations—the Canadian-based Permindex Trade Organization and the Pakistani-based Bank of Credit and Commerce International.
