  1. [17:59] Aurelia ven Grimmore says, "Miss Katrin."
  2. [17:59] Katrin Weiss says, "Ah. There ya are."
  3. [17:59] Katrin Weiss says, "Miss Aurelia."
  4. [17:59] Katrin Weiss asks, "How's the evenin' treatin' ya?"
  5. [17:59] Aurelia ven Grimmore says, "I am well. A bit anxious, knowing friends of mine have went to battle..."
  6. [17:59] Aurelia ven Grimmore says, "I can only pray they will be all right."
  7. [18:00] Katrin Weiss asks, "Ya ain't elect to go?"
  8. [18:00] Katrin arches a brow as she smokes. As she often does.
  9. (Katrin Weiss)
  10. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
  11.
  12. [18:00] Aurelia ven Grimmore says, "Well."
  13. [18:01] Aurelia ven Grimmore says, "I would, but..."
  14. [18:01] Aurelia ven Grimmore says, "I am going to have children soon."
  15. [18:01] Katrin Weiss says, "Ah..."
  16. [18:01] Katrin Weiss says, "Yeah. That'd do it."
  17. [18:01] Aurelia nods...
  18. (Aurelia ven Grimmore)
  19. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
  20.
  21. [18:01] Katrin Weiss says, "C'mon in then. Won't leave ya out here in the cold and dark."
  22. [18:01] Katrin reaches out to gently guide Aurelia by the shoulder, into the shop proper.
  23. (Katrin Weiss)
  24. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
  25.
  26. [18:01] Aurelia ven Grimmore says, "Of course."
  27. [18:02] Katrin Weiss asks, "How ya been besides?"
  28. [18:02] Aurelia ven Grimmore says, "I've been all right. Little has happened."
  29. [18:02] Katrin Weiss says, "Y'know. Ordinarily I'd say 'no news is good news'."
  30. [18:02] Katrin Weiss says, "But..."
  31. [18:02] Katrin Weiss says, "...Not with what's lurkin' out there."
  32. [18:05] The artificer frowns, leaning down to rummage through the chests. She retrieves the mostly finished lance- the metal gleaming a cold, yet somehow still bright red in the low light, the codex, detailing the runes in its golden book mark, and the crystal of light.
  33.
  34. "If it's quiet. That means they're makin' trouble. And multiplyin'," she rumbles.
  35.
  36. "But. One thing at a time, eh?"
  37. (Katrin Weiss)
  38. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
  39.
  40. [18:10] The Grimmore sighed tiredly.
  41.
  42. "Quite. It always helps to have an eye on the mirefolk- or any who would aid in their troublemaking..." She was silent for the most part, but when she heard the lance head being moved, her eyes lit up. "Have you yet to put the crystal of light to use, or... has it already been implemented into the weapon?
  43.
  44. I ask this because during our exploration of our abandoned manor, I came across an object of interest. One that could potentially replace that... crystal."
  45. (Aurelia ven Grimmore)
  46. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
  47.
  48. [18:12] "Not just the Mirefolk," she rumbles again distantly. Even if the woes of the world were mostly not her problem. It did not make them any more pleasant to consider.
  49.
  50. "Nah. That was gonna be the order of business today. That and settin' in the runes on this mark found in the Codex ya brought me."
  51.
  52. Her brow quirks and she turns to regard Aurelia.
  53.
  54. "If you got other gear to replace it. I'm listenin'."
  55. (Katrin Weiss)
  56. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
  57.
  58. [18:18] "Ah, right." No comment was made on the topic. If the order today was to work on the weapon, that was the thing she would focus on.
  59.
  60. Reaching into the depths of her cloak, Aurelia presented the item to Katrin. A sinister, red, glowing sphere. Its attunement to cosmic magic was undeniable. As it floated above Aurelia's palm, she smiled some. "This... I came across it.
  61.
  62. I would like if it could replace the crystal orb as a device of amplification."
  63. (Aurelia ven Grimmore)
  64. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
  65.
  66. [18:21] The artificer reaches out, taking the core in her hand. She can feel the hair on the back of her neck stand on end. Evidently she's just enough of a cosmic magi to suss something out about it. Not to mention her general artificing expertise.
  67.
  68. "...S'possible to do. Yeah. Might make more sense, given the context of the runes," she replies. She passes over the orb of light and trades it for what certainly had much more sinister origins.
  69.
  70. And yet, even still, for Katrin it's just a Tuesday. She had no place, anywhere or in any context, to judge on the objects influences.
  71.
  72. "You're prolly a good bit better with the stars than I am though. Once I get this set in place and the runes transferred, you might need to give it the first lil' nudge.
  73.
  74. A kickstart, sorta'. Get the circuits movin' with the power from this thing. Ya understand?"
  75. (Katrin Weiss)
  76. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
  77.
  78. [18:21] {Item} You drop Crystal Of Light.
  79. [18:21] {Item} You picked up Core Of Apythius. Dropped by Aurelia ven Grimmore..
  80. [18:29] "Indeed. We are of the red branch, it only makes sense an object attuned to it should be put into the weapon." Whether the object was entirely 'good' was up to debate, but it seemed the matriarch did not care. Nodding at Katrin's explanation, Aurelia responded with a, "Of course.
  81.
  82. When it is ready, I shall... give it a bit of a 'nudge.' Simply let me know when to and I will aid."
  83. (Aurelia ven Grimmore)
  84. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
  85.
  86. [18:35] "Red branch, huh?" she mutters, rubbing her chin with her free hand. She rolls the orb about a bit in her hand. Then she turns back around, to the work bench, and sets to business.
  87.
  88. "Good. Figure it's only fittin' you're the one to do it. Given the magic at play and this bein' for your family," she remarks. These things, though seemingly insignificant, gave meaning.
  89.
  90. And in meaning there was a magic, incalculable, all its own.
  91.
  92. Katrin tugs off a glove and touches the handle of the weapon, just below the head of the lance. With application of magmatic magic, focused with expertise and precision, the metal starts to soften.
  93.
  94. When it's softened she presses it gingerly into the metal, cleaning up the seems around the edge of the stone.
  95.
  96. "'Ppreciated. Gotta' clean this up, get these runes transferred. Then it oughta' be ready.
  97.
  98. How's Os been, by the way? Ain't been up for much travel these days."
  99. (Katrin Weiss)
  100. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
  101.
  102. [18:47] "Indeed!" As Katrin got to work, Aurelia moved to sit down on a nearby chair. She didn't want to be in the way in case the woman had to move somewhere. A nod was given as she relaxed on the seat. "Right... Osrona? It's been busy; ever since Alexei's return we have had many people come in and out.
  103.
  104. A lot of... panic." She frowned.
  105. (Aurelia ven Grimmore)
  106. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
  107.
  108. [18:55] There's a brief pause, a hiccup in the artificer's work.
  109.
  110. "...Return?" Oh boy. She sighs, then shrugs her shoulders. "A twice dead sinner, returnin' to the world."
  111.
  112. There's dry, smoky laughter as she goes about carving in lines to run down the handle of the staff.
  113.
  114. "Makes ya wonder if there really is any kinda' justice. Well. Makes -me- wonder."
  115.
  116. But she already knows the answer to that. It's not one that anyone tends to like. Not even the artificer herself. She takes the mark from the book of the cosmic codex and starts transferring the runes from it to run along with the circuitry.
  117.
  118. They glow a shiny, shimmering gold, as they were transferred directly from the material. No guess work that way, no chance mistakes on inscribing them all improperly.
  119.
  120. "Now...if you wanna give this a jolt. Get the engine goin', so to speak. I think it's ready."
  121. (Katrin Weiss)
  122. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
  123.
  124. [19:03] Aurelia nodded grimly.
  125.
  126. "His return. It has caused... trouble, to say the least." Her frown remained, especially after Katrin's next sentiment. "...it makes me wonder that too, miss Katrin. Seems the selfish get what they truly want, at the end of the day."
  127.
  128. Her blank gaze remained pointed to the wall. What was going through her mind?
  129.
  130.
  131. "Oh, right." Standing up, she moved over to the project. Right hand taking on an equally sinister glow of crimson, Aurelia flowed her cosmic mana into the runes to give them a 'jolt.'
  132. (Aurelia ven Grimmore)
  133. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
  134.
  135. [19:08] "Mn. You and me both, miss Aurelia." Her brow knits. "Lotta' folks like prayin' to the stars to solve this. But I sure ain't never heard any answers. No offense."
  136.
  137. Cosmic magi though she might be, if only in part, she was no stranger to blaspheme. Of many, many kinds. She never did claim to be a good woman. Even if she tried...Sometimes.
  138.
  139. As Aurelia touches the runes, charging them with her own crimson mana, it flows through the lines, over each symbol, painting them in a pristine shade of carnelian. It lights up the little corner of the shop in full color.
  140.
  141. Even when the light fades, the hue remains, tinging the otherwise gold rune work and inlay that ran the length of the lance's handle.
  142.
  143. "...Thinkin' that'll do it just fine. I'll keep it out under the sky for a few nights now. Usually what I do when I got the sorta' star attuned things.
  144.
  145. Does the one ya follow have a name? Do ya pray to it?"
  146. (Katrin Weiss)
  147. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
  148.
  149. [19:20] A hum is given to Katrin. "A star's answer to a cosmic magi is typical power. Our enemies seem to have greater power, though." Her hand soon stopped glowing and was returned to her side. "Of course, it is exciting to help in the process.
  150.
  151. I... also pray to Ios. It is the star I follow, the one I was born to. They are the star of morale; it is not coincidence that, according to some of my peers, I am adept at speaking in a way that ignites passion." A small smile was shown, but it soon faded.
  152. (Aurelia ven Grimmore)
  153. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
  154.
  155. [19:23] "Then stars, gods. Whatever." The faithless artificer shrugs. "And your help ain't no small thing. If this weapon's gonna work with you, it's important."
  156.
  157. There's a slight nod as she removes the lance, holding it aloft to observe, then turns and stashes it away. When the stars were right, it would come out in their full view.
  158.
  159. Such was how she did things.
  160.
  161. "Wouldn't have known if ya ain't told me, to be honest. I ain't truck much with those forces."
  162. (Katrin Weiss)
