kat loves jace more than oxygen

Jace Beleren is an absolute babey, in the sense of the internet term where he is precious and must be protected at all costs. He's an absolute gem of a character; soft spoken and shy, intelligent but not smug, in tune with his emotions and willing to be vulnerable to the people he trusts. A unicorn of a male character in popular media. He's proof that masculinity comes in every shape and size, because his sensitivity and dislike of being physical don't make him any less of a man, and that his trauma doesn't make him weak.

He's amazing representation of someone who has been through hell and come out singing. He may be anxious and slow to trust, but he's strong in spite of those who have hurt him and will continue to hurt him. He's willing to bond with someone who has shared those experiences with him (Vraska) and they became thick as thieves as a result, showing that companionship and solidarity are important to recovery.

He's extremely layered as a character; his troubled relationships with Kallist and Liliana, his complex friendship with Ral Zarek, his nervous friendships with the Gatewatch, and ultimate powerful bond with Vraska show many different sides of him and his choices (bad or good). His struggles making friends resonate with people, and he exhibits a number of traits that people on the autism spectrum especially can empathize and identify with.

His growth as a character has been wonderful to track; from his bitter, jaded, drinking-to-cope self from Agents of Artifice blooming into the determined, cunning multiverse-saving hero from Rivals of Ixalan over the course of ten years.

Overall, he is someone I and many others who share my minorities (be they be softer/transgender men, bisexual individuals, those on the autism spectrum, or none of those things) can see themselves in. Please take care of him and do his character well, because he is a precious gemstone of a character.
