  1. It's a big day today. You head over to Doc Ido's clinic as usual, always a little early for your nursing job. You only took it to see Alita, of course, and you suspect he might know that. Still, you keep your head down and you're a good worker, so he hasn't confronted you about it. You think he might even approve, he's been a bit kinder to you lately. Maybe you won him over by showing him you had a good head on your shoulders.
  2.
  3. Still, you finally decided today was the day to confess. As always, she's just finishing breakfast as you arrive, so you have a minute to talk with her.
  4. "Hey, Alita! Morning."
  5. She smiles at you, used to your presence. "Hey. I was actually wondering, d'you wanna catch the motorball game tonight? It's just tryouts, but I like to know what I'll be up against."
  6. That was a fairly golden opportunity, you supposed. You wanted to after work so it wasn't on your mind the whole time, but..."Sure, I'd love to. But, um.." Suddenly, your throat goes dry, and tightens. Alita's smile grows a little curious, that same look she always has when she's experiencing something new. "Well..I was hoping that..." You trail off again, but force yourself to continue- "W-We could go a-as a date?"
  7. Immediately, Alita's expression becomes more guarded. "A...date? I didn't know you felt that way about me.." Paralyzed by her words, you can only stand helpless as she continues. "...But I'd love to, if it's with you." You let out a breath you didn't know you were holding, all the pressure on your chest vanishing in an instant.
  8.
  9. Ido clears his throat, startling you out of your bliss. "You're here, good. Let's get started. Our first patient just came in, he needs a rebuild on his arm..." He walks away, towards the operating table, explaining the technicalities. With a rueful smile towards Alita, you begin to follow him. "See ya after work, Ali."
